Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

Humiliations wouldn't be so bad, though. Even MK has mostly dropped it's comedy side, so including it here might actually be different.

You know, i'd ratter have Humilliations than Fatalities, they're so bad, they suck but i can't get enough of them.

Just for shit and giggles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2aEimnEY2M

I'm really hoping for Fulgore (love his Twitter btw) www.twitter.com/fulgore_KI . He's my favorite character, although I've always sucked at playing as him. Spinal was my best to fight as. So either of them to be shown would be great!

WHAT THE FUCK...... Ok, suscribed xD. Fulgore is/was my main in KI. I just hope in this new KI he plays like that one, hate what they did (gameplay wise) to him in KI2

I'm praying for B. Orchid.

I'm praying for orchid tits.

Ah, now I know what the game will look like when I am playing, not nearly as exciting without the big combos, heh.

I'm glad to see this. After watching all the E3 videos with people pulling ultras left and right, I was starting to think combos were going to be too easy to pull off and become boring fast. Seeing these regular guys play drives home the fact the fact that I was watching pros and people who designed the game playing it during E3.

Although...Sabrewolf is starting to look really cheap. KI's Eddy Gordo...

wat? they are awesome!

Spinal was so unplayed and disliked in KI (arcade statistics proved he was the least used character) that Rare was offended, and tried everything they could do to tune up his gameplay, and changed all his move motions to simple quarter circles, and it still didn't help. Just a boring character to me.

I got the chance to play this last week for about two hours. It was absolutely amazing. The combat was extremely fast paced and fluid. The graphics were a wonderful sight to behold.

I did not want to go home while I was playing it, but I was starving.

That guy was amazing in KI2 though.

No Mercy removal sounds like ass though. Evo would erupt the moment someone failed to do it and lost because of it.

Chief thunder was cool too! I don't see why they can't include all the characters from both games and a few new ones. That's about 20-25 characters

Only because of the timeframe to game's release. I'm halfway thinking they might have an eight character roster at the start, and keep adding more and more as time goes on. Would make sense with the 'season' thing they mentioned.

Also, I think development for the game began in late 2012(guessing) and MS required it to be a launch title. Very little time to get much done, videogames indeed.

Dang that is bs. Still I think it's better to get a solid foundation of 8 and go from there rather than start with 25 and the game is a broken mess.

If they can't deliver 20-25 then at least pack in KI 1 and 2 for the special edition!

I also wish MS had just formed a new studio name with the guys making the game. It seems like they're already getting a bum rap because of some movie licensed games made years ago

Probably my most anticipated game at launch for either console, so not hating...but if what they have shown was put together in 4-6 weeks, why wouldn't they have started development a while ago? 8 characters at launch would be a bit disappointing. Done on purpose to sell the "season pass" deal? Would see that limited of a roster potentially hurting sales.

Whenever. I just think a game, any game ever, should be judged on its own merits, not the success or failure of past games... ESPECIALLY in different genres

I feel the same way. It's funny, because I remember Sly 4 being praised even though it was handled by Sanzaru Games, who also did a few no name titles before being handed.the Sly license.

Really excited to see more from Killer Instinct.

What does that even mean? Considering you can pay for the specific amount of characters you want or not pay anything at all, they are going out of their way to give you a good deal.

The point of the season pass is that they're saying, hey we're going to keep making characters, and stages, and add features that fans want, and if you sign up for the season pass then you will get all of it for free. If you don't like that then you can pay $10-$20-$30 for the characters you do want to play as.

I guess I am not completely up to date on all the different purchasing options that will be offered. Wasn't there talk about just paying a chunk up front for the entire game, the free demo, and then the season pass thing?

Regardless, if they are rushed to the point of only being able to offer 8 characters, makes me worry that they won't have time to really polish the game, which would suck going by all the positive impressions so far.

edit:

bolded, or like make sure you have time to get the vast majority of both game's characters into the game at launch, like most fans would want...

What does it mean? Uhh, number of hands of people pumped there could only be 8 characters at launch.

