Summer Games Fest has a record 60+ partners including PlayStation

Funny to see they list Switch 2 instead of Nintendo.
Does playstation not normally attend or something?
Sometimes they have one or two things in the event. This year Kojima is announced to be there, I assume to show the DS2 launch trailer.

And since Sony normally has their early June/late May SoP/showcase around these days, the Doritos Pope also counts it as part of the Summer Doritos Fest.

You mean including Namco (which we all know is there for publishing Miyazaki's next GOTY winner). Playstation will probably just promote LGBT rights or smth.

Hasn't been a great show, certainly not compared to E3. But I have to give it to Geoff, he is almost single handedly keeping these showcase events going through sheer willpower.

Based on how he keeps saving the giant/megaton announcements for the end of the year, I think he has made TGAs the new E3.

SGF is still a complimentary piece, like Gamescom Live.

That is weird, especially once you consider that Nintendo hasn't shown anything at SGF before and often skips TGA as well (though they've occasionally had big-ish announcements there like Bayonetta 3 and Sephiroth in Smash).

I bet it's just going to be a Switch 2 commercial/trailer with no new information and they save all the actual reveals for their June Direct.

I want to see new god of war, and i pray its not some woke horseshit Ragnarok was. Give me gow2018 style God of War in Egypt, and i'll be happy. Also want it to run on an new engine because it's pretty darn clear they've maxed theirs, which is very ps4 centered.

Isn't PlayStation there most years? I remember a year or two ago the show finished with Neil Druckmann coming up on stage and announcing Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. I don't get why PlayStation being there is the major headline out of the participant list.

Nintendo's literally never participated in SGF at all, so I feel like them having their logo this year as a participant is the big headline.

I've read that they always send people to see what's going on at SGF to assess whether to attend for future years, and it looks like 2025 is finally the moment for them to do it.

Having a pseudo-e3 replacement without any of the platform holders makes for a lame show, so I'm glad to see all 3 are participating this year.

SIE always throws Geoff a bone, so I'm expecting a small game for this year announced here (and probably a playable demo of DS2 as well):
2021: Death Stranding Director's Cut
2022: The Last of Us Part I
2023: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (release date)
2024: LEGO Horizon Adventures

It's not weird, it's not specifically for the Opening Night Live stream, and Nintendo can just have playable demos instead.

Does Summer Games Fest generally include product names instead of corporate names on their partners list if they're providing demos instead of trailers? I haven't looked at these lists closely in the past, but that's the thing that seems "weird" here (though Nintendo appearing in any form is also somewhat weird since they never have in the past).

I still remember when Nintendo revealed Cranky Kong or something at one of Dorito King's events. Good times!

No, that's just Nintendo choosing to present itself as 'Nintendo Switch 2' for marketing. In the same way SIE always presents itself as 'PlayStation'.

I assume it's just a 3rd party (or to be specific indies) sizzle of Switch 2 games, none of them being from Nintendo, or just a Switch 2 generic trailer.

Or maybe there will be some game that will be a third party Switch 2 exclusive.
