King Kong 360

Just finished it. The best singleplayer game I've tried for the console sofar(though note, I haven't tried Condemned yet).

I really love the idea of having no hud. Hopefully more games will try this. The voicework is amazing and it really sounds like you are there. When Jack(you) say something it sounds like you are saying it, whenever someone else speaks you can clearly detect the distance between you and direction. The breathing when you get tired is really well done(though my buddies thought it was abit funny).

Also, the enviroment in this game is brilliant.
It's a really good example of how good graphics can improve the experience(even if this was a multiplatform title, this port is excellent). Every stone looks slippery and wet, everything overgrown with weed and whatnot. And the nastiest bugs ever(though the lobsters are abit off). I freaking hate those millipedes.

I whish they spent some more time on the animation in the cutscenes and emotion though as apart from the amazing voicework, their faces look really stiff and overall movement can be abit jerky. Also, despite the dramatic ending of the story, the last part was over in a mere moment. I would like abit more involved ending.

Anyway, I highly recommend this game. Best movie tie in since Riddick.

Dice score is: 5 out of 6.

(Also, you get a ton of Gamerscore. 700-900 just for finishing the game.)

I got a 1000 points for finishing the game,

So far I was more impressed with Kong then any other 360 title i've played so far. Yes, western games can have good art.

The characters did stick out in comparision to the awesome enviroments though, and the last area:
WTF were they thinking, yeah I know thats how the movies ended, but still they could have kept it linear like the rest of the game, the city sequence frustrated me more then the entire game. Free roaming does not working with that camera system

what did you guys think of the demo build?

i ask, cause i fucking hated it. not sure how improved the final game is or if the demo is just poorly captures the awesomeness of the full game...

should i bother with it?

Totally agree here. I had no clue where to go or what to do until I bumped into the dead end where you meet Ann. Before that I tried climbing some random buildings and whatnot. Maybe the devs wanted us to feel lost just like Kong but it wasn't a good decision.

Btw, did you unlock the 250 000points/100% completion of the game bonus? I don't know what it is but supposedly it's really worth it. (Speaking of that. I had 0 points when I finished the game. Do I only get points replaying the levels?)

The demo is pretty spot on. The whole game is awesome. Immersion is the word.
(Though, I didn't find a gun in the demo. Making the T-rex fight close to hopeless.)

And before anyone ask, I prefer the FPS parts over the Kong parts though I think one particular Kong battle amazed me the most.

I have not replayed it yet to get any points
You get points by replaying the levels

I rented the Xbox version and found it to be excellent, and will definitely get the Xbox 360 version for the permanent collection sometime in the future.

Sound effects and voice acting are phenomenal, and graphics are as top-notch as advertised.

Loved the clean nature of the gameplay screen, and at times the game actually felt real, like you were in really trying to escape dinosaur hell with Naomi Watts and/or Jack Black helping out. Though something still remains very funny watching AI Jack Black chucking spears at raptors... :lol

Only problem I consider worth mentioning here is the post-game scoring system, and that is something most won't care about. It is wonderful that they have the stages set apart and with individually tracked scoring and parameters. Like-minded gamers will replay stages as I did seeking best scores, adding a decent bit of value beyond the 6-hour initial non-score runthrough. So then, the problem? The AI in its wonderful unpredictabilty can make going for high scores frustrating. One level in particular had this one character that would sometimes stay under cover but other times run right into dinosaur mouths. And since every injury to any character costs points...

Otherwise, a definite must-play game if not a must-buy at full price.

yes, i loved the game (played the xbox version).

the no HUD approach rocks, and I like how you hear angels singing when you are in mortal danger of imminent death :P

I am playing it now on my 360.

i played the 360 Demo and thought on the kiosk it looked better then all the other demo games.

now at home on my 61 inch rear projection TV it looks good but no longer seems to outshine everything else like it did on an HDTV.

Game glitched on me twice -- it was annoying but not gameplay destroying.

I found the whole lighting of torches and burning bushes aspect to be incredibly tedious and boring. It's a good game but I still consider it to be somewhat mediocre.

Definitely an ideal rental but not worht the purchase at all. I really have no intention of ever playing it again.
