Kojima "happy" with Death Stranding 2 reception, spurring fans to "fight and battle" against war and climate change

I love it, it is always rich people, who have a way higher co2 foot print than me preaching this climate nonsense. If you want to save the planet Kojima move to a cave, sit around the campfire singing kumbaya my lord and don't bother me with your nonsense.

Fuck Kojima I'm glad I didn't buy Death Stranding 2.

Spoken like someone who has never played the games or didn't try to understand them at least.
The man doesn't even try to be subtle about it :messenger_mr_smith_who_are_you_going_to_call:

I do agree about climate change and lack of self-awareness to a degree though. He's constantly travelling and hanging around with celebrities, in a single year him and his buddies probably have a higher footprint than this whole forum joined together.

...Are there really people here who didn't understand the point of MGS games?

it seems like the phrase climate change is like the open sesame for the mental asylum.

every time it's said, all the mental patients crawl out of the woodwork

Oh God, he cant get more pretentious.

The thing about the "climate change" is that 95% of people dont know what they fuck it even is, and i dont think Kojima belongs to the 5% that knows. There is so much false information, exaggerations, misunderstandings, etc; that people push because it gets them internet points.

Dude, common. His games are about war, they glorify war and killing. Big Boss is a highly questionable character from a moral standpoint. In MGS5 you're basically a killing war machine and mercenary who does war crime type jobs for hire. The bad guys in Kojima games are presented as cool, they are loved by many. It's all a glorification of violence, war and bad guys who can be likable and cool. You're literally playing a war criminal in some MGS gsmes, lol. I mean, like seriously.

did Kojima fly a boeing into your mom ?

I should spend time and play death strange 1, honestly a whole face scan Hollywood celebrities and make them a video game character doesn't really impress me much, as these celeb used to look down on gamer in the past

yes, the famously pro-war, pro-nuclear weapons video game series metal gear

When I get up from wasting electricity playing games on my plastic box which was made in the most polluting country in the world and then shipped across the globe, to open the door to receive my hyper processed meal someone brought over using a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, and then I proceed to drink my chemically flavored sugary drink........with a paper straw

Awesome….. but,,,at the end of the day, just tell me you're not banging a fat old gross herculean maid

Can anyone tell me how Kojima gets around the globe to make deals and promote his games? I'm thinking surely he is using a teleportation device powered by imagination, but I've been known to be wrong.

Nice try. It's a series about glorifying war, killing, being a mercenary, committing war crimes, glorifying bad guys and making them cool. You can't pretend it ain't all those things, but I wouldn't expect anything else from Kojima fan club that can be as pretentious as the man himself.

Of course there's more to MGS and it's also a series that has a core message that war is bad, but that's all mute given the fact how self contradictory it is with you playing a cool dude who is a brute warmonger and a war criminal.

I think it can also be argued the games don't really contrast between "good" and "bad" people that much. It's all shades of gray imo, Venom Snake can be saving animals in one moment and employing child soldiers in another so I do understand if some people don't like the antithetical tone of it.

With that said literally every MGS game has mechanics to discourage players from killing enemies, Death Stranding went even further and straight up turns people into literal nukes if you kill them and then makes you run errands to not let said nukes go off.
I can't argue with Kojima games being pretentious as hell and making bad guys look cool, but glorifying them? Really?

I love the Big Boss character for example because of how insane his story is but not once did I think he was a good guy or anything of the sorts. Kojima does humanized them, obviously, how else would people even enjoy playing such stories with such characters? But playing those games and concluding that bad people are gloryfied sounds a little bizarre to me tbh.

There cannot be any shades of grey when said characters are committing war crimes and are killing people for money as their job. I get what MGS series core message is, but trying to argue that it's an anit war fiction is like trying to argue that GTA series is not about living life of a scumbag criminal. Just because Kojima throws a bunch of philosophical tripe at you doesn't mean one should ignore the obvious.

It's actually the opposite of what you're stating.
Every Metal Gear Solid game widely criticises war. Just like Gundam series and many other japanese pieces of art.
Japanese authors have been heavily influenced by the end of World War II, as you may know... and the amount of anti war art they create is huge.

Dude, you literally play a war criminal in Big Boss and/or fake Big Boss. The whole of MGS5 is about building a mercenary army to do killing for hire, all the while you commit war crimes along the way. It's a series about war being bad as much as GTA is about being an upstanding citizen. It isn't about good or bad, it's about good and bad with player being able to play both sides throughout the series.

