Even if Killzone 2 had 150 hours of single-playercampaign runthrough time, people would be bitching it's too short. Gameplay-hours != awesomeness of experience people!

I'd rather have 12 hours of kickass gameplay than 50 hours of dragging the story on and on and on and on through dull gameplay.

I love how people leap to conclusions that aren't there. If the gameplay is awesome, the gameplay is awesome. True, the story may drag, but stories in videogames are pointless filler to begin with.

Unless you feel you need totally logical, epic set pieces to enjoy gameplay (the two really are not dependent on each other....and if these are your criteria you probably enjoy virtually zero games as even the best of them story-wise have massive plotholes and gapes in logic).

I hope old stuff and new stuff are on different vids? I don't want to be spoilered.

Yes. No worries. I took 12 videos, numbered from 01 to 12. They where all taken in sequence, so the closer you get to 12, the higher the chances you'll get spoiled.

ie: video 01 is the first level (brutal landing, bridge explosion, tank section etc). Video 12 is the boss fight. So my suggestion is to download and watch them in sequence, and stop when you start to see new stuff.

I thought Uncharted was like 960x1080 (or something like that) in 1080i mode?

Still, looks like the game will be 7-8 hours. Good by me!

Anyone else have an urge to play uncharted?

Isn't that what native 1080i is? Perhaps I'm being a dunce. Forget the "like Uncharted" bit then.

people will still post crap like "it didnt sell 4 million in 2 weeks" hence it is failure... so dont worry.... we just need to bookmark crappy posts so we can laugh later on...

I am not even checking KZ2 stuff until they game comes out... why torture myself?
If TTP says that graphics are godly - TTP who is nitpicking graphics whore of GAF, then who they fuck am I to say anything based on just few videos...

Even MP graphix are godly. >:3

TTP: Can you tell anything about the cut scenes? Like are they interactive, controlling the camera or alternative camera and such? They are supposed to be all real time so...

Like Uncharted, Killzone 2 will support 1080i natively. Not upscaled.
Seb Downey has confirmed that Killzone 2 natively supports 1080i. Here is the quote:

"I got a message from one of our code gurus today about me talking about the 720p stuff I was spewing incorrectly and told me that we now support 1080i natively too. Glad they got that in too. Now rejoice!

Native 1080i is a 1080x1920 resolution, unlike 1080p though it is not progressive.

Chances are Uncharted is upscaled to a larger resolution but still under actual 1080x1920.

Support is still important though since early HDTVs do not support 720p, forcing user to play in 480p.

They are all real time for sure. But I don't see anything interactive in them.

Wut. It displays half of the resolution each frame...

That portion of GAF also known as ADD GAF needs to be put on ignore by everyone. Those poor saps only has NPD to look forward to each month. :lol

I am so glad to hear that about the AI. That's what makes games like Halo 3 and Uncharted really, really fun. The engaging and random aspects to it :)

If this game has a similar length and replayability as Uncharted I will be VERY happy. I already know that the multiplayer TOTALLY delivered.

I can't wait to see the graphics in some of these single player levels.
This is what I like to hear. To date Uncharted is the only game I've completed to 100% Twice!!!!! If Killzone 2 is any indication of length and awesome it will most likely be my second.

KZ gets way to much hate for its AI.

Even KZ1 had adequate AI, playing it right now and they are very aware. KZ2 seems a bit to easy so far from the impressions but easy =/= bad.

And Halo 3 has good AI but is it really "The Best" sounds more like a summary of gaming myths rather than researched fact.

If that means what I think it means, then GG chose an idiot to design these trophies.

It means, for at least one week, you have to be really good.

I don't like MP ranking trophies like those. They suck.

Man I dont think I am going to watch any of the new videos. I mean I wont be able to avoid the deluge of
gifs that will be landing in this thread but I want the game and environments to be fresh to me.

