Dude, get out my head. ;p

It's been a slow year for hip-hop those are the only albums I've sought out and actively listened to.

Mouse and the Mask would be better without all the skits.

See...I'm still giving this record a chance. I love the first three tracks (excluding the intro), but I don't like Drive Slow or My Way Home -- such terribly boring songs. I don't know how people are saying that no track is skipable, there's a handful of skip tracks on this (excluding skits). Crack Music desperately needed The Game to spit something...but I'm not surprised Kanye only asked him to do the chorus -- Kanye's ego is far too enormous.

I think Game did this track when he recorded Dreams and probably said alot of GgGgGgGg UNIT stuff so either him or Kanye cut that stuff off due to the beef with 50 and Game.

Nah, I doubt it. He could've asked him to re-record. At least he let Nas do his thing. Addiction is another good song, btw.

the only skippable song for me right now is Roses, great lyrics, but beat is to slow, actually now that i think about, i would never skip it, haha, great song

I love Celebration. Hahaha, I just get this vivid image of Dave Chappelle as Rick James.

I seriously cant get enough of "Gone", such an amazing beat and especially when Kanye comes back and raps the last verse, god damn its perfect

This is one of the best albums ever. The beats are really great. What's funny is that my friend's make fun of me for saying "the best album of the year will be released soon," because they're into hardcore gangsta rap, like C Murder and BG. I hate that type of music.

Meanwhile, heads have been raving about Kanye's improved flows and lyrics and Late Registration's experimental, yet superior production since the album leaked onto the internet late last week. XXL and Rolling Stone Magazine agree. XXL handed the LP a classic "XXL" rating in its September issue while Rolling Stone also gave it a perfect score, 5 stars. Reputed publications such as the aforementioned Time, New York Times and Newsweek, are also praising the album as arguably the year's best effort to date.

"It's hard when people are depending on you to have an album that's not just good, but inspired," West said in a statement. "I mean, my music isn't just music- it's medicine."

With less than six days left before the album's official release, West is keeping busy. This Sunday, August 28th, the Chicagoan is set to perform at MTV's Video Music Awards in Miami. He is also slated to perform at an in-store appearance at the Tower Records in Lincoln Center in New York next Tuesday, the day of Late's release. The performance will air as a concert special on the E! Network. He's later slated to make an in-store appearance in Chicago's Borders as well as hold an album release party September 1st. West will then go on a series of television performances starting with an outdoor set on "Good Morning America" on September 2nd. Ye will then hit the stage to launch the NFL season live on ABC on September 8th. Meanwhile, West's appearance and performance on "The Oprah Winfrey" show is also set to air September 8th.

Fans who would like a sneak preview of Late Registration can visit to their local Finish Line stores to sample the album. Attendees at the listening sessions will be given $10 coupons to use for Finish Line purchases. (Some restrictions apply).

Kanye West's Late Registration featuring production by Just Blaze and guest appearances by Jay-Z, Nas, Cam'ron, Common, Paul Wall and Adam Levine of Maroon 5 is slated to hit stores August 30th.

If anything, Kanye West is too modest. Yeah, he's got an ego or two -- he's liable to compare himself to Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Bill Gates and Prince, sometimes in the same sentence. But he pours all that ego into musical ambition. As he says, "I ain't putting nothing out unless I can talk shit afterward." On Late Registration, the Louis Vuitton Don doesn't just set out to create pop music -- he wants to be pop music. So he steps up his lyrical game, shows off his epic production skills, reaches higher, pushes harder and claims the whole world of music as hip-hop turf. He aims for what he calls "that Coldplay, Portishead, Fiona Apple style" in his mad quest to explode every clich? about hip-hop identity. Can he get it done? Yes, he can. And like Reggie Jackson used to say, it ain't bragging if you can do it.

West blew up last year with the bling/backpack synthesis of The College Dropout, the preppy-fabulous debut smash that people still can't stop arguing about. For some, Dropout proves hip-hop is in a rut, as an example of what everybody else isn't doing; for others, it proves hip-hop is still evolving, as music nobody outside hip-hop could make. Whatever your pet theory on the state of hip-hop, Dropout gave you a challenge, flaws and all. But Late Registration is an undeniable triumph, packed front to back, so expansive it makes the debut sound like a rough draft. West has turned into a real MC, earning the right to boast about opening a store for aspiring Kanye wanna-be's: "But if they ever flip sides like Anakin/ You will sell everything, including the mannequin/They got a new bitch, now you're Jennifer Aniston."

