I like that i can reload while running, couldn't in the beta

Also love that with the STA14 i could get the pleasure of blowing heads off and watch him still get a few steps like an headless chicken while still firing his weapon :lol

People who are replying to 65536's post..you guys do know you're arguing with andrewfee right? Yes, the same andrewfee who single handley derailed the official uncharted thread and goes out of his way to nitpick ps3 games. Anyway, don't take andrew's "complaints" too seriously.

I always wonder what makes these people tick. Its one thing to say "I hate democrats" but its quite another to say "I hate them and I also don't want them to be happy so I will crap on anything they like".

See... To me this is pretty godawful behavior which we really don't need in society.

I found it comical that you can shoot off the helmet of the Helghast and they don't notice.

If this happened to someone in real life you'd likely have your bell rung pretty hard. I'd imagine you'd be stunned like someone knocked your helmet off with a baseball bat.

Just played the demo.

It's a pretty good shooter, but I haven't found that X Factor yet that has me genuinely excited for this game yet. Honestly, it probably just wasn't long enough. I wish it would have been a multiplayer demo; who buys these things for the campaign anymore? :lol

Great sound, great graphics, but you do fight the controls a bit, particularly the speed of the aiming. Sorry, but if you're a shooter competing in the same market as other shooters, differentiate yourself in ways that don't annoy the player.

There were a lot of nice touches, such as the Helghast chatter and explosion damage.

i dont understand how people can complain about the controls, seriously what is it? I dont get it, its like people want the controls to be the same in every fps, KZ2 is pretty much the same with a cover system, shit is awesome imo.

also these characters feel like they're running around with weight and heavy ass guns, great stuff.

This and Mirror's Edge is how fps movement should be from now on, no more floating guns pls.

Guerrila's new logo animation is awesome

You do know Crysis' motion blur is adjustable right????
Yes. The poster I was responding to complained that the motion blur in the Killzone 2 demo looked exaggerated, faked, etc. The point of my post was to say that he was mistaken, and that if he was to see those flaws in a game, he could see the screenshot I posted. Maybe after seeing how the best-looking game on PC struggles with selective imitation blur, he'd have a better impression of just how balls-out-awesome the motion blur in KZ2 is.

FWIW, the screenshot I provided was used by Nvidia themselves for demonstration purposes to show off the absolute latest in motion blur shader technology in Directx 10.

I've only heard him say, "Boost", and "Don't drop me like last time."

Pretty cool that he has other line's too.
He actually has a whole bunch of other lines at that particular spot. It's pretty funny how something so small got that much attention. You have to love that kind of attention to detail.

HOLY SHIT!!!! If you friendly kill a couple of your guys they shoot you dead!! Fucking awesome, i've never seen that in a game

...Halo

And no, I'm not here to troll or start shit.

I loved the demo. I'm gonna play it over and over and over. Guerrilla has delivered

I'm impressed with the demo but, I kept hitting every button trying to use the alternative fire for the Helgast Rifle which is the shot gun (Killzone1) ITs GONE, N0O0.

That is my only disappointment so far.

This has probably already been mentioned, but I find it COMPLETELY HILARIOUS that GG felt the need to put that video at the end of the US demo where they display a shitload of review quotes from various game reviewers gushing about the game like they have to fucking sell you on it or something. HELLO, you forced us to pre-order it before we even had the privilege of downloading your short-as-all-hell demo! We've already bought the game, ffs.

I guarantee they would have had more first week sales and general positive word of mouth had they simply made the US demo free to everyone.

Some people shouldn't be allowed nickchanges.

Where are people getting the STA14? I know the guy on top of the office has it, but when I shoot him in his legs while he is near the edge, he just goes backwards.

That stupid pre-order shit is only for the US, everyone else can get the demo for nothing from the euro store. PWNED

A grenade did the trick for me.

NPDs only care about US sales. PWNED

Damn good demo. :D I was in the beta so I wasn't surprised by the weightiness of the movement or anything. Did fiddle with the controls a bit, nothing major but having to press and hold R3 while using right stick to move the cursor is just unworkable for me. Once I changed the zoom to stay zoomed on clicking R3 rather than hold for zoom 90% of my troubles went away.

Excellent mini-battles, looks great sounds great etc etc. While I really liked the demo and am excited for the game I think ppl who aren't really familiar with every little thing about the game pre-release should ignore some of the over-hype in the (too) numerous KZ2 threads. It's a very good demo for what looks to be (at worst) a very very good game, but don't go into the demo expecting a life changing videogame experience. ;)

Just played the demo. I'm still real sick so I'll make this short and quick.

Lots of fun, i really like being able to replay the demo and finding different ways to meet the objective, really really smart AI, even on the low setting it's above most games, graphics look fantastic, some light texture draw in, some low resolution shadows, and I'm personally not a fan of motion blur, but these are still the best graphics on any console by a large margin. Gamma settings look correct on my calibrated crt, and the game looks cleaner in 1080i than 720p for me, as it should since my set is 1440x1080i native. Demo just left me impatiently wanting more.

This may have been answered earlier but do any of you guys know if the gun blur when you turn can be turned off in the release version when drops? I think if I played it for a while I would get sick lol

Holy shit @ this game with a 5.1 setup. Unlike most games you can actually hear the fucking dialogue and it sits in the mix correctly just like a movie. This game sounds fucking amazing.

