I think Dawn, the fan pick, is the best. Don't get me wrong, Night of the Living Dead is a great flick, but Dawn of the Dead is so engrossing and so depressing that it takes awhile to decompress afterwards. I don't remember a horror film having nearly the kind of impact that Dawn did on me.
If anything, I like the remake because it allows me to unwind a bit and be entertained, which is the exact opposite of how I view the original. It's such a dreary world that Romero's characters inhabit. There's nothing worse than the sense that eventually, you'll die. Slowly, and probably painfully. The Dawn remake is so full of chaos and carnage that at least you know you'll go out quick.
I don't think that the lack of color necessarily enhances the film, it's just that it was so well shot. The setting helps the most, as it's a much more intimate story than the sprawling zombie epic that is Dawn of the Dead and the cold, sterile apocalyptic feel of Day.

themadcowtipper said:It is my favorite film, I guess it is also why I want to film a movie in Black and White. I always thought you could almost take the Zombies out ot Night and it would still be a very intense movie, because of the Atmosphere set. I think the Black and White and the tight spaces had alot to do with that .
