Anyway it doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but logic would dictate that as soon as something that fast hits you, you'll react involuntarily and not like they do in movies with the slowing and such.

Besides it's a beta and this has been brought up before(Slow death animations) Guerilla will probably speed it up. To me though it's not a big deal and actually makes the game better seeing the "oh no" reaction and then falling over.
 
There might be a delay of death animation in the game but i've never noticed it while playing. You really don't have time to watch people die in the game. You just shoot them and keep moving.
 
there's the argument to be made that if you get shot in the head you won't react until your brain stops working. Its called shock, like I didn't react when I broke my arm until way later. Just because movies portray some things in certain ways doesn't mean its how it really is. I mean, c'mon, we add low explosion sounds to punches in movies, you seriously think that's how it sounds when you punch someone??

I look at it as a mortally wounded animation which is what it is because you can still be revived by a medic before a certain amount of time passes.

Medic is the best class as far as I can tell for the way I play. The default rifle is one of the best weapons because of it's power and accuracy at long range. Unlocking the blood bag badge allows you to heal yourself fully over and over. The other classes not so rewarding for how I play.

Engineer - The shotgun in the game is decent, but I hardly ever use shotguns in FPS unless I'm running out of ammo. Turrets are too weak to kill anyone by themselves, easily destroyed, too hard to unlock secondary.

Assault - Boost is great, Rocket Launcher is good but only 3 rockets so you have to find a new gun or an ammo station. Not that 3 rockets is wrong, more and the game would become pretty unbalanced, it's just not a class I'd be thrilled about if it wasn't for the boost. Grenade launcher is pretty crappy. For some reason boost does not register in games for me so I couldn't find out about the secondary.

Tactician - Spawn points are good in a team work sense, but sort of useless because the teams can be split into groups of 4, re-spawning with the leader and the fact that the enemy can overtake and camp at the spawn point. Air Support is useless.

Saboteur - Fun to mess around with in enemies base, assassinations or earning some of your other medals (piston, melee, etc) but the starting weapons are far too weak.

Scout - Haven't unlocked but I love sniping in games which is probably why it's the most disappointing leveling system I've played. Forcing you to play for a long time just to unlock one sniping weapon is ridiculous.

You can snipe with the assault rifle no prob.

I think it IS good that they're letting people unlock the classes instead of giving them out at the beginning, it makes people want to earn those instead of just having those, because other cheapass rewards like those in COD4 would completely break the game.

This game is doing so much more in its death animations and how the character model reacts to being hit than most other games that its a little ridiculous people are even complaining about it.

Still this is how the game is going to be judged. It will be criticized in areas other games don't even try to accomplish.

When people get shot in the head, their heads dont move all that much. Bullets penetrate, they dont push the head. Movies have been lying to us far too long.

Look if this is the only thing people are whining about its like saying the water glass with a fine steak meal isn't chilly enough. Its an issue but not a very big deal overall.

Yeah I remember watching that special. It is a lot better to watch it now though because the levels they are showing are actually familiar.

They show a real picture of what they based the canal/trench in Blood Gracht on. So awesome. Thanks for posting this so I could watch it again. I can comprehend it a lot better now :)

It's probably just lag though (since it's online, and a beta at that). :P

Really? And yea you don't have time to watch people die but it would save me time and bullets if they would just die when they are supposed to.

When you hear the chirp, they're dead. You learn to love the chirp. You CRAVE the chip. The chirp is the best thing ever in a FPS.

Chirp = dead.

They should have chirp + visual indicator. For example in COD4/5 you clearly know when you killed someone by showing you points recieved.

Do you get points for kills?

Yep. Upper right hand corner of the UI.

In case I haven't made my point...

The chirp is the best thing EVER. It beats a visual kill message. It beats a points display. It beats them all. The nice thing is, Killzone 2 has them all :)

Not good enough tbh. When you're shooting somebody you're focusing towards the center of your screen, not the upper right.

I thought this was common sense.

I know about the chirp, that and the death animation kicks in too late too often. I call bullshit if anyone in this beta doesn't die at the same time as the enemie or one second after they killed him (by him) every now and then.

The message seems to imply that it is not strictly client server infrastructure. It may be though and decide to steal someones bandwidth after the server machine crashes... somehow.

The chirp is late?
The chirp plays the INSTANT the other person dies, wtf are you people talking about.
Stop trying to nitpick. You guys are reaching and grasping for whatever you cant get your hands on. Just drown in peace and dont get everybody else involved XD

Also, the bullets in this game don't instantly hit whatever you're shooting at. It takes some time for the bullet to travel...it's really evident when you're using the sniper rifle and you're trying to shoot somebody that's running. You have to compensate.

Yeah, we point our guns at the other team and shoot. That's all you need to know about. :)
 
Just played against a really brave guy, one on one - and he's using turrets or whatever they're called. I hope you're reading this!

Yea, happens all the time. I think this is something that should be tweaked, frankly. It's tough to 'get the drop' on someone because if you get hit, you're basically dead .... it's very rare that you're surviving an engagement
