BlaBlurn, since you got the German Promo Version. Is English included if the Console is switched to EN or do i have to import the UK version?

I think you can be pretty sure that it will be multilingual like every other Sony release so far.

Every disc has all the languages. You are asked to select it right before the game starts, no matter what the XMB language is.

BUT BE ADVISED: once the game starts and saves the profile data there is no turning back to language selection screen unless you delete the save file. You just don't get prompted anymore and there is no language selection option in the options menu.

For what I saw/read, seems closer to review code than preview. The two Higs chatting in the warehouse weren't there in the preview code. But someone has to confirm me whether or not they react to grenades. Cos someone said they don't, but in the review code they do (escape, scream, die).

They definitely react to the grenade in the demo build. At least for me.

They should I seriously think it looks 100% better. It was like when we where watching all that beta footage from sp and then they showed the new build. It was that big of a difference.
Also control wise Alt 2, with Hold Zoom on is pure sex. My god I was doing some crazy stuff when I got into that part right before the demo.

Yup.. but try Alt 2, with zoom hold on and see how you like that. I was doing ok with the other controls but something clicked when I had those settings on.

i just tried the limited, i think i'll have to play it again on full just to double check but yeah it does kinda look better

i may be wrong but

we'll see

That RGB option did more harm than good. I recall when it was introduced in the XMB everyone was like "OMG colors are more dense! So awesome!" but it actually negatively affects visual quality on most sets. I didn't realize this until GTAIV. I could barely see the mobile phone keyboard and I thought that was too odd. So I investigated and realized RGB Full equals very bad. I did replay some games after setting it to Limited and I was surprised about how better they looked.
It's important to pay attention to "most sets" as some displays can take advantage of this option. The Pioneer Kuro set I use can properly display this by enabling the proper settings within the TV.

So you see the Helghan symbol on your set up with RGB set to Full?

I have a Bravia W4000 and no matter how I set up the HDTV, it doesn't like RGB Full.

reviews out, promo discs out, even the trolls are out! Sony release the damn game already and grab the money while it's hot!!!

Anyone else noticed that bullet holes hang in the air when you shoot physics objects such as containers? I noticed it in the warehouse on the small ledge infront of the lower floor office. I'd shoot the boxes and stuff up there and the boxes would go flying but the bullet holes would just stay in the air.

These controls are super hard for me. I'm having a hell of a time getting the bad guys in my sights. I think its going to take a whole hell of a lot of getting used to for me.

I agree. I immediately felt it was like a first person gears (slow, heavy feel and stuff), that's why I felt a disconnect when the button layout was so different. I want to map it like this.
X --> for sticky/toggle cover. I don't want to hold it to stay in cover.
Big triggers for zooming and shooting.

COD is much faster, enemies respawning and very limited AI behavior. Its similarity with COD is in the more 'realistic' visual style, very superficially at that.
It's also weird that its turning and aiming is slow with a narrow field of view which makes it harder to see the battlefield. It's a bit like blinders. This isn't a problem in 3rd person but maybe I can get used to that.

After playing through the demo three times last night, I really started to get the hang of the controls at the end. I forced myself to learn the control set-up for the default options. I just turned the sensitivity up a couple notches.

Anyway ... after playing ... I don't really see the COD comparisons very much. I thought the game let you go a couple routs as you could run and gun from the hip and you could also stop and pop alla gear or uncharted. I thought it was neat employing both tactics in different areas.

I'm gonna need to play through the thing a couple more time to really get the controls down, but I had a fun time on my last playthough last night.

Not so much my first. :lol

put this image on your ps3. if you can see some squares of the upper row, everything's fine. if not adjust your rgb setting.

I tried, but Crouching and shooting was almost impossible. I barely use my middle finger when playing so it was really unusual and hard for me to shoot out of cover.

If they add a toggle Crouch option, I would instantly switch to Alt 2.

I'm also waiting for the Gioteck Triggers, maybe it'll get better/easier.
Yeah I just realized this. Damn.. it feels right when your not crouching though :( It doesn't seem like a hard thing to patch though. Hopefully they'll fix it when its released(or shortly after)

It doesn't need fixing. Go back to standard 1 and get fucking used to it.

Yup,try shooting between filing cabinet drawers and you see the half the bullet hole stick to the first drawer and the other half bullet hole in the air. Anyway,no game is perfect dude.

I am use to it.. I've been playing standard up to today. I've never actually complained about the Standard 1 setting so just chillout dude. Alt 2 is better for me and adding a crouch toggle wouldn't take that much effort.

