Kevin Durant won’t visit White House

This is what happens when you have too much free time in the off season imo, seeing the president was an automatic sign of gratitude until people like KD "digest" and think about it all. Shake the damn presidents hand dude 🤚

One millionaire doesn't respect another millionaire, figures. Ok KD you only just went to the richest ball club...
I don't know when you guys joke anymore or not.

If I was offered to go see the White House with the current administration I'd decline as well, even if it was going to be my first time.

This must have Trump seething. Anyone invited to the White House needs to reject the offer until that mound of orange shit is removed, in cuffs or otherwise.

It'd be one thing to make that point if it was Bush Sr., Clinton, or Obama as President. With Trump, a vile, thin skinned, traitorous, ignorant, evil man in the office it should not just be a status quo opportunity to accept a sign of gratitude. Trump doesn't need to be treated pleasantly or given PR wins when he has done such a disservice to the US and the world.

I'd only go to the White House to take a shit on Trump's desk.

I'd ask prior to the visit if we get to go into the Oval Office, and if not, then I would decline.

It would be more of a pleasure to meet almost every other person in this country before Trump.

this is the worst part about the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup for me. DON'T GO SID!

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they just don't invite teams. They are incompetent and will probably forget.

Nah. Plenty of NBA owners are cozy with comrade cheeto and would love to visit the WH for some public a2m. Dan Gilbert, James Dolan, and Betsy Devos' family owns the Orlando Magic.

The owners would love to go, but the players would still decline. The Patriots are probably the most "Trump friendly" team in major American sports, and that still ended up being a disaster for Trump. And that was before all the shit Trump pulled this year.

Are you serious? Trump isn't sympathising with Nazi's when he clearly said both sides are to be blamed. On taking down confederate statues: "should we take down Thomas Jefferson and George Washington statues? Both known to have slaves? Where does it stop..."

All I'm saying is it's going to look weird with missing pieces from the championship team absent imho

I suspect none of the team will be there. Rational people are abandoning even the appearance of supporting or normalizing Trump, hence he shut down what remained of his industry and business councils.

Trump has been a disaster since day 1 with his tweets, attacks on the media, attacks on allies, offhand comments about military options in Venezuela, North Korea, etc... It's not just his response to Charlottesville, which was also horrible, but every single day he's been in office the US has lost its reputation around the world. Look at the thread about how the Germans see us. The Germans are a major ally, but now they don't trust us at all, and can you really blame them when Trump goes out of his way to shit on the EU at every step?

He spread lies about how the counter-protesters didn't have permits. They did.

Were those statues erected in response to Jim Crow laws and the civil rights movement for the purpose of racism and intimidating black people?

Mitigating when the Nazis literally killed someone and then saying "not all the people at a nazi rally are bad" is ridiculous and obviously sympathetic towards their cause. David Duke and the Daily Stormer have said as much.

The statue false equivalency is also absurd.

He's a white supremicist. He's put people with direct ties to racist and anti-semitic hate groups in policy making positions. He said both sides are to be blamed to distract from a one sided neo-Nazi terror attack and beatings. He received amazing praise for all this from the KKK and Nazis for a reason. Maybe you should put down the pipe and use what brain cells you've got left and try to actually comprehend what's going on around you.

It looks pretty weird having a fascist in the White House.

Looks pretty weird seeing people "both sides are to be blamed" in a dispute between literal fucking Nazis and people who are opposed to literal fucking Nazis.

Last time we had to deal with overt, organized Nazis we dropped firebombs on their cities until they gave up and ran into their rat holes.

And who gives a fuck about statues? Tear 'em all down if that's what it takes to get people to let go of a racist past where the right to own other people as property was something so integral to cultural identity as to commit overt treason in attempting to secede.

Nobody will go.

Not Curry, not Draymond, not Klay, not Kerr.

Even his best buddy Tom wouldn't go.

Everybody knows by now, you steer clear from the Nazi sympathiser in chief.

Good I hope no other team goes

Just a reminder that Trump already invited the Cleveland owner to the WH.

To be fair, even Cleveland fans hate Gilbert at this point (especially now that his response to a 4-1 Finals drubbing was to fire the GM whose moves won the team a championship approximately five seconds before free agency started)

Are you serious? It "looks weird" having a narcissistic overtly-racist sociopath in the Oval Office but that sure as fuck isn't stopping you from stanning for him refusing to unequivocally condemn Nazis

President Trump is a racist PoS, as a black man i never want to shake his fucking hand or meet him...

There are only a few owners that would accept an invite to the WH: Gilbert, DeVos, Clay Bennett, Walton/Kroenke, and Tom Benson.

Out of that group only Gilbert and Bennett have the chance to go. If they do visit the organizational blowback will be substantial, especially for Gilbert.

Trump will just say he's decided not to invite them to save face.
Yup. Then it just becomes a non-event that gets no publicity. It would have been better if he invited the team and then nobody from the team showed up, or just the Trump supporters. Then all the media would be there reporting it.

In any case, good for them. This clown needs to be snubbed by everybody. Athletes, celebrities, foreign dignitaries. The world needs to make a statement. And make that statement as publicly as possible.

I'd imagine Trump is quietly going to stop inviting championship teams to the white house.

Starting with the warriors.
Nah, if the Pats win a Super Bowl he'll declare a national holiday.

It'll be right after National Nazi Celebration Week probably.

They should have agreed to show up, lined up behind him like they normally do, then as soon as he started to speak start chanting "BLACK LIVES MATTER". But this is fine too.
