I'm not gonna go looking through all the last couple hundred posts here, but I saw some talk about RGB Full settings on the PS3...

If you're playing this on a normal HDTV the PS3 should be set to Limited. If you're playing it on a computer monitor, set RGB to Full.

If this has been posted, please ignore me at will.
Yeah it's been posted. It seems a lot of people have the setting wrong on their TVs :-/

A silly observation, but if you stand by the exit of the warehose long enough ( where the demo ends ) a Helghast will come running up and try to kill you.

Everybody can have their opinion. When someone is so into CoD4 that it is hard for him/her to adapt to other control schemes, it's fine.
But then to say that GG has to change their controls and that the game is kind of broken is totally bull****.
There are so many reviews out and i dont remember a huge consistant bickering about "lag input" in them. And dont tell me they gave 9s and 10s only because of the fancy graphiczzzz.
They just played the whole game and adepted to the controls and had massive fun.

Some critize KZ2 for not doing something "new" and so on. But on the other hands it gets critizised for not beeing like their other favourite shooters.

What's the reason for this?

I purposely left my RGB settings at Full because the color of my XMB background (Killzone 2 Qore theme, red background) is a rich, vibrant red... but when I switch to Limited, the color dulls a bit.

Not really. The topic was a frickin' year old and it was constantly updated with the dojo stuff. Should probably have all been separate threads.

Does anyone else hate the buddy revive mechanic they got in this game as much as me? It just seems really cheaply done (is that a word?). Couldn't they have gone for a more GeoW2 style revive where you give your buddy a hand? Don't you guys think that would've been leaps and bounds better or is just me? :lol

The PS3 I'm currently using was set to full and forgotten about. Like other people I've seen in this thread, I had trouble seeing the Helghast triad in the brightness test.

I turned the RGB color to Limited (in the XMB. After all, it doesn't seem like my tv supports it). Now the Helghast triad is clearly visible in most of the brightness option span but the real surprise was the surprisingly heightened picture quality of the game. It's basically flawless now after this change.

I also turned off Super White or something to that effect. Anyone got more info on that one?

I actually would have liked it better if it was more like the multiplayer medic revive :-/

In singleplayer it's just a short zap without having to aim or anything. In multiplayer you have to actually aim for the person you want to heal.

AFAIK superwhite is pretty much useless on regular TVs, but I think it shouldn't screw up anything. I may be wrong tho.

Keep in mind the Smash Bros thread was from 05-22-2007 to 04-15-2008

Halo thread is from 09-05-2007 to Present

and the Killzone 2 thread is from 11-13-2008 to Present
The battle for second place will soon be over. Tides turning etc.

Just one thing about the weight of the guns, an AK47 is about eight pounds, the M4 is 6 pounds, a 30 rounds magazine is less than half a pound. If you try to move with something with a similar weight, like a guitar, you can notice the real life effect is quite the opposite that in KZ2, i can move with the "gun" at full speed almost immediately but there is a deceleration when you need to start rotating your body

Preview threads get a ton of views; news, previes, videos, reviews, etc. really attract the lurker. This thread has an unprecedented amount of hype and attention behind it which is definitely why it's gotten so many views but it's odd to compare gaint preview thread with final official threads. It'll be interesting to see if KZ2 can maintain this level of attention post-release. It'll really depend on how good the MP is and how well GG supports it with patches and DLC.

Killzone 2 doesn't have shitty enemy AI nor does it rely on cheap-as-shit, dated-as-fuck enemy spawns.

As much as I liked COD4's campaign I have to agree, sure there are some scripted events but the enemy AI and firefights in general are so much better in Killzone 2.

Did anyone notice that you can jump over those razor wires outside the warehouse in the demo? I was expecting some stupid invisible walls but there were none, so awesome.

But only a couple more thousand... I predict that KZ thread will surpass Halo3 thread in about 16 hrs
And the Smash Bros thread is split up into a couple of threads, so it's even bigger than it looks.

Halo thread was just 1,000 people refreshing and posting "OMG WHY IS THE BETA NOT UP?! I DEMAND REPARATIONS!"

Yeah, thank the heavens that Guerilla added a jump button. It was ridiculously stupid how you couldn't get over even the tiniest obstacle in KZ1 since you couldn't jump.

slo-mo video or it didn't happen
OK if you're being sarky fine. BUT I literally hit R1 and there's a shot as soon as I press it. I flick the analogue stick around and I get everything I need immediately. No lag (apart from the tiny tiny amount as is normal in games.)

Now I will try with sensitivity to full.

I will compare with the demo also.

That's funny, cause the beta was long gone by the time the tread was up. :lol

About the huge thread list, didn't halo 3 get "deleted" by an op at one point and had to be started again? I dunno if another admin brought the thread back but if not you can expect that halo 3 thread to be much bigger.

Australian Killzone2 bundle.
80gb,Killzone2 and DS3 Date : 26 feb
http://kotaku.com/5149230/australia-gets-killzone-2-console-bundle
Kotaku fails for not quoting the price after introducing with "<...> first official announcement that's rattled our mailbox. And it comes in the form of a release date and price for Australia." Why Kotaku has to fail like this, I do not know. Does anyone ever, really?

God, I think I've caught a cold.

I wasn't here at the time but I believe it was just a joke. The mods "lost" the official thread and 20k posts the day before the game came out. The thread eventually popped back up with everything in tact so nothing was lost.

Here's the temporary thread.

Um it would appear that the multiple thread title changes caused a flub in the database axing the original thread. So close to 20k posts too.
Oh no! Should we be fearing for this thread's life??

or was that part of the joke?

yeah, i was expecting that to.. thank god it worked.

Just wanting to jump in on the "non-scripted fps" talk,

I think that a game of that type would entail open ended levels and characters that reacted to lots of variables or moved somewhat randomly. So your games outdoor areas would have to be very large and not corridor based and indoor areas would have to be closer to real buildings.

You can have good enemy reactions in a game like the Killzone demo but it will still play like it is scripted because the locations are highly linear.

Oh shit...I thought it was the hype thread. Is this the official KZ thread? I can't tell anymore!

Anyway, it's meaningless. It's always 10 people posting a million times over and over. And if you're gonna count something, might as well count posts, not views.

Actually I completely ignored it and tried to jump it on the first try and I wasn't surprised or anything since it worked, haha :P

U can also run thru that door backwards and get pretty far. :)

Played the demo a couple of times now. What I found most thrilling was that no single run was the same. Even small things like throwing a grenade in a situation where you haven't thrown one in a previous run completely changes the firefight.
This is definitively one that's going into my collection.

Walking scripted paths isn't scripted?

Disclaimer: It's been a long ass time since I've played Far Cry.

Well of course there is scripting but not in the COD sense where everything is scripted. COD allies & enemies generally a) bob up and down behind crates / emplacements, b) charge head on c) have no free will at all, being 100% scripted. Even worse, the game relies on infinite spawning, hidden triggers and other tricks to mask the weak AI.

Far Cry relies more on a decision making AI and randomness. Mercs will behave differently depending on their alertness level, troop strength, your last known position, etc. The AI was still pretty stupid at times but at least it TRIED, relying on its own wits, and didn't cheat such as launching infinite waves of automatons at you.

Games like FEAR, Uncharted, Resistance and KZ2 adopt a hybrid approach, offering fairly linear experiences, but with smarter AI in it. There is some scripting going on, but the enemies are not complete morons and do try to flank, take cover etc.

IMO smart enemies makes the experience far more satisfying and fresh. I find the AI in COD to be very off-putting and antiquated. It's barely improved in the ten years the series has been running.
