Pai Mai was good, and funny...
..but it felt incomplete. Over-rated.

I'd say that Volume 1 is at least 7 times better then volume 2!!!11
Style vs. Substance? Maybe.
But who said I wanted substance?

Ok, I'll give you that at least some of Vol. 2 was a Spaghetti Western homage, and the music in both films follows that theme, but you can't deny the training sequences and the Pai Mei character are straight from Chinese/Hong Kong/Kung Fu films. There were actually more scenes shot in China as well that I'd hope to see on a Special Edition version. Also, QT himself at one point said that Vol. 1 was Japanese influenced and Vol. 2 was Chinese centric. That changed to a certain extent in post-production and editing, but you can still see the themes and influences there. So maybe you should get some of your movie facts right as well.
Oh yeah, let's analyse a movie's inspirations from the scenes that were edited OUT OF IT, and from the comments the director made about it BEFORE THE MOVIE WAS EDITED. the Pai Mei sequence is what? 20-30 minutes out of 2 hours? The movie is way more influenced by Spaghetti Westerns than by anything else, as far as I know, and I'm saying this based on what I SAW, not what I COULD HAVE SEEN.

Look, I already admitted that there was an influence of Spaghetti Westerns in the films. But it's hard to deny the Chinese/Kung Fu movie influences as well, especially if you look at both films. But yeah, I guess you're right, I remember Clint using a sword to kill off all of his foes in in Man With No Name movies, not to mention the fact that he used secret kung fu techniques to finish off the boss at the end.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the fact that she used that 5 point exploding heart technique, I just wished she would have been cornered or in some real peril first. The fact that Pai Mei taught her the move and not Bill really says a lot for her overall charater.

Yeah, I agree. I mean, check back to where Elle had The Bride at her mercy with the needle on the bed. Bill's just sitting there with the sword. I mean, everything point to some sword fight taking place. And the fact that O-ren/Bride was so brutal, even, and satisfying at the end of KB vol I, I wanted something similar. I enjoyed the hell out of what they gave me but wanted a little bit more.
