Just finished demo. Very good so far I had fun. The AI was good they would all move out of my line of fire. I was in a firefight with two Helghast that kept running out to shoot at me then going back to cover. Later on I saw one Helghast blind fire at me from cover. And my teammate once screamed at me 'Dammit Sev take cover!' when I was running around getting shot at. I'm loving the personalities of your companions.

How short is this demo?

*10% and counting*
Way, way too short.

The game feels incredibly organic in the way everything moves. You almost never spot animation transitions. For me that is one of the most impressive things about it.

Oh yea...and the loading screens...they're hot.

Was anyone else's gamma correction screen turned all the way up yet couldn't see the helghast logo? It seems they didn't take into account people with properly calibrated screens (IE CRTs that have great blacks).
I have a CRT monitor (fw900) and an HDFury, and the logo is visible at the default setting.

Yes, the demo is so much fun! The game really looks to be all that after all. Just as a note, I had no problem with controls whatsoever. Loved the speed, aiming, everything at default, except for using the Alt 2 control. I love my L1 ironsight :-D

KZ2 is a day one for me. That demo was jawesome.

Above average, even?
I think you could say that, yes.

I also think you could say that - seeing the game run on my TV as I type - I actually can't think of a better looking console game right now. Guerilla really put those dollars to good use.

*) Its funny how the SIXAXIS can wiggle the loading screens around
*) The amount of stuff going on is a very chaotic feeling
*) Definitely you should have a surround sound system to play this on
*) The AI is impressive and it does feel different each time

yeah, two times with the demo and I'm really enjoying it.

one small fix I would have wanted is when you use control style Alt 2, the one with aim on L1, and you stand behind cover for aim to also be R3. Melee isn't used behind cover, so why not?

(Alt 2 control scheme with toggle off FTW)

This. Played through the demo in 11 minutes with the default control scheme and I felt a little disconnected. Swapped to Alt 2, checked the zoom box, and my second playthrough was much more enjoyable. Really like the cover system. Wish they included a second difficulty level though. Can't wait until I get my hands on the retail version!

I think I hate having been a game tester for so many years.

LOVED every minute of the 24 minutes 34 seconds I spent my first time through.

I did however find what my job taught me to find... bugs. Plenty of them, but none in any-way detracting from the experience.

Shadow clipping, floating bullet impacts on the large fans, ragdoll clipping through geometry, object vanishing when shot

I'll say this for the last time. Use Standard 1. Default controls. Get used to it and it will become second nature by the time you hit the 5th demo playthrough. It's the best configuration.

I second this.

Wow. I knew this was a day 1 due to the beta, but now I am all for the single player as well. If I can expect 10hrs . . .

The HGH are pretty aggressive for the second lowest difficulty setting. I had one guy jump out (in the warehouse), say "You will die, momentarily!", take some pop shots then circle around the large shelves and flank me while his buddies suppressed my position. I didn't die, but it was a damn good attempt!

I can't believe that so many journalists panned cover as unnecessary. It seems pretty critical to me. Cover is very intuitive. I personally don't have problems with the L2/R2 triggers, and I am using Alternate 1 with click iron-sights. This way I just hold L2 to take cover, push the left stick to lean, then click R3 to snap into iron-sights - very slick. The blind fire is nice as well.

I don't really know that the game needs to be criticized for a lack of innovation. What it is doing, it is doing very well.

The HGH AR sounds a lot beefier now. The weapon reminds me of some type of vicious dog (like a Sheppard or Rottweiler) out for blood. Now it seems even more ravenous!

SHIT! 15 minutes late!!

Anyway, I enjoyed using Alt 2, but I'll give the default scheme a go later today. Also, in my haste to talk about the aesthetics of the game, I forgot to mention the AI. They move around. A LOT. They dodge grenades, re-locate and find new cover if you miss a few shots in their vicinity and I when I went kamikaze for the last guy in the warehouse, he charged at me too, and I beat him to the melee attack and took him out. Pretty good if you ask me, but what do I know, I'm not a games journalist.

I don't like toggling my zoom and it doesn't make sense to hold down the right stick. I dunno, TTP.

Alt 2 would be perfect if it had toggle crouch instead of just toggle zoom.

yeah, that's what I might stick with for single player, maybe... Multiplayer is a different story.

also, toggle crouch would be another solution.

yea ill try alt 2, default controls aren't bad but i really need L1 for scope.

You don't have to hold it down. Just push once. It's toggle. I dunno how pushing L1 makes more "sense" but go ahead. Different configurations are there to please everyone.
Standard 1 is still the best one :P

is the killzone site down for anyone else? My friend told me there was a really cool history, but when I enter in my date and all it says it's invalid.

its not out yet in the States...FFS read the thread!!

Ah, I see. I woke up to see people playing it so I assumed. Guess I'll have to wait until I get home.

You should probably be cursing your parents which obviously gave you retard genes

Nice, I'll be sure to give a flying fuck what you think once I'm done giving you a retarded brother

Is the aim accleration comparable to far cry 2? I can't play the demo myself, PS3 is dead. :( I really hated the aiming in far cry 2, so I'm a bit nervous...

No, no, not even close. It feels just right in Killzone 2.
