Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

Fine I'll give it a try. I want to see this Riptor guy in that game :P

YES!!! You marvelous you, spread the word!

What do you think about my Riptor design suggestion from 11 pages back though (not to toot my own horn, but I liked it)?

(If you've not seen it: make Riptor a character that evolves during the match in order to be true to both his dinosaur/reptilian AND mutant qualities?

He could for instance have three different forms, one more velociraptor like, one more snake like and one more bird like, and allow the player to switch between them.

Or, and this might be even more interesting, he could start out in classic Dino form and evolve over time automatically (or because of damage taken / dished out) into a feathered dino and then a snake like mutant (to name an example) and this would force the player and his opponent to adapt to each new form.)

I assume this is a hyperbole and having the music be good is cool but in the end a fighting game needs gameplay and balance, this should by far be the thing that counts. Their show-off at EVO was a little shaky IMO and the gameplay still needs some tweaks but I'm hopeful they'll get their act together before then. It won't be my fighting game because the gameplay and combo's are a little too seizure inducing for me but I'd like to see Double Helix redeem themselves. They've got two beloved franchises in their hands now (Strider/KI) so lots of eyes on them now.

Hyperbole or not, even if it will turn into the worst fighting game ever, the music will still be worth listening to and will in that way redeem the existence of the game itself. Going by Maximilian's videos, personally I'm not too worried about the gameplay though. (So, yes you are correct of course, but let's hope for the best gameplay wise and enjoy the music anyway :-P) Edit: what do you have against Pino by the way? Heck, he could possibly be a modern cousin of Riptor('s ancestors :-P )

every time i hear jago's theme it reminds me of the matrix reloaded/revolutions soundtracks by Don Davis, note this isnt a bad thing as the OST was one of the highlights from those movies

i absolutely love the themes so far, especially the character ultra music, but im really curious about orchids new theme. as far as i can remember, everyones theme has something to do with the character, or is a great piece of music, but orchids? they were just solid 90s dance tunes! (as well as great tunes)

such a feelin', such a feeliiiin', such a feelin', killer feelin'

I had a chance to play this game at Comic-Con. I actually enjoyed it a lot, so I'll probably pick it up on day one. Here are some pics.

For such a gaudy game, I'm surprised the arcade sticks have such an uninspired design. Thanks for the pictures, though. They're helpful in more ways than one.

I just looked at the day one gold ad on the dashboard and in the fine print it says that Killer Instinct requires 4 GB. Not sure if that's the size of the full game, or just the base game with Jago. Thought it may be interesting.

That's the E3 KI stick. That's the "prototype" version and not the one they'll be releasing. The actual TE 2 KI stick features Killer Instinct artwork.

This looks to be the ultimate party game. Meaning get a few friends around, beers, pizza and just have competitions, who can beat who.

A couple new things here:

- "Killer Instinct: Round One" ...title confirmed?

- Exclusive "Shadow Jago". Probably just a character skin? The Shadow thing probably confirms a pre-boss, mirror match in arcade mode as well.

Also, could this be the full version of KI? If so, it's a pretty awesome deal.

Jesus, how long 'til Gamescom? I need some real news... :P

Not a huge fan of KI but I have to say the game is shaping up nicely, especially for a launch title.

Could redeem Double Helix from their rather poor track record.

One question, because I cannot find a proper answer, will there be a retail release alongside the digital one?

Im thinking 'Round One' might be the title for the demo or something, alluding to it being an intro to the game. At least I hope so cause that name sucks lol.

This was announced at E3 actually. From what I've been told, it's basically just the free demo of the game with a Shadow skin for Jago in addition to the default Jago skins. The deal here is that you get the Shadow skin for free.

I would guess that "Round One" is the name of the demo, but I don't have confirmation of that.

the fact that its playable shadow jago leads me to think its just the "not fucking f2p" version of the game but with a special jago skin.

also, after no new news at comic con, werent we supposed to not have to wait till gamescon for new stuff?

Round one is just the first set of character releases. Each round will add new characters. They talked about it at E3 I think it was.

That's sounds right to me. And fairly certain you'll be eligible of purchasing it all at one ala a Season Pass. So when Round Two releases, you just go ahead and download it.

The new music is great. Hopefully a remix of T.J. Combo's theme from the first game is in!

Speaking of which, not sure if this has been posted yet but I was checking out the Double Helix forums and somebody posted this:

Supposedly it's the new look for T.J. Combo. Feel free to take it with a grain of salt though, we all know blurry cell phone pics are less than reputable.

Combo is darker than that.

xD

I may be into Riptor because of other interests :P

but yeah your idea does sound great ^^

When Spinal returns, I think he'll be the most difficult character to fight against with someone who has really learned how to play as him. That Skeleport move makes him very a formidable foe when in the proper hands.

So far they kept all the signature things of the characters, don't know why they would not keep his teleport.

Exactly! If you're going to bring classic characters back, them their signature moves are necessary. Given the tease from Thunder, we can take from that that he'll still be utilizing his signature Tomakawk moves.

I think they are going to hold out some of the original characters for the second season. If they want people to buy more characters next season then they have to make sure some characters people want are in that pack.

You mean Barbarian, Chinese Lady, Amazon, and Bottles.

thats gotta be a joke. not the translation, but max's trip to an indian tribe and it costing in the thousands...

I really hope Orchid, Fulgore, and Spinal make the initial game. I have a feeling there will only be 6-8 characters at launch and we already know 4 of them now. I'll be buying the season pass and expect everyone in it eventually but it wouldn't feel like KI without these three.
