Scientology strikes again!

Holmes Flees From The "Factory"

Katie Holmes won't portray Andy Warhol's protege in a new movie because apparently Tom Cruise believes it may be bad for her image says The New York Post.

The 26-year-old former Dawson's Creek star was reportedly set to agree to play drug addict Edie Sedgwick in "Factory Girl".

A source said: "Edie was in and out of mental institutions and on all sorts of psychotropic drugs. Tom doesn't believe in those drugs because of his belief in Scientology."

Holmes' rep confirmed to the paper that "Katie is not attached to that project."

Yes, he doesn't believe in them because he thinks space aliens from the distant past inhabit the bodies of doctors and scientists in order to plant false ideas about jesus into their patients' heads.

Who takes career advice from someone as looney as that?

Anything that keeps Katie Holmes out of movies is A-OK with me.

WTF is wrong with you?

Katie you are losing major cool points with this Tom Cruise crap. You use to be a major hot little girl who played tough roles which were naughty and saucy.

That's not what Scientologists believe...is it?

Do you prefer the company of men?

Katie Holmes is hot. And she's not a bad actress.

That's the short explaination, but pretty much, yeah. It's gets even crazier and more convoluted.

regardless of whether or not you think this scientology crap is looney, she is PLAYING the part of someone who takes drugs, its not like they are asking her to take drugs herself. Maybe someone should inform this retard that its called ACTING for a reason.

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
This is mind control, Jedi mind trick pimp shit. If they do a sequel to American Pimp or Pimps Up, Hoes Down, Mr. Cruise needs to do the foreword

Damn! Tom has lost it, he has his claws into Katie and today it was reported that he's trying to get David and Victoria Beckham into this scientologist crap. :lol

Wait, people take Scientology seriously? Or is Tom Cruise the only one that isn't in on the joke. I thought it was just a giant tax shelter.

People take it really seriously. Some parts of the world, mostly in Germany, consider it organized crime and it's under investigation by a variety of agencies for a whole laundry list of crimes.

The media is really enjoying jumping on Tom Cruise as the next Wacko Jacko. Especially with the original headed for either the border or the plunger.

I can't wait until september and they break up and we can move on from this annoying publicity stunt.

I hope that's the case for her. Tom is going to fuck up her career with his Scientology bullshit it they are truly and item. He can pick and choose his roles--Katie is far away from having that luxury.

Scientology will end up costing Cruise all the women in his life, by the time he's done with it.

Luckily for Cruise he's rich and famous and could probably break free from the chains of Scientology if he wanted. Any average Joe off the street who gets suckered into that shit is pretty much stuck for life it seems

Australia, actually.. Hubbard apparently once called Australia a backwards nation where global trends are 25 years late in arriving. Well, it's been 55 since Dianetics came out..

Regardless of Austrailia, it's Germany that has problems with it as well.

Part of me wants to ask what the difference between this decision and the other decisions by actors/actresses who turn down roles because of similar conflicts with beliefs held by themselves or someone close to them, but then I understand this involves Scientology and Tom Cruise, and I don't much care to be painted as a Scientology defender, even though my opinion on this has nothing to do with it.

That said, Katie Holmes isn't a terribly good actress in my book regardless.

The main difference is that she accepted the role and then dropped out because her nutcase boyfriend's cult frowns upon drugs.

She's letting someone who she's been dating for a month pick her roles based on his crackpot religion that's being investigated for criminal activities.

... That's why.

Criminal activities...? Like what? As I understand it, they get plenty of money by overcharging for books, services, and travel expenses. It may be bizarre but I don't see where it becomes illegal.

Sure, but a) it's Hollywood and b) Scientology is hardly the first religion (or whatever you care to dub it) that's against drugs. Surely this can't be THAT surprising.
