Hysterical nonsense. The studio aren't interested in making Killzone games anymore. It's nothing to do with HHG, which has just become yet another of the games that people love to obsessively hate to a bizarre degree.

Killzone died because horizon sold much much more. The people spoke and they wanted horizon not killzone as much as some of us might not like it. I personally liked both horizon games but i would love a new killzone as well (at least remake the trilogy).

I'll never understand why so many people defended Guerilla's decision to abandon Killzone in favor of Horizon...

One of the greatest FPS franchises ever created replaced by some generic open world series , that peaked with the first game and has only gotten worse over time...

Remember the good old days when Playstation had a first party lineup that included Killzone, Resistance, Socom, Buzz, Infamous etc ? We had no idea how good we had it in the 2000s....

I think a lot of reasonable people will defend the independence of studios to make the games they want to make.

Crazy, crazy stuff.

Will you still defend it if all they currently produce is either mid or outright trash compared to what they used to make ?

I'll never understand the glazing of Killzone on GAF. Everywhere else it's recognized that the Killzone games were very mediocre and most of the FPS gamers of the era were too busy playing Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War to care about Killzone

Yes! It shouldn't be up to me what a studio decides to spend its time on. Obviously like any sane person I would hope they spend their time and effort making something I like.

I don't know under what circumstances you would expect me to say that no, actually they should just make what some people outside want them to make.

Do you understand the creative process? Or commercial interests? Or how you combine them?

More casuals were playing COD instead of Killzone therefore Killzone mid ? Do you also apply this logic to any other franchise that you love, that sells less than COD ?

I consider Killzone 2 a masterpiece. Having said that the last game was Shadow Fall and it was bad, Mercenary for Vita is way better btw.
So i'm not confident they still have what it takes to make "another" Killzone 2 anyway.

Guys guys, I really need you to get really impotently furious about Horizon Hunters Gathering everyday until it comes out!

Guys this is really important! Forget actually playing and enjoying games, join in me ranting like a lunatic about one game (that I haven't played) that I hate with the burning intensity of a thousand suns!

Doesn't that sound fun, guys? Don't you hate Horizon Hunters Gathering soooooooo much!?

Killzone 2 is one of the best fps games ever made, but I wonder if that was by chance as they could never reproduce it. Killzone 1 was a mediocre game, albeit as a cool concept that made the masterpiece sequel possible, but the third game was a downgrade compared to the second. And Shadow Fall was really meh, didn't even feel like a Killzone. But in any case, I would trade without a question all the Horizon games for a real Killzone 2 sequel.

Edit: the Vita game was also quite good as I remember

Killzone was never an amazing FPS, asides from graphics. But still a lot better than this slop Horizon Hunters Gathering.
FFS, even the name screams generic and low effort.

I mean Killzones weren't that good. They looked good but controlled like crap.
The Sony of that era was kind of obsessed with their graphics being the best and it really hurt a lot of games and studios which had so much potential

Killzone ran at 30 fps and had 500+ ms input lag like seriously?

Motorstorm was a racing franchise that ran at target 30 fps (often lower) and the studio went on to make the also 30 fps Driveclub and then the studio was closed

Heavenly Sword ran at target 30 fps (often 15-20 fps) and it was supposed to be a fast action game like God of War??

Killzone died because not enough people liked it and bought it. Simple as that.

I personally like KZ2 specificly, including the multi-player. But I am well aware it was a niche game that had a tiny market share of a very crowded market.

It's not mid because more people played other fps, it's mid because it plays mid with a mid story and even worse multiplayer.
Yeah I agree. I thought Killzone 2's multiplayer was fine, especially at the time. But I didn't take anything away from it that was beyond memorable. I honestly think I had more fun with Resistance, albeit I know it wasn't a Guerilla game, lol.

I genuinely think Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West are borefests.

Besides being pretty visually I can't think of a single other thing I liked in either game.

Meanwhile, I loved Killzone 2 and 3.

Heck, even that Killzone game on PS4, whatever it was called, was better than any Horizon game and that was ok at best.

I can shoot people in many games.

How many other games can I have diabetes and a peg leg while killing robot animals?

This is a once in a generation game and I am tired of consumers having opinions.

Why can't you just be excited for literally everything? Either post how much you want to play this or shut up. Sheesh.

Fucking toxic gamers can't even cheerlead everything like the good old days where they would all come together and the only arguments was who loved something more than the other.

Posted this in another thread, guess I get to repeat myself.

Between PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, and PSVita, all Killzone games combined sold a total of ~10 million copies.
That's half as much as Horizon Zero Dawn sold on PS4 alone.

The two best selling Killzone games, Killzone 2 and 3, combined couldn't reach 6 million copies sold on a platform of 87 million units sold lifetime.
It was a middling FPS that couldn't find a solid audience.
That's why Killzone died.

Edit: And with Microsoft putting Halo on PlayStation going forward, why would anyone want Killzone?

Killzone Mercenary on Vita ruled, don't @ me.

I don't think that Horizon GaaS thing has remotely the same target audience as Killzone had.

This Horizon game seems geared towards younger audiences (safe wokey pokey purple shit theehee) who can be psychologically enslaved into the time vampire mono-game "ecosystem" where they will be bombarded with in-game storefronts and constantly subtly manipulated into spending money continuously. I don't think much of people who build these "games", honestly. I think much less of people who greenlight them.

Killzone was just some cool shooter games.
