Labyrinth of the Demon King is a challenging first-person dungeon crawler, set against the backdrop of a mythical feudal Japan besieged by demons. As a lone foot soldier, embark on a quest to track down and slay the Demon King who killed your Lord. But will you have the skill, resources and stamina needed to survive through all the horrors this brutal world will throw at you?

This game is super cool. The combat takes some time getting used to and I think it'll be the game's biggest bottleneck. But the visuals, atmosphere, music - everything else is awesome.

Sweet. I want to have a closer look at this later! I've been randomly wanting to play KF lately, but I remember the games pretty well and know that they are going to move too slowly to be worth the time investment. Even if this was the same pace, at least I haven't see in before.

Hell yeah! Thanks for letting us know OP, had this on the wishlist for quite a while.

Oh, dungeon crawler? Yummy! Need a physical release for Switch, please.
Right now I'm suffering with Sakura Dungeon, not because it's hard or I don't like the ecchi stuff but the game lags (yeah, imagine a grid-movement game that lags) and crashes every 30 minutos. Stupid 12 dungeon crawlers in 12 months challenge.

What's the game's structure like? Is it rouge-like where you go into the dungeon and fight thru, die and it resets/changes? Or more like Resident Evil? Static layout, puzzles etc…hard to get a read from a few of the videos I glanced at.

Playing it now.

Amazing and worth the price.

I'd place it slightly below Lunacid cause the soundtrack was a banger and KIRA went crazy to give it some immersive sim elements with the spells and how to solve problems. I did a lot of fuckshit with that coffin spell.

But LotDK has a visual style for me that exceeds Lunacid so... It also feels like a love letter to the ps1 horror styles. Like shit just looks cool in design and atmosphere.

While it's close, Lunacid just barely tops it and maybe just for the soundtrack.

Better than Monomyth?

Hard for to answer cause I really like Monomyth for different reasons.

Depends what you are looking for. Monomyth has a lot more variety and approaches to combat and exploring around. Though Monomyth's world and design is... well.. just okay for me. I dig the post apoc angle it is going for world building, but the visual design is kinda too basic fantasy generic for me. It doesn't have much of an aesthetic identity.

This game is more about setting a mood and the world being mysterious as fuck with horror leanings. It does feel more like Siren or SH in a feudal era.

It's static. There are 4 towers you need to traverse, floor by floor. As the game name implies the layout is very labyrinthian, lots of corridors and rooms where demons roam.

So it's about survival, resource management, puzzle solving, saving at the right moments (can only save at specific locations).

I had played the demo of this a few months ago and wasnt blown away. I think i just assumed it was going to be a survival horror at the initial reveal but its not. I'll probably get it at a deep discount in the future.

My friend says it's King's Field with the atmosphere of Silent Hill and Siren.

Yep, this is how I would also describe it.

Anyway, not a PC guy but I did try the demo on steam last year and...this is the most PSX-esque game out of all the PSX-esque games out there 😁

Also, the atmosphere is so gloomy and foreboding that it almost becomes suffocating/insufferable after a while, now, don't know whether this is a good or bad thing so your mileage may vary.

Personally, finished SH2 Remake the other day and now I'm going through both The Last Faith and Returnal so I'm not looking towards another hardcore gloomy game, will probably get it down the line when and if it comes to the PS5 (and also discounted).

hi hows the game?

the game released on psn but the review..i expect it to be alot higher.

im thinking of buying it.

Welp, it's also on Playstation !

Edit : it's also discounted at 16 Eurodollars til May 28 (PS plus subscribers only)

Played it for a bit last night. Very bad ass! The atmosphere is fantastic, very creepy, awesome sound design.

Combat is hard as hell, for sure. Even with kicking them back or parrying, you run out of stamina fast. Enemies respawn as well, I believe after you use a shrine to save your game.

Still, loving the game even if it is brutal. Everything about it just oozes old school horror.

Saw this on X earlier, downloading the demo on PS5. Usually I'd just hit the "buy" button for King's Field in survival horror form but I need to see if the FOV is acceptable/can be adjusted, anything below 90 usually gives me motion sickness.

How is The Last Faith? That's the 2D Bloodborne right?

It's - basically - Bloodborne 2 brother 😁

Amazing atmosphere (for a pixel art game), OST straight outta Bloodborne, nice exploration and very, very challenging.

The only con/negative are the controls which aren't as snappy compared to other recent Metroidvanias, they're not bad but they're not as responsive as they should be IMO.

It's the perfect 15 Eurdollars game, I'm enjoying it very much.

Cheers

Considering I never understood the grief people have with Blasphemous' controls, I'll probably be okay. Cool.

Yeah, if you were OK with Blasphemous' controls you'll be right at home with this one (Heard that Blasphemous 2 is better in that regard).

...which brings me to : Blasphemous 2 is also on sale ATM on PSN (15 Eurodollars) 😁

Not to derail further buy...

Blasphemous 2 is one of those sequels that feels like a 2.0 version that is technically improved on many fronts BUT lacks that certain charm and excitement of the original. Huge fan of the first.

This is likely going to win GOTY and CCU is all we need to prove that most people want this btw /s lolz

We might check this out during a steam sale!

Impressions here and reviews on Steam are very good so I boughted. There's a launch sale and we have to support our indie bros.
