Three-year-old Sophia Parlock cries while seated on the shoulders of her father, Phil Parlock, after having their Bush-Cheney sign torn up by Kerry-Edwards supporters on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va. Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) made a brief stop at the airport as he concluded his two-day bus tour to locations in West Virginia and Ohio. It seems like every story of a Kerry supporter at a Bush rally ends with the person being arrested/ escorted out. Had she been pro-Kerry at a Bush thing, the li'l terrorist would have been dragged away by the hair or something.

I think whoever did that is a complete jackass. I also think bringing your 3 year old to a political event (even if it's just Edwards arriving by plane, you know it's gonna be mainly the "opposition" there) is retarded. To sum up, the person who ripped the sign is fucking stupid, and the father is a moron for dragging his daughter to such a place.

Wow, that father is a fucking asshole, using his 3 year old daughter as some kind of way to get attention and mug for the cameras. If that wasn't his intention, then he's just retarded as hell.

You know, the more I think of it, it's strange, taking your daughter to a democratic event with a Bush/Cheney sign. What we just witnessed was a Republican sincerely asking for an abortion.

The guys is a dick, like, as if you'd stand in the Lakers fan section with your 3 year old while wearing a Knicks jersey.

Or something equally inflammatory.

More so preferably.

No matter what age the girl is a person does not have the right to destroy someone's property.

Oh wait, did the person have a Bush sign at a Kerry event?

Well then, it's perfectly legit.

My bad, you guys need to keep me updated on these rules of yours.

It's funny because it's true!

Jesus Christ, every person who supports either candidate isn't going to be a saint; you guys act like this is news.

THIS JUST IN! KERRY SUPPORTER NOT THE NEXT MOTHER TERESA! OMG WTF!!??!!

How is this news? OMFG A LITTLE GIRL CRIED TODAY! SHE CAN'T POSSIBLY COMPREHEND THE MEANING OF THE SIGN HER FATHER WAS HOLDING BUT SHE CRIED! TEARS (lacerations) AND SHIT! ALL DOWN HER FACE LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE! GERALDO WAS THERE I THINK.

Edit: Whoa, shit. What's with the 9 year old ready to knock some fuckin' lights out on the right?

GOOD!

He went there for no other reason than to stir up shit and he and his little girl got owned. I feel bad for the girl. Not because her sign was torn up, but because her father is such an ass. What a spineless coward.... having his little girl hold up the sign and basically using her to shield himself from the crowd. Pathetic.

I propose a new law that would make it legal to beat the shit out of any person who attends a rally for a political figure they don't support.

Anyone with me? Let's start a massive letter writing campaign to congress immediately.

My statement had absolutely nothing to do with politics. Its common freaking sense! You can't go around stirring up shit with people and not expect this kind of thing (or much worse) to happen. The guy obviously knew this, which is why he brought the kid (and hence why he is a coward). I'm sorry but he brought this on himself and his little girl.

Ah yes, he expected some asshole to steal his daughters sign and rip it up.

This is the same argument of "the woman deserved to get raped because she was wearing a low cut shirt around a bunch of men."

Why don't you trying placing blame on the people who deserve it?

Maybe he just brought the wrong the sign without realizing it. It wouldn't make any sense to bring a Bush/Cheney sign if Edwards is just getting off a plane. Is he protesting Democrats travelling by air? I'm sure he just likes to support people and brought the wrong sign!

Maybe the guy who tore it up didn't see the fine print. The sign actually said 'BUSH/ CHENEY are not very nice people at all, and I do not support them in anyway whatsoever.

You know, I'd rather have my sign torn up rather than be dragged out of the event and possibly jailed as has happened to so many protesters in the last few weeks who have attended Bush rallys.

I wonder where Cooter was when protesters at the RNC were jailed, abused, and, on the very floor of the convention itself, kicked repeatedly while already down.

What about that women who's hair was being pulled by an adult man because she was pro-Kerry at a Bush rally?

Cooter, I know you have deep wells of sympathy and understanding for your fellow man and you just forgot to defend these people, right? Or are people who agree with you the only ones that deserve your OUTRAGED defense?

+1 double standard

Um... yeah! He should have expected that a perhaps a lot worse. I guess you wouldn't place any blame on someone who got the shit kicked out of them as the result of their walking around Harlem carrying a sign with a racial slur on it either. Afterall, its not his fault that the local residents were offended and decided to take it out on him right? The residents are totally to blame!!! :rolleyes

This is the same argument of "the woman deserved to get raped because she was wearing a low cut shirt and around a bunch of men."

Its not even close to being the same. Maybe if the woman walked around with a sign that blatantly read "RAPE ME!!" you'd have a point.

Abused? Tone it down a bit Fred.

This really isn't a political issue. No one has the right to assualt or damage anyone's property for simply being at a certain event.

The hair pulling was wrong.

However, if certain "protesters" are causing trouble then they deserve to be punished

No. Come to my city and watch what I watched during the convention and then come and talk to me about it. Just because Fox News didn't cover it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Cooter said:

Right. Being on the wrong block at the wrong time is causing the sort of trouble that begs police brutality, wrongful arrest and holding someone for 30+ hours on no charges.

Anyway, back to that poor little girl.

This is great. A Bush/Cheney sign is now equal to a racial slur. This entire paragraph is complete horse shit.

Do you even read what you type?

The girl didn't have a sign that said tear me up. She simply had a sign supporting the President.

I'm done with this mindless debate.

Feel free to continue practicing this twisted logic but don't expect to find many people outside of GA who agree with you.

Later.

It's not that it is right or wrong. It's that it is REALITY.

Like wearing a A-Rod jersey at Fenway Park. Don't do it if you don't want trouble.
