All I need is a historical total war announcement and it would be a 10/10 show for me.

Yes please. It's about time we had a proper historical TW title.

I don't want any Saga bullshit. No sequel to Three Kingdoms. I needs to be a real epic like........

Medieval 3 please.

Yes, brother! This is what the people want! If CA announce this I'd fap myself into a coma.

My predictions....

* Street Fighter 6 - Season 3 Teaser
* Onimusha 3 Remaster Teaser
* Resident Evil 9 Teaser
* Judas Gameplay
* Bioshock Reboot?
* More Arc Raiders gameplay?
* More Arcade Archives game announcements

blacktout blacktout Looks like Nintendo decided to skip doing a Direct this summer, so maybe they will drop new trailers of Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond at SGF.

I mean, I would love this, especially if it meant we finally get a Metroid Prime 4 release date, and it would be a huge get for Geoff to essentially have a Direct Mini embedded within SGF, but I doubt this will happen, because if Nintendo really had three game trailers they wanted to drop right now, they would scrape up some third party announcements and throw together some form of Direct. Even if they don't have any more major first party announcements for this year, they can just tape a teaser for a future game on the end (see: the Breath of the Wild sequel reveal in 2019).

What's more likely if there's no June Direct is that we're looking at one of two scenarios:

1. They didn't want to complicate the Switch 2 launch period with a Direct, and they'll drop their usual summer show in July instead, probably a week or so before Bananza launches. They really don't have any unfinished business between now and then, since they have games dated between now and the end of August, and their only undated summer game is Drag X Drive, which is digital only and can be dropped whenever. Their next game without a release date is probably MP4 and that could easily be dated in July if it's dropping in September. Kirby Air Riders is probably a late 2025 release, since it would be kind of nuts to drop another racing game too close to MKW.

2. The next general Direct is in August or September, and we'll get a DKB Direct and some twitter Nintendo Today news drops between now and then to announce the DxD release date and possibly announce some old games being ported to Switch 1 (like Yoshi's Wooly World and Kirby Planet Robobot) in the interim. The only issue here is how they would handle MP5, but in this scenario it's probably an October game or it gets its own dedicated Direct. Or maybe a miracle happens and SGF actually does have the release date trailer.

I mentioned these three games as they're the only first-party titles left for the rest of the year (outside of Drag x Drive, which yeah, is probably getting a release date shadowdropped on Twitter some random day), but it could only be one at SGF. Whatever game is slated for September instead of November between Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby -not October because TPC already took that spot- has the highest chance of being at SGF.
Donkey Kong Bananza could have its own dedicated Direct sure, but a general Direct in July seems too early after the Switch 2 launch, IMO. Nintendo is better off jumping ahead to its usual September Direct at this point.

Nintendo will double up games in a month sometimes and then skip the following month. They actually did this in October of 2017, where they released Fire Emblem Warriors in the west on the 20th and then squeezed Mario Odyssey into Oct 27th instead of waiting for November. I kind of suspect they would do the same thing with Metroid Prime 4 in order to get it out in time for Halloween, give it the longest possible pre-holiday sales period, and because there's probably not going to be a huge audience overlap with Pokemon. But who knows.

but a general Direct in July seems too early after the Switch 2 launch, IMO.

It's hard to say. It definitely wouldn't be the same potential logistical shitshow as trying to do it immediately after launch, but they might be worried about dampening enthusiasm for DKB by announcing a bigger title. Like, you don't want people saying, "Oh, Game X is coming out next spring. It'll probably be easier to just wait and pick up the console then. I kind of wanted to play Donkey Kong, but it can wait." But if they have confidence in the game, they might not care.
