KILLZONE 2 - input lag now? if you want a reskinned COD4, go play WaW

I really like the default controls.

It feels like you have your right hand working on the majority of gun controls (aim, shoot, ironsight, reload, etc) and offensive moves like nades. And on the left hand you control movement, run, duck and cover, and melee.

So if I want to run up to someone and melee I can do that all with the left hand. And if I want to just stand there and shoot with the ironsight that's all on the right hand.

If that makes any sense.

This game looks too real, to the point that I got a little sick. :lol I never got sick with CoD4, but I assume I'll be able to handle playing KZ2. It's so awesome. OH! And the title screen music is badass. :D
 
The controls feel a little clunky to me but I'm probably just not used it. And I still can't stand the DS3's loose sticks and worthless triggers.

But overall, great presentation and some great graphics. It's 2 am here so I had to turn the volume way down. Gonna try the full 5.1 experience tomorrow.

Sweet, perfect timing. Btw, guys the speed is pretty good for the GS download. I just started it not even a minute ago and it's at 7% already

played 5 times, already my fav fps

- looks ace, better than anything out there in consoles, can't see my decent PC doing this
- audio is better than graphics, my 5.1 headphones are crying sweet tears of love and joy
- cover system is simply designed for me, I loved FEAR "lean system" so what can I say
- AI is so-so, but hey the demo is easy mode all the way
- guns feel real, weight, recoil, feedback, amazing and satisfying
- PS3 vindicated, I never will doubt you again.
 
Amazing.
Used default controls with all-the-way uped sensitivity, feels great. Using the right analog to aim vs. L1 is easy to learn and is clearly the way the game is meant to be played.

Visuals are mind numbing. That is all to say really. I don't think there is a console game that does any aspect of the visuals better than this.

Small load hitches are rare and never in a bad spot. Happens maybe twice over the course of the demo.

All in all, I am blown away. Glad my control worries were not present, I can see someone who plays COD everyday for the last 6+ months having a few problems adapting but it'll click.

Also I killed Garza like 3 times and once he got back up the third time him and Rico killed me. :lol

EDIT: OH THE AI! They felt a bit easy on this mode but they were clearly thinking. Took cover, if they could they would scoot to the side if you tried shooting them. Ran away from grenades but still to another cover, not just out in the open. Died once on my first playthrough but not since then, I will start on the hard mode when I get the retail version.

An FPS has never felt so good to me. :D

EDIT2: Good bit of dialogue too, said different little things on different playthroughs, AI different each time.

What a disappointing demo. Short level, very unsatisfying other than blowing up a bridge, you can't even change the friggin difficulty...what the hell is that crap? If Killzone 2 is really a 5 out of 5 game, they sure picked the wrong level to demo it. It did nothing for me.

And why can't I change the difficulty instead of playing it on "Don't Hurt Me" difficulty? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
 
Don't want to burn myself out on the demo too much, as I'm definitely buying the game now, but I tried it for the 2nd time. It's really fun how things don't happen the same way, Helghasts really have some nice AI routines that keep you at your toes, even on repeat plays. I still can't get over how ridiculously good the game looks. Even though I've seen this level several times in videos, seeing it for the first time with no compression, and then being able to control it is just so impressive. They struck a really good balance between controls responsiveness and the sense of weight, and animations.

I hope noone really thinks bad of the demo for being rather short. This demo is definitely enough to let you make up your mind if the game is worthy of purchase or not. If it was twice as long this would not change in any way, and they don't want to make the demo so long that people would have enough fun just playing it over and over, and never purchasing the game.
 
Sounds are awesome. Visuals are awesome. Though I have to point out that the preview version of the sky was much better. It looks more flat and still now. Some of the shadows are a bit blocky, though most are fine. Everything else is fantastic.

I really like the shooting, the guns are good in every way, and just shooting them is a nice feeling.

The only problem is that the demo is pretty short and we have to wait for the full game for so long.

BTW a small clip will roll if you idle at the menu screen.

didn't play enough to finish, though.

impressions:

graphics
-just as nice as in all the vids, if not even better due to no compression/encoding, running at realtime.
-everything's so chaotic, feeling more like a battlefield than any other game that i've ever played. I found myself just wondering aimlessly partly cause i wanted to look at the scenery, and also it was just so crazy everywhere.

mechanics
-the aiming is dead slow, but gives the weapons a really solid sense of weight. again, the weapon's solidarity feels like nothing that has ever tried to attempt such a thing (in a good way).

sound
-if the graphics are the yang, than the sound would be the ying.
-both audio/video combined to create the killzone 2 experience


gonna play more when i get home

But seriously, just go to the Euro PSN store and download it already. Ur missing so much awesomeness I cant even begin to describe it.

Nah, it's a SP demo and lasts about 5-10 minutes depending on how you play it. Fucking awesome though, and I've already gone through it a couple times.

Things I love:
- Graphics (duh)
- Enemies for the most part move around and don't sit in the same spot
- Squadmates make random comments when you perform something special (I killed a guy with a bullet to the head and one of my squad mates made some headshot comment lol)

Things I don't like:
- Frame rate isn't locked
- Slight delay to weapons (?)
- It's too short :lol

The only sticking issue is the slight delay in aiming but I don't know if it's just because I haven't played in a while and need to get readjusted to the controls. RE5 must have screwed up my motions...