All over Late Registration, he indulges his sentimental R&B-poet side ("Roses"), his Seventies slow-jam love jones ("Celebration"), his wit ("Gold Digger"), his hard-ass politics ("Crack Music") and his love of Maroon 5 ("Heard 'Em Say," featuring Adam Levine). He calls in the heavyweights: Jay-Z, Common, Brandy, Cam'ron, Consequence, the Game, Paul Wall. But his MVP is Fiona Apple producer Jon Brion, whose previous hip-hop experience is zero. A bold move, yet a brilliant one -- Brion brings in live orchestrations and weird instruments as raw material for West's imagination. Give 'Ye a harpsichord and he will make it funky.

If this album has an emotional stunner ? la "Jesus Walks," it's "Hey Mama," where West honors his mother, who had to work nights to keep on the lights. It loops a simple la-la-la vocal hook into a soul-sonic force, like Side Two of Prince's Sign 'o' the Times after aliens hacked into it. It's the best family-affair tearjerker since Ghostface's "All That I Got Is You," as West raps, "Can I cry, please?/Gimme a verse of 'You Are So Beautiful to Me.'" He also promises her he'll go back to school, though we'll believe it when we see the tuition check. "Gone" builds a totally mental funk loop out of an Otis Redding groan. Even weirder, "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" flips a James Bond theme into an ominous lament for slave labor in Africa.

"We Major" is the high point, but it's a close call on an album where nothing sucks except the skits. It's a splashy Love Boat disco groove, featuring a guest rap from Nas -- a megasurprise considering that West produced Jay-Z's Nas-bashing classic "Takeover." Midway through, the music fades to silence and then West asks, "Can I talk my shit again?" The beat kicks back in and West proudly talks his shit, still going strong as the groove rolls on past the seven-minute mark. After the triumph of Late Registration, he can talk all he wants.

Yea umm this album's the shit.
Don't miss out when this gets released guys, definately more delicious than College Dropout; which is saying a lot.

Great album. I don't like the new version of Hey Mama though. The Freshman Adjustment version was better IMO. My favorite song might be "Drive Slow" (dope beat, and reminds me of just cruising and blazing on the strip in Miami) or "Gone". I think that's the track with Cam. I like that one too. Good album, only hate Roses. PEACE.

WTF? What is the name of these tracks?

Also, I am not as impressed with "Touch the Sky" as everyone else. Mostly because of the laziness shown in making the track. Kanye's tracks are usually much more layered. He pretty much is just looping Curtis Mayfield with a drum track over it.

My favorite has to be "Bring me Down". "Gone" is really, really awesome. I love that track and I think Cam steals the show.

Consequence's verses (He's the 3rd guy to sing, right? The other guy start's singing about cam, so I assume that's him) are ridiculous on "Gone". Just every line involves Gone, yet he still constructs a great story. Amazing lyrics.

yeah, i used to skip Bring Me Down, but now its becoming one of my favorite tracks, and Kanye channels the voice of Tupac on that "Hater niggas marry hater bitches and have hater kids" line.

some old guy talks or some guy chants something about "BROKE FI BROKE". really you don't want to know. Kanye should have dropped the skits and replaced them with some of the good songs from Freshman Adjustment.

The best parts about skit #3:

"...eating all of our cereals with forks cause we wanted to save the milk, do you remember dat?!"
"do you member all those christmases when yo momma walk in the room and pretend she the christmas tree? member dat, hm?!"

:lol

i think his skits arent totally useless, i mean some tracks from freshman adjustment would have been perfect, but they arent tooo bad

My Way
Gossip Files
Old Hey Mama
Livin A Movie
Keep The Receipt
Wack N!ggas
Doing Fine
Home
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Self Concious( this is better than All Falls Down)

All should have been on Late Registration instead of skits. I know it's a lot, but I love me lotsa 'Ye.

You guys need to here the two tracks on the Japanese release

We can make it better and Back to Basics

We Can Make It Better is fantastic

Wonder why it was cut from the album...

actually I read an artical about a day in the life of Jay Z and Def Jam's international A&R was begging for Jay to get Kanye to add bonus tracks for the overseas release. That track "Late" ISN'T on that version but the orginial Diamonds is along with the other 2 tracks mentioned.
Kanye didn't add Bittersweet or We Can Make It Better to this album because he said it didn't go well with the album's theme. That's the same reason the orginial Diamonds is a bonus track. He was going to cut it out completely after the heat he got from jewlery makers but since a video for it was out, he threw it in as a bonus.

That other track just sounds like the first version of The Corner which will probably end up on the re-release of Be which features remixes.

Picked up the limited edition after work this morning. The packing is niice. (digipac style)

There's a booklet attached to the centre, and a foldout poster that is tucked in a pocket on the side of the case. One side's Kanye and the other's the mascot.
