Kanye goes on epic, disjointed rant on Ellen show

He reminds me a bit of Clown from Slipknot. They both have this idiot-savant dynamic where they start spewing their thoughts. A few bits and pieces sound coherent, but you're left scratching your head.

Some real stupid shit. The fact that the audience was clapping for that rambling nonsense is just sad.

I mean, what are they supposed to do, make the situation even more awkward?

It's a taped TV show, the crowd is there to go along with it. That's what they are brought in for.

What are you going to do?

I mean, if you don't watch the video and are going to shitpost, you're just being an ass.

If you're going to armchair diagnose people with mental illnesses you're just an ass.

Obviously, I can't do anything, but it's clearly wrong.

The childish backlash was unnecessary.

There are a lot of salient points in that "rant." He's right when he talks about there not being any real definable geniuses in the modern age

Hmm, Elon Musk? That's the one I think of. He's certainly trying to push society forward in several different ways.

This event wasn't bad at all, and I wouldn't even call it a rant. Dude just needs to take a breath and get his thoughts in order a bit better.

This is why I love Kanye tho

Rappers always talk about some crazy stuff, but who knows if it's real, or exaggeration?

Behind Kanye's crazed, maniacal, egotistical, and overly-ambitious lyrics, is a crazed, maniacal, egotistical, and overly-ambitious person.

bless him.

So making great music justifies going on a disjointed rant?

I'm still not understanding how it was disjointed. It wasn't Shakespearian prose by any means, but I was more than able to understand what he was saying in just one view.

Also, the people throwing out medical diagnoses are lol.

Then what he says should be able to stand on its own merit without someone needing to cite his accomplishments as rapper as a defense

He went from talking about Payless Shoes to stopping Bullying in a single breath and threw in Michael Jackson and Steve Jobs into the mix seconds later. If that's not disjointed, what would you call it? His mind wandered off into 3-4 different areas in 15 seconds. For a second, it even sounded like he was saying he called the president of Payless while in 5th grade.

It was either disjointed, scripted or has an attention span problem.

It was disjointed but vaguely connected. I made the connection that 5th grade Kanye had a shit wardrobe and got bullied. So he called Payless as grown up since they make the cheapest shit, because he wants to put fresh clothes on the young people who can't afford to look supa dupa fly on their parents minimum wage salary

I guess it's the kind of audience from Ellen. They hear a celebrity say he's against bullying and it's enough reason to start clapping.

Try every talk show that has ever existed

If you do not clap, you will be quickly expedited from the audience. They have no qualms about kicking you the fuck out. That's exactly why you watch late night shows or Wendy Williams or Oprah and the audience is in goddamn hysterics; before the show starts they are told what the deal is, and they either paid good money or have a good connect and they are not trying to fuck this up.

Omg the synesthesia bit sliding into fashion talk

Dude is legit sick, he needs help.

I disagree with this...

Kanye is very passionate and honest about what he is thinking/feeling...

I think part of the problem is, he doesn't put what he truly means into the right words so it comes out kinda crazy but if you figure out what he is really trying to say...it's actually pretty good.

I mean...what he was talking about with payless and eliminating bullying, makes alot of sense and actually a good goal if you think about what he is really meaning.

At this point I assume Kanye is into next level trolling. He didn't master the art of music, but has a Phd in trolling.

The guy is clearly passionate and open with how he's feeling, which I can appreciate. However, he sure seems to like talking about how amazing and genius he is, and how he's going to be remembered as a legend who helped positively impact the human race. I feel like the greatest inspirational figures didn't spend nearly as much time talking about how awesome they are, and more time actually acting upon it.

His heart's probably in the right place, I think, but damn if he doesn't have a hard time articulating his thoughts and coming across as a total egomaniac.

I get what he's trying to say, but I also feel like I just had a stroke.

I eventually got the message too but I wish someone would wake him the fuck up and educate him on why bullying won't end as soon as someone has a clean shirt on. Bullying is problem that runs much deeper than clothes and shoes. It is one of the reasons why the guy comes up as delusional to me.

do what you can, help where you can? Kanye isn't gonna solve all bullying in the world, but that kid being clowned on for having cheap clothes/shoes might be able to go a day w/o 'harmless ribbing' for what he's wearing.

Watched the video, didn't find it to be worthy of ridicule. Maybe he's an ego driven whack job. I don't know much about the man aside from listening to some of his music. If he really got in touch with Payless in an attempt to put out a line of cool kid approved, affordable shoes, I think that's pretty cool of him.

Just watched the "interview", what the fuck was that? He made zero sense. It was word salad, triple tossed.

Sometimes I have a difficult time articulating ideas and thoughts into words just like Kanye seems to. When I say things that don't really make sense, I get frustrated. When Kanye does it, he feels like he just blessed the world with the verbal equivalent to the cure for cancer.

waiting for Kanye's TED Talk, tbh.

So millions of dollars and years invested to make a brand of shirt to curb the bleeding for a day?

Bullying doesn't work that way. It is not contingent on clothes alone, is my point. Wears a nice shirt and gets bullied regardless. Maybe he has said shirt ripped off of him.

you have no point, really. You seem to just be mad at Kanye (for whatever reason... I mean going by your posts in this thread
vUiShx3.gif
), and wish to 'call him out on his shit', etc.

you can stay mad, tho. I guess? It's your life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I understood what he was trying to say but he did it in a VERY poor way.

His points:
*I have ideas that will help this current generation of humans.
*The #OscarsAreSoWhite shouldn't be thought of as a "Chris Rock joke" -- it's a serious problem that's holding back creativity and progress.
*There isn't a present day Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, or Picasso. People should be focused on that instead of the "TMZ life".
*We need to help people instead of bringing people down.
*Cool outfits are important. I want to make cool outfits for kids to help reduce bullying.
*Media creators who were considered crazy when they were alive are now looked at as people who influenced future generations.

He stated his points in "Kanye West fashion" but I don't think what he said was super crazy at all. Heck, some of the responses in this thread are great examples of what he (poorly) stated. Some of his goals are definitely unrealistic though.

I know nothing about him but for what little bits South Park does here and there (god I loved the fish sticks episode). Guy seems very out there.

What are you going to do?

They are prompted to clap, actually. She has a stage manager up there in the audience that also turns to them and prompts them to react.

That's not a joke? I've always thought that was just some nonsense. Man, if you think about it, that's pretty sad really.

Well shit....does the same go for shows like Conan O Brien and David Letterman?

Everyone has idea though, people see Kanye as a guy who makes music and some clothes, so what he talks about sounds like delusions of grandeur because people can't associate what he says with what he does himself.

Sooo I watched the complete video and I still don't understand how he plans on changing the world.

I mean, he bemoaned in this video that he met with Obama and all they cared about was Leonardo DiCaprio with his silly plans on fighting climate change and literally saving the world, while they looked at him weird when he talks about his clothes as if that's less important, even though Kanye really wanted a cool outfit as a kid!

The guy is so passionate, I love it and I know that he believes in his own "mission". It just seems like he deluded himself into thinking that his mission is saving the world by producing really expensive clothes?

Ideas that could change the world are a dime a dozen, everybody has fucking ideas. Only a very tiny fraction of people have the resources, and exposure that Kanye has.

He's sitting there on national television telling people that he has ideas, as if we're supposed to be impressed by that? When asked to give one specific example, he goes on a 4 minute word salad rant without saying a damn thing. The 1 idea that he so generously shared with us was making a cheap clothing line for poor kids so they won't get bullied. Is he really that thick? As if wearing a brand (regardless if you think it looks good or not) that is synonymous with being poor, is somehow going to deter bullying. Lmao.