Yeah, there's definitely blood. It's more noticeable when you're playing the game. I'm hoping they find a good balance between that and the particle effects though. As it stands, too much particle, too little blood. But that may be necessary if their intentions is to keep the game T-rated.
Too many particle effects is still not enough particle effects.

Have any of the big turny players gave their impressions of the game yet? I know Floe, Justin Wong, Sabin, and many more were playing it at E3.

I wish they kept the more realistic look of the original instead of making it more cartoony,
KI looks like 90s CG, because that's exactly what it was. They sort of looked like plastic action figures because of the simple textures and the exaggerated specular lighting. If you take that, increase the detail and lose the shiny this is pretty much what you get.

I think it all depends on pricepoint and what they promise out the gate. 8 Characters with more coming Bi-weekly / each month wouldn't be bad at all. Especially depending on the quality of the characters; let this speak for the game MUCH more, rather than some arbitrary headcount.

Skullgirls did fine with this number, and Blazblue did fine with not much more. If this game is solidly committed to growing steadily with updates and new content, then I see no problem with it in the slightest.

New Gen = new way for things to be done. A fighter that grows consistently for the next year or so, sounds great. A new fighter developer who gets to hit the ground running, and evolve the game with community feedback from the earliest point possible! We could see the game evolve and grow much faster, rather than having to wait a years time to see changes that the community has been clamoring for since day 1.

Rather than working on an idea that might not be what WE want for over 2 years, releasing to the public, and then having to work their way out of solidly established concepts.

The point of the season pass is that they're saying, hey we're going to keep making characters, and stages, and add features that fans want, and if you sign up for the season pass then you will get all of it for free. I always hate the idea that a season pass = money gouging. In the right hands, I think it's effectively the same thing as a kickstarter: developer gets money up front, to be able to funnel back into improved development of their product. Due to this early show of trust, they offer a higher value product to the buyer, at a reduced cost.

All I hope for is a REAL SEASON pass (as in "all things released in this season, you will receive for this one price!") rather than something like Injustice ("Character pass... with no way to pay for the other content at a reduced rate!"). Such a thing just presents itself as a greater value for the consumer.

Regardless, if they are rushed to the point of only being able to offer 8 characters, makes me worry that they won't have time to really polish the game, which would suck going by all the positive impressions so far.

Why would releasing 8 characters inherently be "rushed"? The only thing that should imply a rush is receiving a game with poorly balanced / unfinished characters, stages, gameplay, etc.

I'm much more concerned about Character Quality than Quality, personally. They've mentioned wanting to actual make the KI roster into a more legit FG roster (with actual Grapplers and Zoning characters, rather than the old "EVERYONE WAS RUSHDOWN!" way of the past), and I'm much more interested in seeing how this works out, rather than "Hey, did you get 3 characters that largely play the same way in there? Alright! I look forward to playing the same character VS re-skin of same character!"

Lastly, another bonus of lower character count could also be an expanded focus on making each character feel worth it.

Beyond gameplay, a lower character count could also mean:
  • better Arcade / Story mode content,
  • a wider selection of fully-fleshed out Alts (so actual new character models with unique physics, animation, and props, rather than just palette swaps and small changes),
  • better Single player / unique content per characters (more cinematics, higher quality endings, more taunts, better online ID images, etc),

If they release with a small roster, I hope they do all they can to make what's there the best it can be. If a larger one, I hope the characters all end up even more unique and varied than what we've seen of 'Wulf and Jago! Either side could have it's ups and downs; the situation isn't just black-and-white.

Haven't played a fighting game since DOA4 (which I was addicted to for several weeks) so I'm hoping KI3 is good enough to get me back into the genre.

I don't think the new one will have fatalities though

I hope they do.

And I certainly hope they have more than eight characters at launch. I know that the game will probably be adding characters regularly, but that seems pretty low. I'd say 12 characters at launch would look appetizing to consumers to buy the full version. However, Microsoft might not be interested in how many "full" copies of the game they end up selling, but rather the attachment rate and number of microtransactions.
