Best Songs with Vocals in Games (Hidden Gems Hunt)

Came here to post Lohse's song but see it was already in the 2nd post.

Lohse goat. That or Hades.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this topic, I didn't really count on anything. I thought that now, as usual, by tradition, there would be tracks from new games or tracks under license from EA games and the like. But no, we went surprisingly well, we got a very good variety, in fact, we covered all platforms, old and new, we have almost all genres of games including MMO and even Gatcha games, as well as a fairly large list of retro games. And I was very much and pleasantly surprised by the activity of people, I didn't expect that users would like it, so initially I counted on about 1-2 pages if I was lucky, and we are already slowly approaching the third.

It will be more difficult to post further, because the most obvious things are being posted little by little and are already taking up space. Although in fact there are still several well-known games from which no one has posted anything yet, which surprises me a little, but I won't give any hints. :messenger_grinning:

The second song is blocked for me. What was it? I've played IW and I'm curious.
Try searching for this on YouTube - infinite wealth - the invaluable
There are versions from the singer's official channel, they can be blocked from different countries. And there is a version from the game, if you watch the version from the game with gameplay, keep in mind there will be spoilers.

I would like to give honorable mention to vocal versions of songs that were not used in-game:

I'm guessing this doesn't count because it's a band, but it's a great song:

The P5X main theme goes pretty hard as well. I'm hoping it will receive a global release in 2025.

Also here's the opening animation since it kinda goes hand in hand. :p

In the days of PS2 and partly PS3, there was a series of games called Ar Tonelico, a game world that was very closely connected with music and in particular with songs. There was even a special language created for the game itself, which gave the game a very unique sound, and in fact the magic in the game worked from the music, the main most powerful songs were called - Hymn (If we don't want to go into spoilers). A few Hymn from each part.

Ar tonelico

Ar tonelico 2

Ar Tonelico 3 - (This part was on PS3)

I specifically tried to find versions with subtitles, so that it was clear that this was the language of the game. :messenger_grinning:

Secret of Mana on the PS1 was quite the surprise for me. Great song and the girl sings in Swedish?!
The singer is Annika Ljungberg, she was contacted by Yoko Shimomura after she saw Annika in an episode of Baywatch.
The lyrics are 100% fucking anime'ish nonsense and that's because the lyrics were written by Shimomura. She travelled to Sweden and a Japanese speaker in Stockholm translated the lyrics for them, the translator had no access to the beat/melody, so making it work later while recording was a challenge as they had to communicate without an interpreter. The language of music saved the day!

Live reaction upon hearing the song:

Bonus: In Tekken 2's intro you hear a girl whisper barely audibly in Swedish "Älskar *inaudible* när du sover, dina ögonlock, dina... ", (Love *inaudible* while you sleep, your eyelids, your...). Most of it is drowned out by the beat.
The story behind it is pretty weird. The singer, Camilla followed her mother to Japan to visit a longtime penpal in Tokyo in 1995, the penpal's daughter had dreams of becoming a singer so Camilla followed her to an audition/recording in Yokohama. The producers asks if Camilla can sing too? Nein! no singing! But can you talk a little? Sure! She sits down and records some random brain droppings/improv for fun and today she has no recollection of what she actually says.
Yeah, roll the Joey meme again.

10/10 right here imo. Hunt Showdown has so many bangers like that its ridiculous.. especially for an online shooter.

Even though I don't play Hunt Showdown (I tried it once during a trial period, but it just didn't stick with me), I really dig the soundtrack and the sound design. They have a couple of great songs, including the main theme which is basically a dude humming for 3 minutes, lol.

That being said, here are few more stuff I think it's worth mentioning:

This Moullinex song which was used in a game demo called Interaction Isn't Explicit。that I've played back at the start of 2024.

Speaking of great music in gacha games, the team behind Arknights has been dropping banger after banger for quite some time, so here’s one of their song that has remained on my main gaming playlist ever since its release in 2023:

Then there's Crooked Still's 'Ain't No Grave,' which if I remember correctly plays during the Jacksonville segment in TLOU2. There's also 'Little Sadie' and 'Ecstasy' from the same band that feature in TLOU2. I recommend checking them out if you enjoy this one!

