Kameo: Elements for Power still for Xbox!?

Kameo: Elements for Power, planned for a release on the N64 and GameCube, doesn't seem to release on Xbox 2. The game is scheduled for Winter 2005, currently still for Xbox.

Obviously, this game came to Xbox 360, and then was re-released as part of Rare Replay on Xbox One.

Thank God. This game should have come out ages ago. Although, are you sure it was originally planned for the N64? I don't remember reading that before.. the only Rare game I recalled being pushed back that generation was Dinosaur Planet..

It was in the planning phase at N64 days, but was never really developed for the system.

Exactly. In winter, Xbox 2 will be around the corner and Kameo is the kind of game that would do well as a launch title.

Ah, that's what I kind of figured. I think Grabbed by the Ghoulies was like that too, because I remember that Rare registered a trademark/website/whatever under that name, and that was back in the late N64 days..

Kameo postponed indefinitely = Kameo moving to Xbox2

If this is not the case (i.e. will still come out on Xbox) then

1) MS & Rare are plain stupid
2) XNA is not all it's cracked up to be
3) It will sell like shit

Look at that POS Azurik - it sold pretty well at Xbox launch, simply for being a launch title.

Kameo would sell far better as a Xenon launch title, than a late Xbox exlusive.

Of course there is the possibility that it will come out on both Xenon AND Xbox :-

1) Development costs on this title must be exorbitant - recoup as much as is possible - 2 SKUs
2) Showcases the advances Xenon gives (maybe :lol )
3) If XNA is what I understand it to be, then porting current Xbox engines and games to next gen should be the kind of thing it should help with. Maybe.

Look at it this way, if Xenon is going to garner developer support away from PS2 as lead platform (yes PS2, not PS3) then there must be some way for MS to achieve this or Xenon will fall flat on it's face. When Xenon launches, PS2 is sitting on 80+ million units (30 in US) which is a pretty significant figure - just because Xenon launches won't mean that people stop buying PS2 games; hell Madden 2006 will still sell more on PS2 even with a Xenon launch.

Anyway enough nonsense, time to go to the pub :lol

Damn Microsoft needs to clean house. Why did Nintendo let them get this bad. They went from DKC and early N64 titles to plummenting over the cliff.

Of course, all of this is moot if Xenon has BC ;p

And now that we've had our obligatory anti-Rare whine, back to the discussion!

Funny. Who is to blame for what is a disgraceful record in recent years. EA, Ubisoft, Sony. No Rare, Nintendo and Microsoft if they let it continue are to blame. Rare, whose games I enjoy, have become the laughing stock of the industry. Who do people associate with delays. Rare. To me thats sad.

that'd be awfully strange to see a high-profile rare release on xbox during/shortly after the xbox 2 launch.

winter 2005 is right now....

I suppose they're changing the game so its more attractive to the Xbox crowd, meaning any cuteness will be gone from the game, and you can expect Kameo to say "You son of a bitch!" at some point during a boss battle against a metal-thonged guy. Errr....

As far as I know, it was playable in its N64 version at E3 2002. They went to a lot of trouble of faking N64 development. ;)

XBox/XBox2, honestly, in their heart of hearts, I bet even Rare itself doesn't know what system Kameo will be released for. :p It's just so laughable. Give this another year or so and we're taking DNF proportions.

I tell you it's going to be announced for PS3, then 5 years later it'll be announced for Nintendo Revolution 2, 5 years later it'll be announced for xBox 4. The cycle will go on, and Rare will official doesn't need to release anygames forever but keep entertaining Gamers on GAF.

I believe all rare games from early on switched to Xenon...so it can have a huge launch...xbox is losing money so when xbox2 launches all cards will be on the table... its do or die... I think xbox2 launch titles will blow all past system launches up...

i do too :) can't wait.

I love looking at old Game Cube boxes and seeing Kameo listed on the back. The game is the biggest piece of vaporware* this generation. :)

*(Duke Nukem Forever is in a class of its own and no longer needs to be listed)
