Konami's DRUM MANIA: drumstick recommendations wanted

I've owned Drum Mania since it first came out for the PS2, and at one point, I entertained the idea of getting the whole Yamaha drum kit + MIDI adapter setup, but I never did.

So, I have the official Konami one, which is pretty much a POS. However, the "drumsticks" it comes with are even more piss-poor, and was wondering if anyone here have bought real drumsticks to use with the Konami drumpad? If so, can you recommend me some decent brands/models?

I don't need the best... just something with a good feel and weight that will improve the overall feel of the game. I've been getting back into it lately, but the stock drumsticks just don't cut it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can do this? So the setup would be pretty much just like the arcade? Geez, how much would that cost?

Vic Firth 5B. I like the feel of the Matt Cameron sig sticks too.
Would the wood tips on these be fine for the Konami pads, or would nylon tips be better? Thanks!

When I was looking, it was about a grand (this was a few years ago, and it was for new equipment). It's not cheap, but it's the closest you can get to the arcade experience without having to shell out several thousand for a real arcade machine.

There are tutorials on this on the various Bemani forums, but here's the Engrished official Konami page on the subject... (link)

Without seeing them in person and going from memory, the pads are pretty similar to those on most electronic kits. I don't see any reason that wood tips would do any harm.

I dunno, I use real sticks in the arcade, but the plastic ones are better suited to the tiny home controller. I can't imagine it'd work very well to beat the shit out of it with full-length, full-weight wood sticks, especially considering that you'd have to put the kit way out in front of you to compensate for the stick length.

They're not even close. Most electronic kits use a heavy rubber or fiber-mesh type coating, while the DM controller is just small flat plastic discs.

I hear ya... it has more to do with the virtually nonexistent weight of the stock sticks that come with the controller... makes me feel like I'm drumming with chopsticks or something. :)
