Samsung makes great cell hardware but imo their UI is awkward and primitive compared to the big players.

Here's my new SE S700i I just picked up after selling my SE K700i:

Bluetooth, fm radio, mp3 playback, Sony duo memory stick support, 1.3mp camera with manual white balance, ev shift etc, and a terrific 262k, 320 x 240 colour screen.

Some smaps I took of it

Does that mean you don't like it? :D

No I do like it, just that they've been making some of the better (cheap) phones for a while. This one doesn't fit their cheap phone mold (based on developer pricing - not actually available yet so the prices may decrease). The other company making GREAT phones is Sony Ericsson. Everyone else is kinda all over the place.

For close to $100, this phone is looking great and it comes with blue tooth capabilities.

My only gripe I have with it is that it doesn't allow for MP3 ring-tones.

Does anyone know of any similar phones that allow for such a thing? I don't want to spend more than $100, and the Sony Ericsson is so beautiful, I hate flip-phones.

Badabing, sounds like you need the K700 - I went from the T630 to the K700 and it was such a good move. Proper VGA camera, 41 meg of memory, MP3, FM radio etc - you need to upgrade dude. :)

Luckily I don't even own the T630 to begin with, but that K700 sucker is like $450! I just can't spend that kind of money on a celly. :(

Hell I don't even use my cell phone camera since I already own a digital camera... I just need something with blue-tooth, mp3 ringtones, and a good amount of battery life.

The D500 UI has been totally reworked and is amazing.

D500 has all that minus the fm radio. No memory expansion but 92 megs is enough.
The size is just perfect. And Black is just sexy now when every other phone is silver.

The SE S700 is big and clunky for every day use, so I jumped onto the D500 bandwagon.
Also the SE S700 won't play full screen video, which is annoying to say the least.

Can S700 RECORD MPG4 Video ?

:D

And zenny, I'll be sure to check out their new UI when I get my hands on that D500, but it was shocking on my E700, it was the only reason I sold that phone - the hardware was great though.

I wouldn't call the S700 big or clunky though, and yes it records video with sound too, but not as well as some of the other phones I've owned; I don't use that feature anyway, my main need for this phone was the camera and memory.:)

I would have brought the S700i but its quite clumsy to use and its chunky. The camera is the best though.

Yeah it's got roughly the same dimensions as the K700i but it is a bit of a fatboy coz of all the extra features. It's definitely not clumsy to use though, I can access everything I need without ever hardly even opening the swivel.

It definitely wouldnt be the best phone to go jogging or do manual labour with though as its got some additional weight on it because of the metal housing and all the internals - I've still got a K700 for when I need something really small and light.

I just bought the razr about a week agao. And I gotta say, I freakin love it! This is the first phone I have owned that doesn't feel like a toy, when you hold it or use it it just feels like it's on a whole other level. Great great phone. ANd the pimp factor is absolutely unbeatable. I get at least 3-4 compliments on it every day.

That phone could be seriously be mistaken for a Sony Cybershot camera when using/holding it in camera mode. It's a great phone... Cingular will be getting the black version this month. However, if Cingular screws up the paintjob, its back to importing the sleek silver one.

Forgot about that one. That's a good phone from TMobile actually. Its a pretty small phone as well. Its not absurdly expensive either. For the price you want to pay its certainly a winner.

On Tmobile's website it says $299 with a $100 mail-in rebate. I've been with Tmobile since they were Powertel so I'm going to see if I can get some good customer rentention action to get it alittle cheaper. ;)

*off to check out some reviews on the A630*