I understand Kojima is trying to say war is bad in grand scheme of things, but that message just doesn't land when much of the experience is about being a cool bad guy doing war criminal type things. The core message just doesn't align with the experience. It's contradictory, but Kojima is too high up on his own gas to see it.

My favorite part of when the elite-class, celebrity types lecture us, you can tell they live in such an echo chamber; it's going to be a dark future! Like, everything happening is bad and everyone just objectively agrees…

For real though, I always thought Metal Gear had some of the best gaming anti-war messages around. Never felt the same about Death Stranding though.

True.

I feel the thing about the climate is more subtle then the war message in MGS series. I thought about it in Death Stranding and even felt maybe that was what he was going for based on the whole rain and crazy weather thing, but its cool to see hi confirming it with DS2

I'm ok with it being a subtle thing.

So, I guess DS2 doesn't feature a Pro patch, so they don't promote mid-gen console upgrades.

Right?
That might be something they patch later down the road.

Yeah, battle or rather protest. Just like against the Iraq war in 2003 when politicians looked on at those massive protests and went lol no.
Well to be clear, I don't think he is implying his game will stop it or something, merely his stance on it.

I think many are seeking an absolute in this that was never stated by him.

edit. oh yea, I forgot about that Ryan Karazija artist passing away, the music in the first game was so great, it help really make that game. I'm happy to hear they have a track by him in DS2 (likely some unreleased stuff from DS1)

Have you never played Metal Gear Solid?

Next you gonna say Scarface is the heroic tale of Tony Montana.

I like how the whole thread is teaching this man about the actual real plot of MGS series lol

I'm surprised anyone doesn't already know this. Maybe they just assumed and actually never played the series. Thats the only thing that can really explain that.

"When I was creating Death Stranding 2, I wanted to contact him [Ryan - Low Roar] and there was Covid so he couldn't come to Japan to perform so I was trying to write an email," explained Kojima. "But then I got this sad message that Ryan passed away and that was so tragic when I first heard that. I also heard from his relatives that he does have some new songs and I decided to put in his new songs in Death Stranding 2.

"So I think he's watching us somewhere. In Death Stranding 2 there's this line 'death is not the end, it does not separate us'. I still feel connection with Ryan so I'm going to cherish this relationship with Ryan. And I hope everyone will feel that way too."

lol what is the hate against a man saying sensible things, look after the planet and stop killing each other are messages we should all get behind my hippies. Kojima has clearly been taking the lysergic.

Yes I have. I've played a game where I'm a mercenary gun for hire with his own army committing war crimes. Not sure what it is that you played, unless you think playing as mercenary war criminal is supposed to send anti war message of course.

Kojima still thinks the pandemic was a natural event? It's pretty settled that it was man made. Also fighting against climate change is the dumbest thing I heard in a long time. It's like fighting against ageing. It will happen no matter how much artificial stuff you put in. We can better adapt to climate change and take better care of our environment at the same time but hey that doesn't sound so frightening and people are very susceptible to fear.

The fact that Kojima fan club can't even see such obvious irony just tells you how deluded they are. This is a man who lives luxurious life and has a massive carbon footprint and yet acts like he is here to save the environment, lol.

It's not only his fault tho. The whole climate change movement is full of hypocrisy and followed by oftwn almost cultish people.

The entire climate change "movement" is fundamentally an illusion, it's a falsehood told by people who fly around in private jets to attend $50 million private weddings to the poor people to keep them under control

The entire world could bring their own reusable bags to the grocery store instead of getting disposable ones (paper or plastic doesn't matter) there for a whole year and still not emit as much carbon as Taylor Swift does when she flies around on her multi-billion dollar concert tour

Pretty much. It's ridiculous that people are missing what is happening in front of their eyes. I know people whom are afraid to talk about their holiday trip because they are ashamed that they go by plane. They are being told they shouldn't fly by people who have their own private jets. But they are brave enough to attack me because I point out the hypocrisy and that is like blasphemy to them. Like I said; it's almost a cult

I have a message for mankind: if you want to do war, at least make it good so that it will make a good call of duty campaign.

whoever wrote hitler to shot himself during WW2 ending should be fired and very anticlimatic. would be sick if we have an actual final battle against the big bad boss in a sniper battle or something