But but but how are you gonna provide awesome gifs without looking at the trailers? Hmmm... I guess you could automate the process, just get some program that chooses a random point in the video and creates a 5-sec gif. Every part of KZ2's videos is emminently giffable. :D

I guess you'll have to concentrate on wallpapers, it's safer. ;)

well i usually dont like the ones where you have to use a certain X number of times because it encourages constant use of whatever weapon it is, but a ranking trophy just encourages you to be good, i dont really see a big problem with that.

No, actually it is the exact opposit, for one week you have to spend more time than anyone else playing this game.

So good luck beating those people (some without a job) sinking 8-10 hours a day into this game.

I hate MP trophies. I don't have enough time in a day to keep playing a game to be good at it.

Ha wallpapers are indeed safer.

May find this interesting. From the US PS forums. Killzone dev response thread.

...3. You talk about the trophy system a bit some where in pages 30-40 yes there is alot apparently someone on youtube played the DEMO at PlayStation Day and saw the trophys and decided to put it up.....but you should keep em all they were pretty cool=)...

3. It is a old list now.

New levels, different names, more or less trophies, different trophies all possible.

Also again.

Reevr said:
Ok new question.

The Trophy list was leaked and I'm wondering if you could further explain these 4 trophies

Valor Grand Cross - Achieve weekly online rank #4
Valor Cross - Achieve weekly online rank #3
Valor Medal - Achieve weekly online rank #2
Valor Citation - Achieve weekly online rank #1

Allot of people seem to think that you have to #1-4 on the leaderboards to get these trophies. Is that true?

Also is there still 10 levels? The trophy list doesn't show 10 levels.

motherh666 said:
Its an old list and I am not commenting on the trophies more than that.

deepbrown said:
Well I've just read 7...and all listed. So unless I can't count...

edit: Rifleman:

Engineer:

Medic:

Scout:

Assault:

Tactician:

Saboteur:

yeah, I'm an idiot. There are 6 classes (plus the "no class" rifleman)

Therefore people who are able to put in the time should be rewarded for that extra effort. It makes sense.

It sucks that we might not be able to get the almighty platinum trophy because of hard requirements but that's what the platinum trophy is about.

It begins:

Despite being painted in all manner of grey shades, Killzone 2 is artistically and graphically striking. Where some games might drown in this monotonous palette, Killzone 2 interrupts its art style with carefully chosen accent colours; the red dress of Shindler’s List is introduced to explosion sparks, rays of sunlight, and the Helghast’s glowing eyes: the original trailer’s visual style has been beautifully reproduced.

Flying people carriers disturb debris dirt, creating swirling clouds that interfere with shafts of light seeping through the dust. Killzone 2’s lighting further impresses with multitude light sources carefully placed to produce the optimal atmosphere. The game’s aesthetic is completed by subtle motion blur (making reload animations hyper-realistic) and shadows cast by everything from particles to enemies.

They are just regurgitating old stuff it seems. Didn't find anything new there.
It's new because they played it. Plus it pleases me - stuff that "monotonous grey" people throw at it. It's beautiful.

Well no shit ;p. What I meant was there's absolutely no new info in that article other than "we've played it, it's great! And colorful!", feels pretty much like a summary of all the other posted info/tidbits thus far.

It seems a bit superfluous when the real deal will hit in a couple of days.

TTP, one non-spoilerish question: does the framerate hold up well in the singleplayer?

That needs polish, going by MY standards. Drops are VERY rare tho, and when they occur it's not a deal breaker either.

GG has just lately started to optimize the code and promises solid 30fps. They sound pretty confident about that. No reason to doubt considering what they have achieved thus far. Also, my preview build appears to be older than the one showed during the press event in Amsterdam, and reports from those that attended say frame rate is "solid".

Anyways, everything is in the videos. If you don't see frame drops there, it means your standards are lower than mine so it should be fine even if it ships in this state ;)

Thanks for the answer. I could live through the tearing of Uncharted and GT5:P and the occasional nasty framedrops in Gears of War (X360) etc. so this makes me glad. I trust you when you say it's very rare. :D

WELL SORRRYY. I thought it was pretty well written. And it has quite a few complaints as well. What else new were you expecting? "I'm playing the same gameplay in a new environment now"?

And about tearing. There is NONE.
