KORE (Wii exclusive) New Trailer (gameplay)

Not actually that important
Well, it seems developer SnapDragon Games is doing a good job with a nice platformer/action mix.
Reminds me a bit of the action levels in Sonic Adventure 2 only, you know, fun and polished.

From what was a previously canned X-Box project, this Wii game already sparks polish and production values (just watch the voice acting trailer) usually lacking in 3d parties Wii games.

ZOINK Games and SnapDragon Games have announced the development of KORE, an original platforming game based on the premise of three different characters stuck inside a robotic suit that enhances their abilities.

KORE has a bit of history, having originally been in development for release on the Xbox under the name The Kore Gang. With the game's developer going out of business the project was taken back to the drawing board. In 2007 ZOINK partnered with developer SnapDragon Games to bring the game to Wii. This process saw the game redesigned, with many new features added, plus a visual overhaul.

KORE sees players taking control of Pixie, Madboy and Rex as they explore a magical and whimsical world to fight back the Krank brothers who are attacking the centre of the Earth.

"KORE stands out not only for its rich gameplay experience and signature art style, but also for its wacky scenario and sense of humour," said Klaus Lyngeled, Creative Director at Zoink. "During the last years, a vast amount of work has gone into the design as well as into the story and cinematics, and I am sure the audience will appreciate the way we poured our heartblood into it."

ZOINK is currently looking for partners to publish the game worldwide.

really? the platforming looked kinda boring. i don't see how this is more polished and fun than sonic adventure 2.

I hate the aesthetics of the game (especially the main characters). However, the graphics are above average, compared to the majority of Wii games, and it doesn't seems like there's some effort put in it. Not a piece of shovelware.

I find it weird that they'd do a voice acting trailer though.

The gameplay? Still too early to call, but it looks a bit too action-oriented for my taste.

I've said the action levels though, just those (you know, where you are on board that mecha thingie, dunno the name:).

This game will sell a lot in Japan. Mom asks: "What game do you want?" Son replies: "This." (=Kore) "No,that's not Kore, this one is, there you go."

The environments looked sweet, especially the halloween one, but as usual, I hate the main characters. They look like something out of a bad Saturday morning cartoon.

*translator's note : Kore means "this" in Japanese

I honestly don't know what to think.
The trailers left an overall positive impression, but I am not sure how I'm feeling about the art, truth be told. I do know, however, that the green guy breaking out into a short sing-and-dance jig at the end of the voiceover trailer was seriously pushing it. Bleargh.

Could be a great game though. I need more videos and screenshots to really judge. At the very least it'll be a solid game from what I've seen so far, and that somehow instills confidence.

Looks like its a well-done mashup of all the well known 3D platformers, doesn't seem to be doing anything new or interesting though.

Looks pretty good actually. Nothing earth-shattering but it seems pretty polished and everything. Could be a fun game, at least Wii is getting quite a good selection of platformers in the pipe-line (Mushroom Men, Wario Land Shake Dimension, this game, MegaMan 9, LostWinds 2)

Some of the environments looked quite nice. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the character designs. Gameplay looks OK so far. Like Bionic Commando meets the recent Crash Bandicoot games.

Obviously not SMG level, but certainly looks Ratchet and Clank (PS2/PS3) and Jak and Daxter (PS2) quality, in terms of gameplay, so seems to be maybe worth at least a single playthrough if you're a 3D platforming fan, even if you just want to see how wrong they get it.

Definitely considering at least a rent, possible buy, depending on how I feel when I get to play it.

This was originally an Xbox title that was canned then resurrected for the Wii, wasn't it? The art kind of has that "kooky-cartoony" style that a lot of developers of family friendly games were aiming for during the first half of the Xbox's lifespan.

Also reminds me of that Xbox platformer where you played the Voodoo doll. What was it called again? Voodoo-something... Voodoo Vince! That's it.

Saw the new gameplay trailer on IGN a day or two ago, and it looks janky as fuck.
Something about the combat and platforming makes it look like an early-ish 3D platformer to me.

well, maybe the developers see all these complaints aimed towards the main characters design and decide to change it... I mean, if you can steer a car which is about to crash you'de be an idiot NOT to do it, right?
:fingers crossed:

interest +1... is this a 2008 release? atleast they picked the right platform where it has a chance instead of sending it to die... but they still have a good opportunity to fuck it up, will it get any real marketing?

A 3D platformer! I usually don't like those unless they have Mario on the title. It seems quirky enough though, and the music for some reason reminds me of Sakimoto. I'll be on the lookout for this title.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again: this looks right up my alley and I'm quite excited for it. Do the characters look strange? Definitely. Does it look pretty bizarre? Oh yeah. I love it.

And that voice acting clip was hilarious. That giant robot asking for the metal bananas...I don't know why but it had be cracking up. (watched again..."You need....3 metal bananas to go...to the prison??" hahahahaha)

Snap Dragon Games has delivered us a ton of screens and arts. I won't put them all here 'cause there is a lot but here are some of them.

Looks decent for now.

Many more there

loving the art. just don't screw it up, SnapDragon, and you've got youselves a buy.

I too must vote + on art style, and all round GFX niceness, some of the screens are a bit bullshotty, post processed AA and the likes but overall, i'm liking the look of it.

Is the Wii's library so poor that people are actually excited for this game?

Because i'm pretty sure there's a reason it was cancelled. Just like there was a good reason publishers kept dropping Malice, it was a piece of poo.

WOW! I can't believe this game still lives. It seems like ages ago when I watched the first preview video of this game. Holy massive development time Batman.

Wii version looks worse (graphically) than the original Xbox build. :X
Most of the media present is from the XBOX build, so I am interested to see which specific one you are talking about.

Everyone's making random comparisons and saying "This game will be awesome" or "This game will be awful".

Does no one think it looks Tim Burtonesque? o_O