Basically the entire soundtrack composed by Jessica Curry for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture since it's a core part of the whole experience. Speaking of, it was quite a surreal experience playing this game for the first time, especially since it coincided with the time we were still stuck in COVID lockdowns.

And that's it for now. I'll probably post some more tomorrow though. :p

as far as I am aware, this song was never actually released anywhere outside of NPCs in the game singing or humming it:

and these three here I love. they were playable on the stereo inside your apartment in Fahrenheit:

I already updated the playlist last night, so everything that will be posted today will go to the next update, but try to surprise me. We had an event yesterday, after 3 pages a person was found who posted a track from Bloodborne. Although I expected it on the first page, considering that usually you can't go to the any Sony topic without seeing messages about Bloodborne. But here there was complete silence, from which I can conclude that this remaster is not really needed, I need to write a letter to Sony so that they don't rush with the remake, people don't really want it. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The Yakuza/Like a Dragon series is littered with amazing tracks that sound really good. I liked a song so much that I start making videos in youtube.

Here's my favourite from Yakuza 4...in Japanese by original VA

And then I liked few others...the English VA as cringe...so I used A.I. to bring back OG actor to sing it...just for fun among friends

New HSR song just dropped an hour ago

I know that people are still divided on FFXV to this day, but you have to give them that they've delivered a banger OST. Here's the other FFXV song from Florence that hasn't left my playlist yet (the other one is already mentioned in the OP):

Thank God we don't discuss games here, their quality, etc., we discuss music and vocals from games. So if you like a song, just post it and don't think about it.

I looked through the list in the first post. We did not have many positions on Fightings, so... few old compositions from Capcom and their fightings to diversify the list.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Here's one I know of that's... kind of unexpected. But this game is full of straight-up bangers, in my opinion:

As a fan of the "classic rock" style and D&D, I find myself booting this game up sometimes just to listen to the soundtrack.

This is a pretty obscure one I'd say. The song "Sea of Love" is old and has many different versions by different artists over the years. This version was made for this game specifically though.

I remember during the great WoW Migration of 2021, this was the song that caught the attention of some WoW players:

For a long time, FFXIV had this reputation of being some "gay weeb game" to the WoW community. But when fans were fed up with Shadowlands and were looking for alternatives, this song got posted a lot and managed to peak their curiosity, and for good reason. Soken wrote this shit while was going through Chemo, and it's arguably his best work.

I thought this was a settled debate in favor of the DK rap years ago
I won't deny it, so as not to bring down the wrath of DK fans. But we're not making a rating here, we're looking for beautiful songs with vocals in games, plus we're looking at what people like from game music. There won't be a rating here. :messenger_grinning:
P.S. - As usual, I updated the first post, added new positions to the playlist. Many thanks to everyone.

Two pages in and Sanctuary finally gets posted. I weep for this generation, at least Snake Eater made the first page!

Thread: Hidden Gems
Everyone: So anyway here's a AAA blockbuster
.Hack has some great music
An extremely underrated series in my opinion, much better than SAO.
It's not as bad as I thought. We have quite a few games that are not the most popular, it could have been much worse, people could have started posting music from EA games. Well, in general, I knew that this would happen, so I immediately wrote - that if you have favorite tracks, you can also post them. So here I am partly to blame. :messenger_grinning:

Don't forget!
How can you forget such a classic.
It's a pity that the new PSO turned out to be so-so. I spent so many hours playing this game as a child...

It had a very small print run outside of Japan as far as I remember, so the price for it is unlikely to fall (Especially a complete set and good condition). The price tag is very high.
I always liked this series very much, when the Hybrid pack came out in Japan, I managed to order it for my collection, it is one of my prides.

One day I'll just bite the bullet and end up paying for it, I really want to complete the set because I love the series.

And that's so damn cool. That boxart is amazing

I really liked it, and the fact that they shoved both a movie and a game in there, it makes this package doubly enjoyable, and the small artbook is of course also a plus =)
