Knights of the Old Republic 2 coming to switch June 8th

Wait, hold up, Restored content DLC? Did they get the restored content mod on the switch?

The last switch port of kotor was kind of mediocre, ran at 40-50 fps and had a giant text box that said you are in combat. Also all the textures were improperly up-scaled.

Disney right now after all these SW announcements

I wonder if it's better than the iOS version? I have the first KOTOR on iOS that I play when I'm on the plane. Don't have a portable version of KOTOR 2 yet.

Gee whiz, it's like a few people own this system and want to buy games to play on it! This experiment has potential!

Meanwhile, EA and Actblizz:

KOTOR: When BioWare was still highly regarded for their games.
KOTOR2: Marked Obsidian's name upon the map of good RPG developers.

I'd buy it again. I am always afraid of crashes on iOS.

Can't wait for the absurdly overpriced collector's edition from Limited Run Games!

(That I will immediately buy because I am an absolute sucker)

I don't think Activisison Blizzard has been too bad. They've not brought over Call of Duty but most over things have come to Switch.

I've never played kotor, do I need to play kotor 1 to enjoy kotor 2?
Nope :)

Never played Kotor1 myself beyond the first three hours and really enjoying Kotor 2.

Has also very different vibes in regard of game's premise and story opening and you see Obsidians's handwriting in this.

Kotor 1 if you want a conventional Star Wars experience, Kotor 2 for unconventional SW story. Both are good, though, just different. (gameplay is the same though).

Have a pair of 6 hour airplane rides coming up and lucked into first class tickets. Thinking I'll play either this or Fantasion while dropping an edible before flying and drinking Jack daniels the entire time. It's going to be awesome…. and then I land in Vegas.

I played through it 6 months ago on Xbox with enhancements. Seemed a lot more basic than I remembered but was still pretty fun.

I almost pulled the trigger on the first one, but i figured a dual pack would be released later, so I skipped it. Nothing worse than buying a Limited Run Game that comes to retail later as a dual pack and drops to $20 dollars.

The console can't run the games they made 10 years ago for the xbox one right.
An apologist for brain-dead developers that can't seem to be able to produce one Madden or CoD for a system that's going to end up looking down on all other systems. Meanwhile, Actiblizz is being purchased and EA is looking for a buyer.

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is now released on Nintendo's Switch, a classic from its time that managed to capture and extend the Star Wars universe. KOTR 2 on Switch offers increased resolution, frame-rates and loading over the original Xbox release. Here we dive into the technicalities of the port and if it manages to improve on its origins.

This port is not good. Reduced particles, static images instead of moving ones for holograms. The audio gets slown down to match the animations and the voices go really deep. AI sharpened textures that are often worse at times.

Kotor 2 might be my favourite western rpg, but this port is a pass from me.

How do you fuck up an Xbox port? I thought initially that the brightness/gamma on captures was fucked up, but apparently they managed to make Xbox gen lighting worse?

Was it an intern doing the port or something?

It's the same on PC sans "AI"-upscaled textures. Xbox consoles (up to Series S/X, I think it's fixed now) had a darker gamma curve than other platforms. If a game was designed with Xbox in mind it would appear "washed out" on Playstation or PC.

In docked mode lowering the TV's gamma setting should help, besides lowering the ingame brightness. PC version of course has mods and shaders.

I hope everyone's still super optimistic about that remake lol.

It's just Aspyr. They botched another Star Wars Switch port iirc. Forget which one.
Aye, it just pisses me right off, I couldnt wait to get stuck in! Do you know what they're like patching their stuff?

Can it even be patched properly? :messenger_neutral:

The title, which was released for Nintendo's console on June 8, includes a game-breaking crash that occurs after the Basilisk Crash cutscene when landing on Onderon.

Aspyr was asked about the issue, which is scheduled to be addressed in an upcoming patch, by a frustrated Twitter user called Daniel Moore.

They messaged Aspyr asking if it was aware that the game can't be completed in its current state.

"Hi, this is a known issue that will be addressed in the next patch," came the official response. "While we cannot provide an ETA at this time, we will definitely let you know when the patch is live."

Moore responded by saying they were one of the users who originally reported the problem before it was acknowledged as a known issue, before adding: "Just to be clear you're aware that there is no way to complete this game currently?"

To which Aspyr replied: "Yes, we are aware and our dev team is working on delivering the patch as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience in the meantime!"

And they put it out anyway

What a bunch of cunts, and Nintendo didnt mind either. The state of gaming now is just a complete joke, like everything else.
