He was spot-on with Nintendo. Sony though, er, not so much. Sony has a much better 1st party record than MS. I understand that it's part of his job to rag on the competition, but at least pick an argument that has ground to stand on. He should have cut more into their lackluster online program.

I dunno, maybe MS has some really huge killer aps in development... but their record doesn't lead me to believe it'll be all that great, plus their record of letting go good games like Stranger and Phantom Dust makes me even more skeptical that they can competently recognize what's good and what's not.

Both criticisms were exagerrated truths really. I'd agree though that SCEI 1st party blows MGS away, and I think Sony's got a vastly underrated 1st party... but they still don't stand up to Sega, SNK or Nintendo historically.

Looks like huzkee didn't program his new Nintendo DamageControlbot Autoposter properly and its to post random quotes at the mere mention of the "N" word.

"Ken Lobb: Okay so Nintendo's strengths"

Huzkee: "Xbox is unprofitable. Ken Lobb is retarded. J Allard once sold poisoned milk to schoolchildren. Steve Balmer ate my dog."

When did I say that? I merely stated that whoever believes that anything that comes out of Lobb's mouth is non-biased commentary on the industry is either missinformed or extremely naive. As people have said his job is to rag on competitors. In so much as to brush off products on competing platforms. What else can you call the RE4 comment?

It's not his job to rag on competitors (he's a studio manager, not a PR guy); in fact, he openly praises Metroid, Ratchet & Clank, and Katamari Damacy. When's the last time someone from Nintendo gave props to games on another platform?

Redbeard: cataloged under extremely naive.

Yes Miyamoto commented positively on Mikami's RE series as well as Kojima's MSG series well before ports and games were considered for Nintendo consoles.

Miyamoto has done it on a number of occasians. Remember, Lobb's use to work for Nintendo; it isn't as if the guy suddenly changed his personality since working for MS.

:lol

You had to MAKE SHIT UP to prove what a biased ass you claim him to be.

If his job is to rag on competitors I guess it's also Miyamoto's, Iwata's, and every other person who works for Nintendo/Sony.

Ken Lobb's statement about Nintendo was right on target. It was like he was thinking about it all those years at Nintendo. The biggest problem Nintendo faces is it's own IP because people buy systems for it. It's difficult to say that about Sony (who saw Crash Bandicoot as expendible) and Microsoft (beyond Halo). Ken was wrong about Sony IMO. Their titles aren't as popular as Halo, but they slip under the radar and are usually good quality and unique (War of the Monsters, Rise of Kri, Ico...). Ken needs to play some RE4, because good gaming doesn't have to be online.

Last time they talked about Eye Toy.

Ken Lobb is trying to sound objective to persuade you "objectively" why MS is DA BEST. Don't try to defend him as the gaming industry's Gandhi cos he's not. Especially his Sony comments were totally stupid. I wonder what MS's gonna do when the Halo brand eventually deflates in the US (since it's the only place where it's that hyped) and they realize that unlike Sony they don't have a second mega-million-seller.

So basically it comes down to one of two things:

He desperately wants to play RE4, but refuses to allow himself to out of devotion to MS, and makes up the excuse that he'd rather play games online.

Or he already has played it, and it's his favorite game ever, but he has to lie because it's his job to rag on the GameCube.

:lol

And the fact that he praises games on competitor's platforms should put him in good company if Miyamoto also does, but in Lobb's case I guess that's just another tactic to present a facade of objectivity.

The difference between Ken Lobb and Miyamoto is that Miyamoto didn't use a couple of thousand "buts", and didn't make a list of all Sony's problems and disadvantages after he praised Eye Toy. Get it?

Specific games? Probably either Samba de Amigo (Miyamoto) or Dragon Quest VII (Yamauchi).

Man, when are people going to get over PR statements. Just like Reggie or Kaz, Ken is being paid to make his company look better. His speech on RE4 was basically a setup to suggest that MS emphasis on online is the right approach. His comments about 1st party production where also designed to make the Xbox look better, when in reality MS hasn't been particularily strong in that area either.

You need to take a break from following game news if you're offending by what he is saying.

Miyamoto has definately praised a lot of stuff. Besides Sambo, he's mentioned that he would've like to have worked on Biohazard and has praised the core gameplay of GTA. He isn't stuck in a perpetual vacuum as some may suggest.

No no, it's actually because he sincerelly wanted to confess how much he likes Sony,Nintendo and their games. You're sooooooooooo suspicious.
