I like the idea of a f2p fighting game as long as its primary focus is on multiplayer. The second you try to go the Mortal Kombat or Tekken route with singleplayer where the fun in it is playing all the characters and seeing the insane story stuff I kind of want all of it. But in multiplayer I only end up playing a few characters. Would be cool if when you go to browse a new character it puts you in the practice mode where you can demo that character to see how they are.

It's years too late for this. I fucking loved the original, but it just doesn't hold up like the other great fighters of that era; the limited amount of success that this game has will be fueled purely by nostalgia. Hell, it'll probably bomb considering it's been so long — a large percentage of potential XBO owners probably never even played the original at this point.

Especially given the fact it is developed by a team with zero experience with fighting games, and half their background consisting of lackluster movie licenses

Well it looks like for the first time since the original Xbox, there is a Microsoft exclusive that I am actually interested in.
Too bad I'd rather pull off my own finger nails than buy an xBox One... Oh well.

Looks really cool, but this isn't enough to sell me on the XBone. I loved KI back in the day when I played in arcades and on the SNES but nostalgia isn't selling me.

This can't be said enough.

Stop and think, since when have you ever heard anybody from Double Helix being involved in the fighting game scene? Even their blogging about this new Killer Instinct fails to mention anything about fighting game pedigree.

Can anybody see this being one of the games at an EVO tournament?

From Team Spooky's twitter:

Early Killer Instinct info: Jago and Sabrewolf in current build. Auto doubles and manual doubles are both in for combo extensions.

Manual doubles are Character specific, also specials to extend ultras and a new character specific mode (think xfactor but less broken) that gives each character new properties.

Combo breakers are balanced in a new way manual doubles are harder to break and a failed breaker locks you out for a short a period of time. More info soon

I dont get it...

this game is exclusive to the console that requires an online connection every 24 hours...

and the game is intended for a community that's spent the last how many years thriving on offline play?!?!

When I got back from work and heard about this within a one minute time-span I went from being excited to not giving a shit once I realized who was behind it.

Man, I really cannot get into this game.

The animation looks awful, the graphics look...okay at best, and the developer behind it inspires no confidence at all.

Plus, did people REALLY ask for a new killer instinct? I've seen it thrown around for the last month or so but before that I feel like I've never seen anyone actually ask for it. Killer Instinct was never a great game in my mind.

I don't know what I was expecting for the trailer
but I was watching it and going...yep...that's Killer Instinct alright.

Killer Instinct is possibly the most broken fighter of all time. Up there with Jackie Chan. Too bad Ill never own an Xbox to play it.

Killer instinct feels fluid as fuck. It's really nice even in this early build

Impressions are sounding good. Hoping to see more in the next few days.

Developed by some of the team behind Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters and G.I. Joe The Rise of cobra.

You've been warned.
