This new Killer Instinct went for what's popular now art wise, instead of looking for it's own art direction. All that horsepower under the hood, just to look llike a step up from five year old SF is a missed opportunity.
...

I'm not sure what popular art-style you believe KI to be imitating...elaborate?

It looks nothing like SFIV/Marvel to me and the comparison is sort of unfair. Capcom's games use NPR/cel-shading to pretty up what would otherwise be dull, low-detail character models. Seriously, jump into a SSFIV game right now and take a look at a character up close. Especially things like hair and facial features...ugh.

From a technical standpoint, Killer Instinct is closer to Injustice and MK but it still has the flashy, over-the-top style that made the originals awesome. Also, if you compare KI with those two games, it really does look like a generational graphics leap.

Could Killer Instinct look better? Definitely, but it's a launch game from a green dev and I'm glad that they're focusing on gameplay and balance instead. You know, the things that actually matter in a fighting game... (^o^)

Just a heads up guys, I had a chance to interview the guys from Lunar Software and Mick Gordon about Routine last fall. So I will be having a phone interview / podcast with Mick next week exclusively about Killer Instinct's music and sound design.

Be on the lookout :)

Ask about his relationship with the past composer, Robin Beanland. Has he listened to Gordon's new tracks, etc?

That music...!

I really, really, really hope that DH ups the volume on the background music in the game. At Evo and E3 it seemed as though the sound effects were much louder than the music. Could've just been the event environment, but when I go back to KI1, the music is blaring and it's amazing. I want that with the new KI as well.

It'll likely be around $150 since it's the Tournament Edition 2 stick with KI artwork I believe.

I think It's probably going to be closer to $200. Consider the new R&D costs, licensing fees and it has and bunch of new LEDs wired in it. Plus launch accessories always tend to have that early adopter markup.

I will probably get one stick, I already have one SFIV stick - so sad I will not be able to use it and have some competition matches with two sticks :(

Hey guys! I wanted to share this everyone since you've all been craving some more KI music! Provided to me exclusively by Mick Gordon himself, here is a Killer Instinct Xbox One Music Suite! I hope you all enjoy it!

I checked out the rest of the site, and most of your KI One info is incorrect. Move and input names specifically... and a lot of missing info as well. Not sure how important that is to you at the moment, but you can use my pre-Evo guide for the correct move and input names.

(Note: Sabre's Eclipse input is a typo. Should be D,U.)

Does anyone know how much that fighting stick is going to retail for?

I talked to MarkMan about it at E3. He couldn't name a price obviously, but I definitely got the impression it will retail for more than the current TE sticks. It makes sense given the new console.

It does quite a bit more than the current edition TE sticks. What you've seen at E3, Evo and SDCC is a prototype without a lot of the new features.

I'd guess it won't be too difficult for a modder to take an X1 controller board and mod an existing stick with it so it's compatible with current and next-gen systems. Probably wouldn't be too hard to do the same thing with the X1 stick using one of the existing boards for dual-modding PS360.

Might cost you a bit depending on the prices of X1 controllers...

WTF I'm probably not buying this game because I suck at fighters but damn even I am getting pissed with the lack of character reveals. Come on!!!
