Bone is very special and unconventional because it blends elements together that you don’t necessarily expect — soft, little comic characters and epic high stakes fantasy adventure," Osborne tells The Hollywood Reporter. "To carry this into the cinematic realm presents both an opportunity to represent what readers of all ages have loved about the series, while pushing animated storytelling into exciting and different areas

I'm excited but i'm also very frightened as to how it'll turn out. If they make multiple movies it could be great but if they try and cram it all into one movie it's going to be garbage.

The Kung Fu Panda films are all excellently made, so I've got no problems with this pick. The Bone film will be visually stunning in his hands.

They will turn this into a kids movie, right ?

I played the demo for the point-n-click game when it was a big thing on Mac. I also think I bought the first volume sometime around then too.

I don't remember it much, but I'd guess I'd watch it.

Warner Animation still doing this or someone else? I know they brought the film rights.

Edit: Yep, Warner ANimation is still doing it. Plus Animal Logic? This movie is in great hands then.

I re-read the whole Bone thing a few months ago. Still holds up.

I highly recommend the black and white digital version. Looks legitimately incredible on an iPad Pro.

Not a fan of the color version but whatever gets you to read the book is OK by me.

it's not going to be 3d is it?

You know it will.

He only did the first. 2 and 3 were Jennifer Yuh Nelson(3 with someone else, forgot his name). Osborne made the little Prince.

I'm worried a Bone adaptation will suck, but Osborne's one of a small few that I could see pulling it off. Hopefully it's successful enough that it doesn't end up being a one-off

Never read the books, but I remember seeing that little white guy on the covers. Kung Fu Panda was visually amazing, so I'm looking forward to this.

Enk

makes good threads.
Lol, I literally just plopped down some money for the hardback collection today. Been wanting to read this for a while.

Kinda surprising that there hasn't been an attempt at a TV or movie adaptation of Bone before. It's been a bit of a cult favorite in comics for quite a while now and seems to be perfect comic for big screen adaptation. It really is a great comic.

Bone is wonderful, but I find it hard to imagine anyone making a good movie out of it. Or even three movies.

That's what I thought about The Lego Movie. Or Storks to an extent. But if it's anyone right enough for the job it's Mark Osborne with the help of WAG.

You walk into the theater.

It's just a 5 second loop of Phony Bone laughing hysterically, over and over for 2 hours.

You all walk out of the theater confused, like a herd of cows.

But he already has your $7.50.

My gamertag for a decade was Thorn Harvestar; I just recently changed it to this when it freed up just because it was shorter (and because Thorn was snagged before I could get it during the Great Inactive Gamertag Purge).

As far as a movie adaptation goes... idk. I worry about it, but I love the comic enough to give a film adaptation a chance. Hope they don't screw it up.

A previous Bone movie adaptation by Nickelodeon in the late 00s got cancelled precisely because it was becoming a generic kids movie loaded with pop songs and the like, so I doubt that'll happen with this attempt

Bone is a really fantastic series, and Mark Osborne's work on the KFP films are also fantastic.

If handled as well as I hope it is, this could turn out to be fantastic matchup. But considering how long this film has been in development hell and WB engaging in some pretty poor studio choices (looks at DCEU), I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't pan out, sadly.

Did they ever finish that series?

No, having to follow the books meant that the game had to have more characters and locations per episode than they could reasonably afford at the time, and it wasn't particularly popular due to Bone being somewhat unknown in Europe, where PnC games are the most successful. Once they got their hands on Sam & Max, a series both more prominent and full of asset recycling opportunities creative freedom, they never went back and the license to make more Bone episodes expired a few years ago.

I was thinking more about the violence in the second half ... like there are people sliced in half =|

i think 30 years ago, this would have been the perfect thing for don bluth's studio to make. or jim henson/frank oz.

at least this should be better than the version nickelodeon wanted to make 12 years back - with a britney spears pop song, magic gloves that made plants grow, and actual children as the voice actors for the bone cousins.

Where can I find the b/w digital? The Comixology ones are color

Bone was dope. Don't fuck it up.

I remember meeting the author and having him sign a copy of mine a while ago. Think i'll reread them if I can find mine.

I love Bone

but I am not sure about this director since the story of Bone gets way more invested later on and isn't as bright, simple or more light hearted as Kung Fu Panda

it is like a light dark horror at some points

plot is also fleshed out and I can't see this being a single movie

or not ending with a cliffhanger
