Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

I checked out the rest of the site, and most of your KI One info is incorrect. Move and input names specifically... and a lot of missing info as well. Not sure how important that is to you at the moment, but you can use my pre-Evo guide for the correct move and input names.

(Note: Sabre's Eclipse input is a typo. Should be D,U.)

I talked to MarkMan about it at E3. He couldn't name a price obviously, but I definitely got the impression it will retail for more than the current TE sticks. It makes sense given the new console.

It does quite a bit more than the current edition TE sticks. What you've seen at E3, Evo and SDCC is a prototype without a lot of the new features.

I'd guess it won't be too difficult for a modder to take an X1 controller board and mod an existing stick with it so it's compatible with current and next-gen systems. Probably wouldn't be too hard to do the same thing with the X1 stick using one of the existing boards for dual-modding PS360.

Might cost you a bit depending on the prices of X1 controllers...

Thanks for the information and it's very important, actually. The info that was input for the KI One section came from the character profile videos that IGN posted with the devs. Would you mind if I used the information in your guide to update it appropriately?

I loved the KI stick at E3. Can't wait to see and utilize the final product. Id hate it to be above that $150 price range, but I'll take it anyway. Definitely will be worth it.

Is there any announces for a wired pad? I'd like to update my current stick hacking one XBO pad but i don't really like wireless pads for hacking.

That music...!

I really, really, really hope that DH ups the volume on the background music in the game. At Evo and E3 it seemed as though the sound effects were much louder than the music. Could've just been the event environment, but when I go back to KI1, the music is blaring and it's amazing. I want that with the new KI as well.

Yes please. At least give us the option to do it.

16th time pressing the play button in a row.

I've said it before and I will gladly say it again: this game will be worth it for its music alone (especially because of the dynamic stage music during fights)!

Double Helix and Mick Gordon, I implore, nay beg you: please, please release an old fashioned Killer Cuts-type soundtrack cd....pretty please?

...presses play button again....

Yeah, that's why I linked it. Use whatever you need. It's info from E3 though. The Jago and Sabre sections are fine, but some of the system mechanics were changed/updated at Evo. Also, there's obviously no Glacius section.

I may update it, but waiting to see what Prima is doing with the official guide before they decide if they want the mini-guide updated.

I never played or liked Fighting Games.

I saw the gameplay of KI and the trailers ofc and I have to say that it looks cool but I am concerned because of the simple fact that it's just a game where the only thing you can do is to bash on your controller/fighting stick to beat down one guy over and over.

BUT as I said, this game made me a little interested in this genre so do you think there could be a possibility that I might enjoy this game?

My favourite genres are: RPG's, Action Adventure, FPS/TPS, Racing Games

no offense

If you're already planning to get an X1, you can download the game free and essentially do everything (including online multiplayer) with a single character (Jago). So try it out for yourself.

I think he was referring to the next-gen model shown during the EVO stage demo, not the basic TE that has been at the booths.

This one:

Even the Wii-U's TE is $159.99 and it's fairly basic compared to the X1's TE2.

I think $199.99 is a safe bet. It would put them in line with the Razer Atrox and $200 is pretty much the ceiling for a boxed fightstick. I'm not sure I'd be okay with paying more than that; especially since I'll likely be swapping in some of my existing hardware

It sounds like we'll find out at Gamescom.

I assume this is a hyperbole and having the music be good is cool but in the end a fighting game needs gameplay and balance, this should by far be the thing that counts. Their show-off at EVO was a little shaky IMO and the gameplay still needs some tweaks but I'm hopeful they'll get their act together before then. It won't be my fighting game because the gameplay and combo's are a little too seizure inducing for me but I'd like to see Double Helix redeem themselves. They've got two beloved franchises in their hands now (Strider/KI) so lots of eyes on them now.

I'm sure you'll be able to move both the sliders for the music and the sound effects when it comes out. Most games let you do that and I'd be surprised if this was any different.

Yes.

The best time to get into fighters is when a new game launches. There will be more people online that are outright awful at KI than seasoned, FGC vets. Especially when you consider that Jago is free and a lot of people will be playing free at launch.

Also, Double Helix is basically aiming KI directly at people like you. At EVO, they talked about using a tutorial/training system that actually explains deeper mechanics and how/when to use them rather than just assuming everyone counts frames and can pull of 1 frame links without plinking (Looking at you, Capcom x_x). They seem committed to lowering the "intimidation" factor that scares off new players.

The only (completely obvious) advice I'd give is that if you want to enjoy fighters long-term, you really need to approach it the right way:

- From day one, focus on not mashing. Ever. It will be super hard at first but it'll pay off in the long run. If you start mashing, it's very hard to break the habit. This is doubly true for games like KI and Marvel because it can sometimes feel like you're actually being rewarded for sloppy play.

- Don't linger in single-player modes! It can foster bad habits that won't work online. Run through Arcade Mode with a few characters and pick one you're comfortable with early. Go through the training mode/challenges with him/her, play a couple more rounds of Arcade and then proceed immediately to Multiplayer and stay there. You'll probably get worked for a while but every loss in a lesson. Practicing combos in Training is good for muscle memory but pulling them off on a blocking/countering/moving opponent is a completely different challenge.

I'd also recommend that you start with a fightstick. It's an expensive, risky gamble but it's a much more rewarding experience, IMO. I hated fighters until I made the jump.

Agreed, I noticed the music was getting drowned out a bit in the last part of Max's dynamic music vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQmkSWPhlNE

It could definitely do with being a couple of notches higher than it was there, I want to be able to hear the awesomeness of the dynamic music as I play! Big and bold, loud and proud. SSX Tricky did a great job with dynamic music too, love it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skELqmfLtrs

Is 2:28 possibly the character select music...? Daaaaaaaaaaaaaayum!

Also, not sure if this has been discussed but...

Dat Thunder maybe?

Yes, it's Thunder. It's just this pic in silhouette though:

EDIT: Also, I just now realized that Thunder and TJC had the same face model with different textures...LOL.

Fine I'll give it a try. I want to see this Riptor guy in that game :P

If I'd be a game developer I would make a openworld game where you go in a Killer Instinct similar combat style every time you encounter an enemy. The "arena" or however it's called would be the place where you are actually in the world and you could interact with the world...for example if you smash your enemy into some barrels which could lay there around would give me good feels.

Might sound abit stupid but I'd like the idea. I'm a huge openworld fan.

Yeah, but it should default to louder music so I don't have to. When it's streamed for tournaments, it's unlikely they'll adjust the settings to make the music audible. They'll leave it at default settings like most people do.

In what language is Jago's music chant?

Anyway, dang, I regret not ordering the XB1 day one.

Hopefully, MS will reopen orders.

wow that music sounds great. anyway to get an mp3?

so happy this topic went back to good info as opposed to why KI looks better than even bullshots of current gen game. what a waste of time that was it was potentially the worst supported argument ever (trying to compare this great looking game to current gen).

Well the music isn't going to suck that is for sure. That is some awesome stuff!

The character select music is such a tease. It's way too short and way too good! lol

Dear lord is that compilation amazing. I have listened, for about 80% of my childhood, to the Killer Cuts CD and I love the elements he brought back like synthesizers and the banging of metal from the original Fulgore Theme into the new Character Select Theme.

Simply godly! :D

The new music is great. Hopefully a remix of T.J. Combo's theme from the first game is in!

Speaking of which, not sure if this has been posted yet but I was checking out the Double Helix forums and somebody posted this:

Supposedly it's the new look for T.J. Combo. Feel free to take it with a grain of salt though, we all know blurry cell phone pics are less than reputable.
