What visionaries Nintendo and then Sega were, rejecting Playstation and Ken Kutaragi's vision, only to be humiliated in the market by it.

Acting all nonchalant about having something super rare that's worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in his closet.

I'd like to see another homebrew for this "Console". Super boss gaiden is funny but the SNES and CD version are exactly the same.

History revealed that Sony had no intention to just stay Nintendo partners, I'm not saying Nintendo are nice guys but that add on/console would only have benefited Sony and they would've made the "PS2" alone with the same kind of huge success anyway. Nintendo was stupid to not try their chance harder with Phillips and to double down on expensive but tiny cartridges for the Nintendo 64 while not try to at least include the 64DD disks as the base medium for the console.

As for Sega, I wonder what terms Sony offered them, but Sega of Japan were too arrogants at least twice: First when they laughed at Sony and then when they refused the deal for the Sillicon Graphics tech for the Saturn.

ssssooooooo glad this didnt harpen switch would never become #1 zelda would be walk and talk crud and be mario would become gay

Nintendo betrayed Sony in there eyes. Sony was completely rip shit cause Nintendo fought them over music rights and then canceled the deal.

It's 100% why Sony launched into Playstation full steam.
But the reason for betraying Sony was the draconian royalties. Sony would get 100% of the CD royalties, that's if Nintendo launched a Super Mario PS in CD they would have to pay to Sony for the royalties and the manufacturing. Nintendo would keep royalties for the cartridge sales only. So for Sony it was the same launching a Nintendo PlayStation or the PlayStation 1, they would collect all the royalties regardless.

Sony intended to basically colonize Nintendo.

This guy single handedly humbled Nintendo and put them in their place first try 🤣

I love it, honestly wish Nintendo didn't abandon it.

Sony fully intended on pulling a Daniel Plainview on Nintendo first.

Exactly. It wasn't just the royalties but also final approval.

Sony had the added motive of the Super CD as another medium to profit off of (see: UMD, MiniDisc, etc.), as they launched an e-book reader in 1990 that used the discs.
