Kojima Signing Pics

nice. i was halfway considering going to see kojima, but the prospect of a line and the fact that i'd probably end up going alone put me off. i don't have anything cool for him to sign either. :/

snake needs to lay off the calorie mate. :/ :/ :/

WTF, you live in LA now? @_o

my host couldn't handle it or something, who knows. put them back up though.

I would (because I have other MGS stuff I'd like signed), but my car is really, REALLY low on gas and I have 4 bucks.

well, what if i pull some money out of my ass? im sure i can sell some DVDs or something.

if you're really down, please PM me your number. i really really really want to get a decent pic with the guy. you can totally tell he appreciated the music, and like, even posed for the picture and everything, it was those damn gamespot managers that ruined it. what a shame too, you'd think atleast the first guy in line would've gotten a pic.

And one guy offered him oranges, too (which he didn't eat, but the GS employees did and enjoyed).

:lol :lol

I totally thought of that Seinfeld episode where they took the Japanese tv manager a bunch of oranges, lmao.

Ack. I'm sorry. I saw this response too late. If it was 5:00, I'd've been able to go, but my dad took my car to someplace he was going.

I live in Glendora. A trip to Glendale would have been at least 30 minutes. Then there's the travel to Universal and parking that would have probably been an hour on top of that. I'm really sorry, I would have loved to have gone.

Just got back from the Universal City signing. At the time of the signing around 6:30pm, there must have been over 300+ people. The line kept growing and was wrapping around the restaurants. I was about the 80th-100th person in line and they limited the signing to only one item(damn!). So I had Kojima and Shinkawa sign my ol' Metal Gear Solid cover insert for the psone. I had my MGS2 Substance, MGS3, ZoE2, and even my old Next Generation issue with Meryl on the cover but couldn't get them signed. Oh well, got the MGS3 poster along with my signed MGS1 game.

Standing in line next to some college and high school kids, they also had a Konami Rep with a camcorder ask a few questions to the individuals in the crowd. Like what was your favorite MGS game and did you enjoy MGS3... the high school kids yelled out "MGS3 IS THE BEST!... TWIN SNAKES SUCKS!" :lol Drinky Crow would have been proud...

Got to talk to some of the college people in line and all where pretty cool and most brought out anything MGS to get signed. Ranging from MGS1, MGS2, MGS2 Substance, MGS3, ZoE 2, MGS2 figures sealed, and even someone brought the old NES Metal Gear Box to get signed. The guy next to me had the Special Edtion JPN Metal Gear Solid 2 package that he brought to get signed. Overall, worth the drive but freezing outside!

Any signs of the Dolphinator?

He was there.

For you guys who went there, what about shinkawa? Did any of you talk to him? I would have loved to get my art of MGS2 book signed and see if I could chat with him.

You're so lucky! :D

Defensor, I got home at 8:30 from the City Walk. I think I was 80-100th person as well. I got there earlier than expected. They both signed my MGS3 cover, and my mom was with me as well, so she grabbed a poster and got that signed. I got a poster too. I took about four pics of Kojima and Shinkawa. In the fourth one, Kojima is waving to me. I got a picture of the Snake model as well. The odd thing was though, is that there was a Konami rep. walking around with a higher model Sony camcorder, and he walks up to me, and asks me to pose for the Camera, so I hold up my LE MGS 3 Guide, and my MGS 2 guide, and smile for the camera. Then, as the camera continues to roll, he asks me what I liked the most about MGS 3. I told him that I loved the cinematic feel that Kojima incorporated into the game, and that CQC was an excellent gameplay mechanic. If they make a Document of MGS 3, I really hope they put that in there. I would post pics, but I don't have a digital camera. I bought one of those throw away Kodak cameras.

LMFAO, thats the guy from the DS launching pics from IGN HAHAHA

Wow Johnny, you got your DS signed by Kojima. I was going to do that, but it would become unplayable seeing as how I wouldn't want to ruin his beautiful signature. Do you plan on buying a new one?

hey johnny did kojima get to sign my MGS3? I'll give you a call tomorrow and row by your pad. Thanks dude!

you're fuckin right man. my DS is cursed now man. i'd never leave home with out it, and now i can't put it in my pockets cause i don't want to risk rubbing it off way the fuck down the line. im gonna get some kind of protective plastic for it or something. but yeah, i don't like always have it out in the open now when i have it on me. gonna have to try to get another one next shipment. cause for some reason, the signiture on the DS looks a lot cooler in person for some reason.

sorry dude. check your phone messages.

I was near the front of the line, well near the front of the first breakoff point in the line. There were a number of prizes being given out to those that came early, 2 limited edition strategy guides, 2 regular strategy guides, 4 or 5 MGS3 t-shirts, 3 MGS3 posters (it was different from the one given out to everyone that came), and 3 $50 gift certificates. I didn't win anything :(. We were all given a poster and the choice of one item to have signed (I got my copy of MGS3 signed). The poster is freaking sweet. I also spotted two cosplayers, one being the same guy from above, and some kid dressed like Neo (on second thought, maybe he wasn't cosplaying). I'll try and post the few pics that I took tommorrow.

Like what was your favorite MGS game and did you enjoy MGS3... the high school kids yelled out "MGS3 IS THE BEST!... TWIN SNAKES SUCKS!"

Ha. There were a number of people in line next to me talking about how much they thought Twin Snakes sucked.

I love reading people's accounts of meeting famous game designers. Lord knows when I met Miyamoto I was nervous as hell (it was my first assignment for Nick Mag after all, and what a first one it was). It practically felt like a first date.

Damn why doesn't anything like this ever happen in Holland.
Oh i know just because were this tiny ass country that nobody gives a f*ck about.

DAMN YOU WORLD!

Oh well, might just have to go to the states for a loooong period of time.

I remember Shigeru Miyamoto being in Europe for some huge signing thing about two years ago. The universe balances itself out, I guess.

i remember reading about that. from what i remember, brittney spears was at the same virgin megastore a week before for autographs, and more people actually showed up for Miyamoto's signing.

There is justice in this world.

Anyway, that is the fucking coolest shit ever, Nighttrain. I was actually going to ask you if that was you in the IGN DS article too, because it was just so perfect.

Why a dumpy Gamestop/EB in LA? Should have been the SF Metreon. The two things I would want them to sign is a corporate edition of MGS1 & MGS2.

it's all about location i guess. the Glendale Galleria is like one of, if not the biggest mall in Los Angeles. when i say Los Angeles, i mean like, cities that matter. and Citywalk is just like, always packed with people up the ass, and is also some super shoping center thing.

That was my problem with having him sign my DS. It would have been awesome, and I would have bought a display case for it, and placed it in my room, but I thought it was more fitting to have him sign my copy of MGS 3, and the poster. I managed to nab two posters, and as I type, I am having two custom frames made up for them. Oh, and what was the Joy Division Set you gave Kojima-san?
