I fired up resistance 2 again and daaaaaamn!, the player movement/aiming is really really different!!....but I must be some rare breed of super gamer because it took me 10 seconds to adapt both ways.

It's the difference between feeling like you're playing with plastic nerf guns and real weapons. I prefer the latter, but have no problem adjusting to the former if necessary.
 
I wish you could drop the pistol for another weapon. Is it the same way in the final game or is it just demo only? It would suck if it were that way for the retail game.

Played this demo about 7 or 8 times now, fucking excellent, this is what console shooters should strive to be. Most "console" shooters these days would look and play better on the pc. This game's weighter weapons lends itself to the analogue stick very well.

Superb game.

Yes, it's pretty but I just feel like I've done it all before.

I really dislike the DS3 for FPS games. Especially when they map fire to R1 (yes, I know you can change it).

I'm not going to get into the picky nonsense of "controller lag" etc.

I'm just not impressed by the gameplay of it.

I'd love to know what games you find have better gameplay. If there's something better than Killzone 2, I'd love to try it out.

What the fuck. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. Personally, I find the gameplay in Halo 3 and BioShock to be better than Killzone 2's gameplay.

Based upon the single player videos and impressions, I thought KZ2 was going to revolutionize the FPS genre with JRPG elements combined with open-world mission based gameplay.

But now he's telling me it plays like a conventional shooter with great AI and gunplay? What was I ever thinking. I've been duped.

Pre-order canceled.
 
I think these might be my top 5 FPS games of all time, in no particular order:

Rainbow Six Vegas
Half Life 2
BioShock
Far Cry 2
Killzone 2

Singleplayer only. COD4 would be top of multiplayer :P

There's a LOT to criticise about KZ2, it's not the savior of the PS3 like some are making it out to be.

Who is making it out to be some sort of savior?

It's being hyped up because it's a fantastic, rather conventional shooter with a great multiplayer component and stellar graphics. That's all I asked for.

What exactly were you expecting?

I've seen a lot of games before. In fact, most of my favorite games don't do anything new. They just take conventional approaches and do them well. Revolutions in gaming are a rare occurrence. Most design work has been pretty established by certain genres for a long, long time.

No one was making it out the be a savior of the PS3, first of all the PS3 doesn't need saving; secondly, if you were under the assumption that people were making it out to be a 'savior' that's your own convenient misconception.

Seriously the whole 'people were making X game out to be a savior of the PS3':

I don't mind all to criticism.
More criticism means less people on multiplayer = less (possible) lag
If you don't like the game then don't play it. I really don't care.

BUT stop whining about it and just leave the thread.

Their analysis indicate that GTA4 had 10/60 input lag, whereas yours would suggest that KZ2 has 8/60, which is in line with other 30FPS games they tested, Halo 3 included (Halo 3 had 8-10/60 depending on action). It's just the way 30FPS games are made, I guess, I don't see why this one would require some special complaints when others never did. Maybe it's the slower acceleration (all FPS games have this kind of acceleration I think, it's just a bit slower here). It's not that people want unresponsive controls, it's that controls here (to me at least) feel right in line with the feel of the game and it's gameplay. It's easy to play, it's fun, and it's immersive.

I sure haven't played something like this before. I will ask this in a good way, please point me to a game that feels like Killzone 2, i'll give it a try without hesitating.

LOL at the hate. Some people want it NOT to be great.

I can care less about FPS games. HATE them. Every single one seems to be the same trodding shit over and over. R1 and R2 being the exception since I enjoyed R1's story and started getting into 2's MP.

Now the fact that KZ2 feels so fresh and different, enough to piss off fans who label games as saviors for consoles and those who put Halos and CoDs on pedistals and for some reason compare everything to them., I couldn't be more happy. Take your shit games, keep playing them, keep t-bagging your opponents and STFU and GTFO fucking please!!!! FFS.

EDIT: Oh.. and I've played through this demo and enjoyed it more than most games out there. Fucking amazing. This has nothing to do with hype, fanboyism or anything... it's a solid game. Fuck anyone looking for anything else, fucking tools.

Sorry to break it down to you but FPS have all been pretty much the same since doom. Yeah in all of them you play as a character in first person view, and you shoot the baddies.

There's a LOT to criticize about KZ2, but I won't actually critique anything specific to the game.

It's not a savior, therefore it is inherently flawed.

The fuck? I asked a simple question. I wanted to know what you find better than this game. Is there something wrong with asking that? I'm genuinely interested to see if there's something there I can broaden my horizons with.
 
So let me get this straight.... it's such a shocking revalation to some you that someone may not think the game (based off the demo) is what it's hyped to be?

Maybe the full title will be a better experience, but FOR ME it's just not living up to the hype.

If you like it, great. Fantastic even.

But, this place is about the only place I've seen where a differing opinion is a bad/offensive thing to some of you.

Hell, to be honest. I was more wowed by FarCry2. I found it to be a much more immersive experience so far. I went into that with pretty low expectations, and was very very impressed... and still am.

Like I also said, maybe the FULL version will provide a more "WOW" factor for ME.
