Kanye West Appreciation/Hype Thread (Late Registration - Aug 30th)

Yeah, lol. He got so pissed at the dude.

Man, I'm listening to more of what's up at kanyewestsounds.com, some of it is TERRIBLE. The instrumental for Slow Jams doesn't match with Jamie Foxx's singing at all, so it sounds awful to my ears. Jesus Walks is ruined by the "ooo-ooo-ooo" part that starts at 1:07. Workout Plan isn't as bad, but still the chorus sounds a touch off. No matter, I dig the Diamonds and Get Em High remixes.

Really good album so far. Not an instant classic like College Dropout was but there are a slew of hot songs on this one. Even the one with Paul Wall called "Drive Slow" was damn nice.

so are all the tracks that have been leaked/released so far, besides Diamonds and Golddigger, not really LR tracks? My brother gave me a CD he d/l'ed a few weeks ago and said it was Late Registration, but i don't think many of hte songs are really album tracks.. Some of the tracks are killer on that too. "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is great but i guess its not on the album. A couple other ones, there's this song with a killer Al Green style soul beat, chorus goes something like "I can't see myself gettin out the game, no time soon", and that song where he uses movie titles throughout the whole thing (with another killer beat).

That's 'out of the game', what I was talking about earlier. Fuckin hot. It's like he could've dropped a full release album last year with some of the hot shit he had.

Oh, and what's up with the interview on MTV? Star and Buck and another morning show was talking way too much about it on the drive home. Almost insinuating he came out of the closet or said something shocking about being 'confused' when he was younger.

I know last time, all the songs that didn't make the CD were leaked. Also, the original CD was leaked before the retail and it had different versions/samples in songs. Since Kanye talked about loving to download stuff, I wonder if he was responsible for that?

As of yesterday afternoon, he was still waiting for to leak.

after listening to this album i cant get over how good it is

everything is mature and polished

touch the sky is just about the coolest song in a long time and gone is so amazing
I <3 Kanye

when i heard that camron song, i was like who the hell is this? Cam sounded so good on that song too. Also, how come game didnt drop a verse hahahahah.

A lil OT, but did 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' with Murphey Lee ever come out anywhere?

Kanye's beat was lovely on that one. That was a damned good song actually.

I'm up to Drive Slow and this is already a pretty damn good album, especially because of Gold Digger. I had no clue Foxx had a voice that damn good (Never saw Ray). Good shit :D

I'm the "retard"? Continue making absolute statements about a genre you know nothing about. Kanye is the only "intelligent rapper"? That's ridiculous and insulting.

Oh, and I'm enjoying this.

Listen to Slow Jamz off the first album.
Oh yea, now I remember that track, That's a good one too. Now I'm up to the 1st sierra leone track, and this has officially become one of the best rap albums of the year with ease. It's soooooo good :D Kanye's a genius with production.

The only intelligent rapper? who said that? Not me...Idiot.

"Kanye is the only educated rapper out there. He's the only one with a real picture of the world."

I don't really care what you said. You implied as much, and arguing semantics isn't going to get you out of it. What made you make the statement in quotations if you don't truly believe Kanye is the only educated/intelligent rapper?

After listening to the album all the way through, I've realized that it can only be described in 2 words: Instant Classic. Best Rap Album of the Year and a strong contender for being the Best Album of the Year. The production is insanely amazing, and no rap album I can remember has ever been that good for over 70 minutes. So much variety, so many great guest artists. It's better than I ever imagined it could be. It's definitely a must have for anybody who likes rap in the LEAST bit. I'm LOVING IT. :D

Man the beats are so cold and mellow. Like I just want to pop it into my car stereo and drive around for an hour.

it's like you listen to a track and halfway thru, you think "wow, this might be the best track on the album..."

then you hear the next track, and halfway thru, you think "wow, this might be the best track on the album..."

then you hear the next track, and halfway thru, you think "wow, this might be the best track on the album..."

then you hear the next track, and halfway thru, you think "wow, this might be the best track on the album..."

