I made a $20 pledge, then cancelled it the next day. Not sure if this one will make it - the rewards aren't all that great, and I hate the fact that they've locked offf "exclusive" content behind a high paywall.
Oh, I doubt it's going to make it. I posted in the thread about the KS that the campaign is like a checklist of how not to get funded. It barely gives any info about the game, focusing almost entirely on their Kinect emotions system and the story, in a rambling fashion, rather than focusing on the gameplay, lore, environment, and other core mechanics.
The little gameplay they do show is at a horrible framerate and not presented as you would expect for the first major showcase of gameplay would be.
There's no info on the devs or what the funds will be used for. Combine all that with the high goal, and you got a visually wonderful project with an interest concept that anyone who has experience with Kickstarter would be wary to back.

Not a hope that it's going to make it.

Starfighter Inc. will fail... :/

Shame - hoped there might have been a large surge near the end of the KS but it's not even had a decent one.

Yeah.

It was bad, but then went to Crazy Pants Town when they started talking about how they would make it so the video game character would "really see" the player.

It's a shame, because I like the concept/story, but they're just not doing it any favours.

Poi - July
Poi is an indie 3D adventure platformer inspired by classics like Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Super Mario Sunshine. It follows the journey of a rambunctious kid on an adventure to become a master explorer. Players will run, jump, flip, and collect treasure across many exciting locales to gain explorer medallions. From larger exploration based levels to small intense platforming challenges--we think Poi has a little bit of everything that gamers love about 3D platformers.

Portalnauts could really use a boost. It's a 2D platformer, yes, but it plays pretty tightly, and the character switching mechanic is good. The developer has been very receptive of feedback, which I appreciate. There's a lengthy demo available on the page; I recorded a video where I played through it, if you're curious:

I follow the guy's work quite a bit, it's a shame the campaign isn't hitting such a meager total.

Bulk of his campaign was during the pre-week hype and main E3 week. That's one way to ensure your Kickstarter won't succeed

So after the Shenmue III announcement I wanna keep an even closer eyes to projects on Kickstarter. I added it as a bookmark on my phone but isn't there an easy way to add project to a list, so I don't forget about them?

I have added some to my Starred List but games like Bloodstained don't let me add it to this list.

Any ways to keep track of all of these projects besides a Word document?

If you star a project, it'll stay in your Starred list even after the campaign is finished

Now for already finished campaigns, it's a bit weird. For example, go back to Bloodstain and go the campaign page. If you watch next to "Share this project", you'll see a star pop up briefly. For some reason, the star disappears but if you're fast enough, you can click it and it'll be added to your Starred page.

Oh wow, thanks for this! You don't even have to be quick, you just have to scroll until the star pops up.

Any other games worth looking into right now, other than Bloodstained, Shenmue 3, We Happy Few, Perception, Luckless Seven and The Bard's Tale IV?

What are the rules for a kickstarter in this situation:

Some Half-Life fans unconnected with Valve launch a HL3 kickstarter pledgding the money will be given to Valve when the fund reaches 10m dollars and on condition that then Valve make the game (or if Valve decline the money is returned to those that gave the pledge) ?

You could have a look at the OP there's links to the ongoing and completed kickstarters.

I never even thought about registering with the kickstarter sites until you mentioned it :) Cheers for that - I was leaving a tab open to remind me to check on some of them..........

I've been going through baddie's links and liking/following a few I'm interested in.

What kind of games are you into - there might be some of the lesser known ones that i've already followed I could suggest.

YMMV, but I think Shape of the World and Song of Horror look very promising

For The King - Summer

When is thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis.

Also: Resurgence is a steampunk cRPG dropping soon. It all sounds great but I'd need to actually, you know, see it.

... are you seriously thinking of doing this? There's.... quite a bit about this that is.... wonky.

1) Nothing against getting funding for future development, but I mean... what would the reward tiers be?
2) Ten million dollars is absolutely nothing. Would that be the full amount or would Valve pony up more?
3) Why would Valve agree to this?

There's an easier way. Just add "/watch" to the end of the project url that you want to be starred.

Rock Rock Rocket could use a nudge, it's just $164 $88 shy of hitting its goal, with 6 hours to go.

It's a sprite-based FPS for iOS with some nice artwork. I'm familiar with the toolset he's using to make it, and so I'm doubly impressed by how smooth he's made it work, when it's not even directly designed for this kind of thing.

Edit: Made it! The last hour is gravy.

Hahahah why? What the hell?

The fan translation already happened and the TL work on the game is long since done. This is YEARS late to the party.

They're just using Ixrec's translation. They're not even going to be translating the game again (not that it needs to).

so a kickstarter for infinite licensing fees?

We’ve just launched our Kickstarter campaign for RENOIR, noir-themed puzzle-platformer for PC / consoles. Please help us breathe life into our game — even if you can’t back us with money, just mentioning RENOIR to your friends or making our whisper a shout through your social networks… all this is, quite literally, a world of help to us.

For more info (and first RENOIR gameplay video ever) go straight to our KS page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/731043103/renoir

I implore even those that may be unfamiliar with the series to make a pledge to Shenmue III. 17 days to go we need as much support by the larger community as possible.

Not familiar with the games? Watch this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf-MK4599A8

hmm, not sure, they set kickstarter goal at 2 million, but say they really need 10 million. Never played Shenmue or really heard anything about it, but that alone makes me not want to pledge money.

I think that quote has been taken out of context. Putting stretch goals is typical for most KS campaigns but I truly believe Suzuki will make a sequel worthy of the series.

For any newcomers looking to pledge I would ask them to consider following campaign tomorrow:

I can't wait for GRIP!!! I've been contacting the dev and they're very friendly. The game looks amazing and so close to what made Rollcage really cool. Can't believe how good that teeaser looks!

Thanks a lot for the post, I'm one of the artist involved in the project, sadly it doesn't seems like we will make it, but it's been a very amazing experience anyway.
The launch of the kickstarter was plagues by several mega announcements pre and during E3 and we did not manage to have any coverage.
Always tough to launch a KS before and during E3. Twin Souls suffered similarly last year despite a lot of praise and hype. Do you plan to continue development or launch a second campaign?

Really like the look of your game too - hope you either get a second funding chance or find a way to continue with the project.
