I haven't listened to game soundtracks for a long time, but I like this OST. My favorite songs are "A Crimson Rose and a Gin Tonic" and "Que Sera Sera." Are these artists hired for Namco or are they independent? They have to be independent, some of it sounds too good to be completely under Namco.

Yeah, the music from that game is really great, and actually something you can play to non-gaming people, and they like it :p

My favorite is "Tenshifuumi no Okurimono" (Angel Flavour's Present), from Stage 7. Reminds me a lot of modern electronic music like Telefon Telaviv and others.

Not quite. All of the artists not with Namco had successful careers before Katamari Damacy. For example, Charlie Kosei, who sings "Que Sera Sera", has been around for nearly 40 years and sang the TV theme to Lupin III back in 1971. Yu Miyake of Namco's sound team (responsible for the Tekken 3, TTT, and Ridge Racer V OSTs, and "nanananan katamari") approached various artists and asked if they would collaborate with him to do the Katamari soundtrack.

Thanks, I figured the OST was too eclectic to be done by a similar group of artists.

My favorite is probably "Sakurairo no Kisetsu". What can I say, I have a weakness for choirs. Especially a choir of children, it's so charming it melts my heart. :p

Also, "Katamari Stars" is really nice and relaxing. And "You are smart" is really cool in a funky kind of way, almost like a slow motion drum 'n bass.

And of course, "Lonely Rolling Star" is a cheesy retro classic. :p

yeah charlie kosei even has his own bar that he plays at.

Shigeru matzutaki (ending theme guy) is a famous singer in japan thats been around for a looong time (hes mostly famous for his sun tan haha) hes like a barry manilow type i guess

kenji ninuma is a famous enka singer (getsu to oji)

"Que Sera Sera" is by far my favourite
