Kotick: Sony, MS, EA will 'struggle' to challenge us in future.

Kotick: Aren't I brilliant I totally figured out how to master the online space... by buying a company who figured it out. I totally master the First Person Shooter, by owning a company that mastered the First Person Shooter. I'm such a business genius, and soon I will rule the world. And all the peons will throw their money at me, and I will pee on them further cementing their status as peons! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Wait... is this thing on? Shit. PR peon! Fix it!

In the console space MS is charging $59.99 for what everybody is giving away for free (I'm leaving bullet points and comparisons out of this).

They also topped 1 billion dollars last year with Live.

I'd say they are pretty much THE console experts dealing with online.

Live is also forcing Sony to play catch up with PSN+ and Bobby himself has talked about how he wants a piece of that delicious Live pie.

If anybody was going to be considered an expert in the online area when it comes to consoles, I would say it would be MS and Steam would be the defacto on the PC.

True. But see your caveat is the console space. MS was foolish enough to miss out on the profits valve is enjoying with Steam. Huge loss when you consider how little overhead steam has.

Generally speaking, if your argument could also be used to defend child slavery, it's probably a specious one. And no, I'm not comparing his making harmless remarks that upset GAF to child slavery.

Yes, MS is really struggling with how to make money online. Good job Bobby.

In before

CoD Online
Tony Hawk Online
Guitar Hero Online

$14.99/month failures.

Just wait for COD Online and Bungie MMO. It will be a success, just look at how well COD: WaW and MW2 DLC sold.

a) why do people keep posting this stuff?
b) why do people keep buying his games?

Because they like them. People like those games, they talk about them on the watercooler, they play them online. The world is not neogaf, bro.

Over here it would amount to actual bodily harm contrary to s47 Offences against the Person Act 1861. Unless, of course, you could convincingly show that it was for his own good. Might be an angle there.

I genuinely feel that we could prove that.

But you are comparing the two, a lot of good arguments can be bogged down by idiots who make tasteless comparisons

Friend or Foe/Web of Shadows/Shattered Dimensions

Looks like he is milking those balls my friend. And not in the good way.

Well, to engage more properly and respectfully, it's because he takes actions that directly hurt the hobby that I think we can safely assume most GAF posters are pretty passionate about.

This guy has let a few succeses go wwaaaaaaayy too much to his head :lol :lol :lol Kotick, Activision is gonna fall from #1 eventually.

Well, he always seems to get a new thread on here every time he says something dumb anyway.

So mission successful I guess?

Activision destroys all their big IP's. Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, they are in the process of fucking with CoD. What kind of future is that?
The Future of new IPs? I'm all for it! Especially if those old IPs take Kotick with them.

doesn't seem to me that Microsoft's vision was anywhere near as robust as Valve's. if it was and all they produced was the Live PC iteration that we laugh at today...they failed.

Question is at what cost?

Besides Blur, what have they have brought out that can be called innovative or a creative risk?

This is creative industry and monotony isn't the order of the day. Activision is all about pumping out sequels right now.

Oh well can we blame him? No because we put the company up there. And some people will pay for what he will propose in future making it obvious that money and sense don't go together and some are willing to take the abuse up their asses without question.

Two of those three were fucking awesome.

Eh... I felt that way about the Star Wars prequel trilogy... because i am a non-objective fan of teh Star Wars.

a)Because when Kotick talks shit it's pretty funny.
b)Because some of them are pretty damn good.

I wish Bobby would switch from Activision to one of these Facebook crap "games". This is why the games he publishes are not hardcore because he's too busy looking at A) what's going to bring more money (not customers.... money) and B) checking out the most basic of casual schemes.

Bobby, I heard that hitting the monkey provides lots of cash flow. You should turn all of your future titles into banner ads.

Without Blizzard and Battle.net the online presence of Activision wouldn't be much different than any other 3rd party publisher.

Yeah, you're definitely right. I am actually surprised that MS tried to penetrate the PC market with the GFWL strategy (if you could call it a strategy) when they already had such a good foothold on PCs to begin with with Windows ... they really, and I mean REALLY missed an opportunity there. Imagine if MS started something like Steam where it was free but games were paid for?

Then again, I'd rather have a company like Valve running the show then MS :lol

Heh, incoming Bobby's Bonzai Buddy.

Seriously, without Blizzard, all they have left now is Call of Duty. The Guitar Hero brand is heading to death, and COD is following the same path if they continue to milk it once per year. What makes them think their company is sustainable for the future?

I'm not talking about the world. I'm talking about Neogaf. I think you just agreed with me :lol

How can anyone purchase any game from this nutcase? I haven't touched SC2 yet (i'm a huge blizzard fan... sigh). I simply refuse to give this greedy bastard my money. Blizzard is going to fall with this asshat.

Honestly what this industry needs is another shit talker. More power to him. It will be grand when he inevitably falls though.
