Kim Kardashian releases video of Kanye/Taylor Swift conversation about "Famous" lyric

I'm assuming asking about the L is more about how this will affect her career/down the line. Which it possibly wont apart from how her PR team decides to spin it into a positive. We can already see from this thread that die hard fans don't tend to care when their idol does something stupid/reprehensible. Damn well has lost some respect from her peers I'd imagine however

Well you blokes still like Kanye after TLOP so there's hope for everyone.

Nice to put words in my mouth, I never heard TLOP and I'm not a fan of Kanye's music tbh. I just find the drama entertaining and it's interesting psychologically speaking with regards to rabid unadulterated fandom.

How is having sex with someone mysoginistic? Calling her a bitch however and saying he (a man, though not much of one) made her (a women) famous is crossing the line.

but in the phone call shes ok with the(minus the word 'bitch') famous line. The only thing she has to go on is that he said 'bitch'. Everything else: saying they might still have sex, that he made her famous, was totally fine for her from that phone call conversation.

If we're talking quality of music at this point I don't have a single clue how anyone here could genuinely consider themselves a Taylor fan. It's all so vapid and fake.

I don't even consider myself a fan of pop but there's plenty of stuff better than Taylor. 😷

Yup and if 'bitch' is the point of contention then why does she dance/sing along to songs from Drake, Future, Kendrick, Kanye, etc. that use that term.

I mean, it's definitely even weirder that grown men have been idolizing her since before she was an adult.

Can't we all just take a deep breath and realize that every person involved in this *ahem* "controversy" is an awful, deluded human being that is only out to further their best interests?

You'll sleep better at night.

Kim proved in the video that Kanye spoke to Taylor about the song in a very friendly and polite conversation. The video disproves the first two sentences of the initial PR statement, and throws a lot of doubt on the third:

The video proves a contradiction in her statement.

So she was cautioning against the "bitch" lyric all along? Not the sex line? That means she knew about the bitch line, which is the only way she could caution against his misogynistic message. That contradicts her Instagram post AND the third sentence of the PR statement. That makes her even more of a liar! Careful what you say...

And her taking issue with Kanye claiming her fame contradicts what she said in the phone conversation:

"She was referring to the incident, not the lyric!" Then show me the video evidence where the incident alone, and not the lyric, became the topic of discussion in their conversation? The lyrics of the song were the topic of discussion. Even if they weren't talking about the lyrics, what she said in the video contradicts what she said at the Grammys... so which was the lie, the phone convo, or the speech? Either way... LIE!

I actually like Taylor's songs and I'm happy for her success, but come on... she lied...

What even is your point her? Does her dancing to a song condone the message of a song? Does that make all Kanye/Em/Drake fans guilty of condoning the message of a song if they like it? Because I think that logical process would make basically anyone who has ever enjoyed a controversial rap song a raging hypocrite.

Her beef is with being called a bitch together with the inference that the stage-crash incident in 2009 was the reason she became famous. Is that so hard to understand?

These Taylor fans are stuck on what Jon Stewart used to call Bullshit Mountain, it's amazing to watch them try and rationalize all of this.

Kim K is out to protect her loved ones. I guess you could call that furthering her best interests of you really wanted to.

Her music is fine, I like it better than Kayne's but I think he's just as overrated as her.

Really? She's out to fan the flames and get people talking about Kanye again.

If she wanted to "protect" anyone she should have released the video earlier. She held on to it to leverage it's impact. That's a calculated attention garnering move.

You can protect your love ones while also waiting for the perfect moment to do it. This way she makes a powerful point about what happens when you cross her family. She's a regular Tywin Lannister.

"I condone this until it's jokingly said about me" is the biggest hypocritical attitude one can have.

Way to go L Swift.

Kim and Kanye are playing shogi.

You're playing tic-tac-toe.

The only one seeking publicity out of all of this is Swift. This was just Kimye's response (albeit, planned at the perfect moment). We all knew the video would get released eventually.

Kim gave Taylor the opportunity to set the record straight herself when she publicly confirmed the existence of the video. It's not Kim's or Ye's fault that the Swift PR Team didn't take the olive branch that was handed to them.

You honestly think she wasn't trying to get attention? Wasn't this video released on Twitter to millions of followers?

Come on guys, this is Celebrity 101 right here.

But she was ok with that though

The fact that she listens to these songs shows that she understands the nature of the genre and type of language that is used. I don't see how the word caught her off guard and caused such a dramatic switch up on a 'friend' knowing this.

If she was that adamant about the usage of the word even in a scenario where she knew about everything else, then she wouldn't be seen dancing/singing along to songs like 'Jumpman' by Future on national television which uses it frequently. She's playing you. It's obviously a publicity stunt.

She's not creepy and doesn't record phone calls with unsuspecting industry peers. Like, you know, reasonable people.

Well, Taylor seems like the kind of person that would lie about this sort of thing and play the victim, a hunch that was proven right when she did exactly that. I'd say recording the call in this case was prudent rather than creepy. We don't know Taylor like they do, they probably know her as a dishonest and sneaky person, so I don't blame them for recording her.

That was part of the reason, but I 100% believe that she did it to back up her husband. She actually comes across as very "real" in that respect.

What about rapping along to a song in a commercial? And getting money for it.

Tbh, Kim gave Taylor a chance to come clean and if she did none of this would have happened
This is why she waited so long. She revealed they had video evidence and gave Taylor a lot of time to say anything on the matter and she only doubled down.

I think the video was released to coincide with a new season of her reality show? Smart timing if so.

Also, she released it on National Snake Day, and we all know Taylor is Draco Malfoy.

Basically yes. I mean with intelligently written hiphop a lot of these themes are brought up using characters and caricatures in order to put the point across, but yes if your summer jam is celebrating misogyny, violence, or whatever then you are condoning the message. Believe me, I've had to go through this with particular artists in the Reggae world and those artists have rightly been called on for their language and attitudes.

Really does just feel like the "bitch" part is her/PR moving the goalposts as it's about the only thing she can cling on to at this stage.

What's wrong with Em? And why are you so jelly of superior artists to Kanye? Is it because Tay, 13 years his junior, already has achieved more cultural impact, a bigger fanbase, more respect and lots more money? Does that grate?

Actually I don't want to know why you don't like Em. Awks.

It's discussions like these that we forget that Kanye was a world famous and accomplished producer before he ever picked up a Mic.

Eminem doesn't hold a candle on that front.

Oh wow, too perfect

Thank you.
He was talking about you pal

Yup. It's both a fair way to do it while also helping out with her show. But I guess she does have a reality show so she must be a terrible person.

Exactly.

Taylor fans or just music fans in general, do yourself a favor and listen to the true pop queen, Carly Rae Jepson. Emotion >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1989