7.1 PCM here baby :D
Can't wait for the real game.

After a couple of playthroughs, the game reminded me of how much I suck at console shooters. Got to get decent before the retail game comes out...

Even on normal mode, it seems pretty tough to me. If you don't headshoot the Helghast troops, they seem to be able to take a lot of hits, and really love to take cover. I think I died twice on grenades when they through them back at me, and once when a Helghast bashed me with his rifle behind my back

I'm surprised at the number of audio languages available (Maybe that's why the demo was 1.2gb?), going to try a few foreign languages for kicks.
This post pretty much sums it up. I can only play Halo 2/3 properly :lol
The demo was awesome, but I have yet to be completely sold on it.

I don't know if GG have said anything about a public NA demo but I would think it is definitely coming. The pre-order exclusivity is probably a week or two.

I wonder if the "Killzone.com" option in the menu will bring up the explorer or they will adapt the site content to the game?... It would be quite nice if they adapt the content to show in-game with the Killzone 2 menu styles.

Just completed my first play thru and here are my first impressions:

1. AFW graphics...just WOW!!! lighting is unmactched. Period! Very cinematic. (plenty of colors too)
2. The sound is amazing even through my measly monitor speakers. Cant wait to play it on a proper surround system.
3. Control issues???? I was really afraid about them after reading some of the impressions. WTF is wrong with some of you? It controls just like other FPSes I have played. Yes it takes some time to get use to them (took me 5-10 mins) but they are not something you can't get adjusted to. Cover is intutive (not sure why some of you were whinning about that too). Default setting works great
4. Guns!!! OMG!!! they feel real...love the sound, recoil, animation..so satisfying.

I am really psyched about the MP now after playing the demo. You beta players were right about this being one of the best FPS to come out. :D

Thank you GG for not disappointing us!!!

Hail to the new king baby!

Do the helghast curse? I sworn when i threw a grenade at a crowd one of them said "Ah shit" and bailed out.

Oh yeah, they curse if you catch them by surprise with a nade! This demo reminds me a lot of the Uncharted Demo! I just keep replaying it over and over again! Just enough to make you want more and more! I can't wait until the 27th!

Finally got some alone time in this evening. Standard 1 is fukkin awesome when you are using cover. I am finding that I use cover in almost every skirmish and being able to click the stick and hold my Iron sites works extremely well in this config, I am glad I took TTP advise and got used to this.

The AI is FANTASTIC, even at this low level setting, I can't wait to play this on the harder levels. That weopan you get in the warehose is pretty sick, and I love the unpredictability of hitting the propane tanks. I have played through the demo a few times now, and each time it has been a different experience. Reminds me of the Uncharted demo in that way.

Off to play more :)

Yeah, cover works amazingly well for me. I am using it all the time. It is a very useful addition to the FPS genre.

Anyone else hear something similar to the Wilhelm scream from a helghast? I kind of heard it and thought, that's an odd voice for a helghan, but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't like the slow turning speed.. but the graphics and the 7.1 PCM surround sound are great.. It makes it easy to hear 'nades next to me when the helgast throw them.

Lol, some of the dying screams from the helghast when you put the game in spanish are hilarious. I'm loving the over-the-top voice work.

the controls = perfect

the acceleration totally makes up for the loose DS3 sticks. outstanding. I wasn't goint to buy this on day one, but fuck it, day one baby.

Yeah, I heard it as well and laughed :lol

It felt kinda out of place, but I only heard once and it was funny, so I guess they just added it as an small joke?

I'm surprised that FPS devs never adopted Medal of Honor: Airborne's neat lean-and-peak option, especially since it doesn't require them to program an actual lock-on cover system.

Hopefully we'll see more first-person shooters with a Killzone 2-like cover system. They'll probably tend to be more tactical than not, which is a good thing.

Man, the AI is such a trip. Even the friendly AI surprised me a few times. On my second playthrough I decided to try some different angles on the warehouse floor. I had my back to a corner with my left flank exposed for a few seconds. Rico's on the other side of the room and suddenly points in my direction yelling "hey, enemy!" or something like that. I turn around and sure enough there's a Hig all up in my grill. He's all like "ha ha I flanked joo!". Thankfully I was able to melee his ugly face in time. Love it.

As far as the controls go, I'm surprised how quickly I took to the default setting. I usually loath L3/R3 mapped to anything, let alone for something as integral to a shooter. But with the cover system its essential, and the rhythm of toggling back and forth works surprisingly well.

I absolutely love the sense of weight and inertia for the different guns. Wasn't sure what to expect with some of the comments pointing towards sluggishness, but after 15 minutes or so I was leading headshots down the sights and spraying from the hip with ease. Didn't even touch the sensitivity. Its not sluggish, its grounded and consistent. There's a genuine center of gravity and a sense that you're handling a heavy, efficient weapon. This is a very unique feeling shooter, and practically a paean to ballistics.

I can see why the control might turn some folks off. But for me this is an approach I wanted to see out of the genre for a long time. Its going to be a little hard going back to traditional 'cam on stick' gunplay after this.

One thing I'd recommend, turn off the reticule. It makes it a bit more challenging firing from the hip, but you can still be really accurate once you get an eye for the trajectory. And for once, firing from the hip feels like firing from the hip.