Yep. Actually, I can drop the in game brightness by several notches and still make out the detail in the emblem (at RGB full).

It's an actual setting on my TV, however. You can change the colorspace and I am currently using the 0-255 colorspace. If I set it to 15-235, however, it crushes blacks just as you are seeing. RGB full is just that, it uses the full 0-255 colorspace. If your TV does not support that, however, you'll be losing color detail.

I know. Thanks for reminding me that ;P

For all the people that are like "omg it's much better after turning RGB space to limited", there is 99.9% chances this is because your TV does NOT support full RGB (and most TVs do not, actually). So yes, while colours usually look better with full, it will completely fuck up the blacks and you won't see shit in dark areas.

The controls are a bit confusing, I thought the demo was alright. Too short for me to really get a good idea for the game though.

I own a W4000 too and it doesn't support RGB Full. That said, it makes no difference at all. RGB Full is not better as the name suggests, it's basically the same for the normal user. They should have named it RGB Video and RGB PC, no one would use it then...

I'm asking myself how many people out there use the "full" setting because it sounds better and they are crushing all the blacks till a point where games are almost unplayable.

I have a question (which just occurred to me and I can't try it out now cause I'm at work)

So when you are just crouch and you move behind cover, do you automatically get into the cover stance or do you have to let go of crouch and press it again to get into cover?

That could be the reason why crouch isn't toggleble.

Colors only look better because there is more black in the picutre. All the greys turn black, therefore the picture has mor contrast and colors seem to be richer. On a TV which actually DOES support RGB Full, you don't notice a difference between limited/correct TV setting and full/correct TV setting. I owend a Samsung M86 which did actually support RGB Full, because of that I made my experience... ^^

My Sony 46Z4100 has a color space option of "wide". Would this be what you are refering to? Set RGB to full, then put in in the wide color space?

You automatically get into cover stance, yeah.

One thing I miss is the secondary fire from the original. The Helghast assault rifle used to have an awesome under mount shotgun that was really satisfying to use.

I have Wide as well. Doesn't seem to help with the RGB thing.

This game can't come soon enough. After playing a few times, the controls felt so right. I love the feeling of taking different positions and picking them off one by one. Also feels good to shoot the living hell out of a Helghast and watch the hit response system in action. I was very impressed with the animations, from legs dangling back and forth from being dead on the roof to how the enemy will just slide down and slump if you kill them while he is sitting in cover. Online should be fantastic.

i like it without a duck toggle. Reminds me of CS...I play all my PC FPS's without a duck toggle, its always hold to duck.

Yeah, it reminds me of CS in a lot of ways. The gun you start out with is just like the M4 and the Helghast gun is like the AK. Personally, I like the larger recoil of the Helghast rifle. I was really surprised because I think from watching the 1up show I thought that all the guns would have much larger recoil. I'm hoping CS2 implements the ironsights and gets rid of the crosshairs completely when you're shooting from the hip.

There is no relation between the 2? When you crouch in shoot in CS you just crouch and shoot it's not anything like sticking to cover then pressing forward on the analog then zooming with another button. I don't see the correlation unless your talking MP.

The more I play the demo the more I want Killzone 2 to come out. Every time I play it I see some cool crap I missed the last time around. This is going to make the wait even more unbearable :lol

I'm positive that they do. I had some good moments when they reacted to my grenades. I dont think they ever ignored my grenades other tha.. well actually they do react during that scripted talk between the two helgain soldiers. I was thinking, "If this was co op, this flushing enemies out with grenades would open up a lot of good strategies". One helgast tried to hide from me in that L shaped room at the last part. I knew he was hiding because he had no where else to go (he was in the corner out of my view). So I threw a grenade in there, not right up on him but enough to harm him. He had no where to go but back out of the door towards me. Oh that was satisfying, especially with the comment he made. I think it was something along the lines of, "oh crap!".

To be honest, I think Guerrilla have been too conservative with the weapons design. I can see why they don't want plasma guns or laser rifles in their sci-fi game, but the game is set in the friggin year 2350, and by then it's fair to assume weapons would be a tad bit more advanced than those of, say, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter!

I love the feeling and everything, but I hope we get more sophisticated stuff in KZ3. Like this:

Perfect companion for cover mechanics! Albeit it would make things too easy :D

At first I thought it was a video camera that transformed into an assault rifle.

I'm sure its doable soon. Wanted has the pistol version of it. :D

Thanks the nice thing of the whole game. You can play it over and over again without it feeling "samey" (lol). In a sense, it's kinda like MGS as far as replayabilty goes.

Oh, and you'll love it much more on Veteran...