...

wow

So is the general concensus that this is better than College Dropout? Because CD was just as The Faceless Master described Late Registration IMO (Except for School Spirit. Never really liked that song.).

As of right now, I think "Gone" is the best track. It just goes from a light happy melody, progressively gettign more and more tense, then it peaks and starts to get lighter, then get's intense again and just stops......shit I've moved onto "Late" and that's great as well. Faceless master has a point :P

BTW, this album dominates college drop out in just about every way. Production, lyrics, artists, even skits. It's just sooooo much better. Get it any way possible.

Yeah, when you're verse is almost as good as nas's then you kno your lyrics are good.

I got a system in my car, and I was just driving around bumping this cd, and people were like wtf is that shit. One dude was next to me on a stop, and he actually asked me what i was listenin to hahah, was like fuck man that shit is hot

Touch the Sky reminds me of Jigga's Encore. Kanye wit is intact. This LP is a classic. I'll call it now. It's musical. It's greatness. It's a Celebrations Bitches!!!

I hate you all who got it early :(. I refuse to DL it even though I will buy it, and I just have to live with the fact that those bastards in Toronto got it early AND signed. This will be the longest 11 days of my life.

i didnt get it early, i heard celebration in my friend's car today. :D

Gone is def one of my favs, buit i dont think you can have a fav track cause as soon as you think its your fav song you listen to another one and you are like, "damn thats my fav song"

Man, I cant wait to buy the album also, I wanna see what the packaging is like, this will be the first album I buy in a long time

Listened to about half of it, so far so good, pretty much better than College Dropout.

Gonna burn it and go for a walk to check it out.

I'll be picking it up on the 30th. Along with Moistboyz. Hooray for good music days.

And to the guy who says Kanye is the only educated rapper out there? Tee hee. Aren't we off in our own little false world. Mr. Lif, Dälek, El-P... music does exist that isn't played on your local Clearchannel owned Top 40 station, man.

Debatable so far. It's great, but it lacks the energy of the first album.

So it's a tossup between the quality that this exudes...or the interest of the freshman effort. Hard to choose.

:\

"It's a celebration, bitches!!"

But Animal is an EDM junky who plays the guitar and loves '70s rock! Why would he know anything about rap!?!?!?!?!?!

...really, Animal, stop being so ignorant.

Driving around today with this in the car, twice, I'm convinced it's better than College Dropout. I think a big part of it is that it isn't fucking half skits. Nothing on here is quite as ridiculously good as "Workout Plan," but it's still a fucking great album. I think it'll probably bump its way up to my #2 favorite hip-hop album this year.

There were 5 or 6 skits on College Dropout, and 5 or 6 on LR. LR has more tracks, so it's a lot less obvious.

But like I said before--better in quality...but man oh man, I expected more energy in this album than there wound up being. It's a little harder to swallow when you don't have stuff like School Spirit and New Workout Plan to kick away the cobwebs.

Didnt College Dropout have like 5-6 skits and half the tracks had guests? :lol

Ehh, do you know what you're talking about JPRaup a.k.a. 'big kanye west fan'?

Anyway, so far so good. One of my favourites is 'touch the sky.' He's not my favourite rapper but the album is pretty solid.

EDIT: my way home=worst track on the album.

Um..other educated mc's:

Talib Kweli
Mos Def
Common
Wordsworth

Just to name a few.

His point was stupid as fuck, but don't tell me you're gonna diss an era of fock that featured Led Zeppelin, Queen, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Rush and Boston (among a slew of others) in their prime.

Still not a classic to me but I like:

Touch the Sky (even though the sample is obvious)
Addiction
DFSL
Celebration (how is this sarcastic?)

In short better than College Dropout.
In CD he was more of a producer first, rapper second (ie a bit incohesive) now I get the feeling he's the complete artist.
