Pokémon is teasing a first person Horror Game

This looks more like some extra content in ZA than it does a horror spin-off. Plus they don't even say it's a new title in the tweet

Man I've been wanting something this for ages. Doesn't have to be bloody or gory, nor should it but that ghost type lore could go hard in a real game! Running from Pokemon trying to steal your soul or maybe worse! Then trying to solve the mystery or just escape would be something I'd absolutely go for if done well.

Getting chased by Haunter or some shit as he tries to eat your ass.

You guys are still thinking it's a stupid horror game? Lol
Like some predicted, myself included, is nothing but a new mega silly teaser.

It's actually a pretty funny reveal but yeah it would've been cool to see a stressful kiddie-horror Pokemon-themed game.

I should have known. My buddy was like, what if it's like that "found footage" of Hisuian Zorua before Arceus launched. And sure enough. Ok, I like Victrebell. Though I don't like Mega's.

The tonal whiplash here is insane. It's frustrating that they teased this as something kinda spooky and then by the end of it, it's totally goofy and cheerful.

So many early pokemon fans are well into adulthood now. I don't see a problem with making a game to cater to more mature tastes, or at the VERY LEAST, explore a new genre.

I'm thinking... Maybe like pokemon xfiles. You play as a person in a special government unit tasked with investigating mysterious incidents.

There are a ton of ghost and dark type pokemon that are genuinely scary. Drifloons "grabbing the hands of small children and dragging them away to the afterlife." Gengar hiding in your shadow to steal your life. The pokedex is RIFE with darker entries just begging to be explored and you can get away with quite a bit on a T rating. Even if you didn't have a given pokemon causing a problem, maybe just spooky stuff or unusual behaviors could be explained away by "mischievious spirits" that you have to then capture 108 of through various side quests or events, or perhaps just even as you're traveling along. Maybe doing so gets you a perfect IV Spiritomb with a unique ability or moveset that you can transfer to another game.

The money is on the table TPC, get your shit together.

You think the company that does the bare minimum with its gaming franchise is going to go out and do something new? They'll continue to release mediocre titles and break sales records. It is the highest grossing media franchise of all time, with minimal/poor effort. Nothing is going to change with them.

Meanwhile, Digimon devs are over in the corner trying to compete with Persona and aren't getting nearly enough attention.

this looks like a very middle of the road PS4 game. what the fuck are you talking about?
Surprise!

Not gonna split hairs about what Switch 2 can or can't do, but there might be a reason this ended up being a big nothing burger instead of something actually appearing on Switch 2. I'm thinking half because the people in charge of this company have shit for brains and half because please understand.

it still looks PS4-ish either way. like only certain lights having dynamic shadows for example.

still disappointing that it seems to only be a trailer and nothing more.
