Sony has rhe rights to use spider man themselves.

The spider man world is pretty large and has a lot of heroes and villains under that umbrella... theres no reason it has to be kraven. Theres silk, Ben Reilly Julia carpenter and many more.

Getting a real lion and having him interact with an actor is a nightmare to make happen. Theres a ton of red tape around animal treatment in these types of things and obviously a huge potential insurance nightmare if the actor or stuntman gets injured.

I can definitely see why they went for CG, irs just way easier on the paperwork. Doesn't make the cg good tho
