Posting in a...thread with high ban count:lol

I really like the demo, the aiming approach reminds me of Uncharted!!!11!one! with the careful headshots, popping from cover, rushing lonely enemies to bash their heads in. And that´s AWESOME!

The demo made me buy the game, will pre-order soon, and I normally don´t even like FPS! Maybe it reminds me of RtCW, my online online-played shooter.

Riding the troop carrier is awesome, getting flanked by the Helghast and dying seconds after manning the gun not so much :D The head-asplode gun is also nice to have, but bolt-action would be even better.

The nail gun should rip people into bloody shreds on impact and it could double as a Warhammer 40k bolter it seems. Nice.

Edit: I have never, ever, heard about burn-in on a LCD, only Plasma and early rear-projection screens

Guys, if you have a Sony LCD tv, do you need to worry about burn in? In other words, can you game without worrying you'll damage the screen?

Dont worry it will only burn in your eyes and you will be all "Ahhhhh eyes burn from the awesome!"

aaaand.. it's a LCD.... burn in is mainly a plasma thingy...

My old samsung LCD tv has a burn in.... a more annoying burn in than Plasma as you can see the still picture when watching a movie or gaming.....I just don't want this to happen to my new tv

Oh and this burn in happened when I discovered WoW, never again

Tbh I really wouldn't worry about burnin on an LCD tv, not the newer ones anyway, usually that's an issue with Plasma's more than anything, just check in your TV menu if there is a 'gaming mode' and also turn off any motion enhancement settings as they tend to make games ghost/lag more.

Oh, didnt read that part. Sorry.
Anyway : My Bravia is awesome... my kitten scratched the screen tough :D

yeah, i know. some have it. but it's mostly a plasma problem..
But i was surprised a while ago to see the LCD type burn in. WoW is a game that you proabaly played for 8 hourts straight, for days :P

But since you van play this game without a hud.. there is no problem.

Well, if I put it on gaming mode the PQ gets alot worse, I want to play Killzone 2 as its meant to be played (graphics wise ofc)

So playing without HUD is the answer?

Gotcha! :D

yeah, and even the hud that;s there is just an ammo count that dissapears.. so.. no worries..
static images are the biggest danger (fuck you pixeljunk logo.. love your games though :P)

PiexelJunk games have an 'avoid burn in ' option or something like that.
(At least PJ Monsters has it)

McBacon with eggs, thanks for the answer! Another question my dear sire:

Do the battlefields later in the game become increasingly larger, or do they stay pretty small but tactical?

Online is where your massive battles are at.

yeah.... but it just makes the logo slightly less bright... it will help to hold of the burn in for a while longer.. but they should have removed the logo completely imo...

love how those Helghans sit with their back against cover and put their gun over their heads to blind fire.

shoot some rounds in the water, nice effect!

haven't thrown a grenade in yet.. wonder what that will do =)

So I just played the demo with no crosshair/HUD/Hints/Dialogue and it's actually pretty damn cool. I wish more games would have the option.

I think on release day I might play it like that.

Anyone else like it better with everything turned off?

Practically all of us has turned the HUD off. My only complaint is that subtitles flat out do not work if the HUD is turned off, even if subtitles is enabled in the options menu.

Wow, that's a pretty big and stupid oversight. Tempy, chop chop, fix it! :p

Also, let's say I wanna play the game without a HUD, but with the tips on (like the climbing part in the demo, and eventually also weapon pickup notes). Is it possible?

Any fairly new TV shouldn't have issues with burn in. The only way you get burn in on a Plasma is if you leave it with the same static image somewhere on the screen for 6+ hours without a break.

With an LCD you have almost nothing to worry about. If you're still freaked out though just shut the TV off when you take a bathroom break or something to let it have a breather, or like every system and game manual says take 15 minute breaks every couple hours.

Most TVs have game settings to help as well, and most good Plasmas have a IR wipe setting that runs bars across the screen to help cleanse any image retention. Just follow the suggestions on owning your TV from the manufacturer and you'll be fine.

I gots a 50" Pioneer Kuro by the way, gaming bliss. :D

Oh hold me GAF! The demo has finished downloading but my brother is using the PS3 to watch my MacGyver DVD's! :lol

Make a bomb with candy gum and sticks, and send your brother straight to the hell.

Hmm, I think I'll play the retail game with HUD off, but crosshair on. My biggest concern is missing weapons or circle-button prompts. The weapons on the floor glimmer a little bit, so hopefully I won't miss them as I run through the levels, and, as long as I think of circle as the action-button, I should be fine.

I agree, but it's kind of sad to have 'hated' someone on the internet. Especially when the ignore button functions properly. :lol

Speaking of that button....how come I haven't seen it around here anywhere?
You mean an ignore button that you can just click on to ignore someone instead of adding someone manualy to the ignore list?

How did someone get a retail copy of Killzone 2 so soon? Does the stores get Killzone 2 in stock about 2 weeks before the release date?

I will too.

Nah, without the crosshair, I will fail miserably. I'm not a fantastic FPS player at the best of times, and the controls will take a little bit of warming up to, even with the demo. So the training wheels are going to stay on, at least to start with. ;)

I think I might try it on Elite.

There has only been one other game in my life that I've even wanted to try it on the hardest difficulty.
Uncharted, Rawr
