Quas is one of the most underrated players in all of League of Legends, all while being rated highly by everyone. That's how good he is.

I can't tell if TL has finally become a powerhouse team or C9 is just really bad at adapting to this meta.

Also, it's really good that TL have multiple carries now. When Piglet first came on the team it looked like it was either he carries of they fail. They funneled all the farm into him at the cost of Fenix & Quas. Now it seems like any of the 3 can go off.

Game 2: Team Liquid v C9

C9 go for an extremely tanky and CC heavy comp, with Lucian as their damage. Team Liquid bring a comp with a ton of peel for Azir and Sivir in Alistar, Nunu and Hecarim (who we'll say peels by diving C9's backline and occupying Lucian). I think they may have the advantage in the late game due to Azir's extreme damage scaling, if he can dodge away from some of the CC. If either carry messes up, though, they'll be destroyed.

This time the bot lane goes in C9 favour initially, as they pull out a significant cs lead, only for IWD to show up and even things out. Meteos reacts and ganks top, where Quas is extremely over-extended and surely dead... only for him to kill minions, ding 6, and trade 1-1. Meanwhile, Piglet/Xpecial dive and kill Sneaky, and although Piglet dies, it's an unassisted kill for LemonNation. There's a fight in mid lane too, where cs is in Fenix's favour. All in all, pretty even.

Meteos and Lemon attempt an opportunistic gank on Fenix, but he reacts quickly and baits them into a choke and protects himself with his Emperor's Divide. IWD runs in and gets killed, but it ends up 1-2 in Liquid's favour, Quas TPing to "secure" Hai. Piglet/Xpecial force Balls' TP to save Sneaky, subsequently isolated. Meteos, as soon as he and Hai get ults back, goes mid again, but Fenix expertly uses his ult to trap Meteos under tower and escapes with a drop of HP. "He's continually drawing a line in the sand." - Kobe. Hmm.

Sivir's caught up in cs, the other two lanes are well ahead, there's a 2-0 dragon advantage, they haven't lost a tower - Team Liquid are looking strong 17 minutes in, coming in to the mid game. IWD goes top and gets Balls' Flash. Meteos goes bottom and dives. Piglet/Xpecial kite it out as well as they could hope to, buying time for Fenix and Quas (via TP) to arrive, and the upshot is a 1-1 trade in kills and a 1-1 trade in towers (Hai sat mid and took mid outer). C9 don't gain much ground. They try again, three man diving Quas, and although they kill him, they can't take the tower and lose mid before they can recover position. C9 are throwing everything at TL, and they're holding strong. A pause comes. Fenix has Nashor's, Morello's, a Blasting Wand and Sorcs at 22 minutes - very aggressive build, he's been able to back it up with superb play despite the pressure so far, but if he missteps once, it could all fall apart.

Oh yeah, C9 are claiming lags. And they come out of the pause and rush dragon instantly. If C9 win this game, that's going to be talked about for a long time...

Huge teamfight near baron when Xpecial gets caught, but thanks to his ult it takes forever for him to die. Hai gets behind the Emperor's Divide and gets a full ult onto TL's backline! But Quas survives everything, ults him down, then ends up the last man standing, Sneaky getting a triple kill before dying. C9 immediately return to baron and engage, taking out IWD to start a 4v2... but Fenix kills everyone with Azir! This time he uses the Emperor's Divide in combination with Xpecial to let his soldiers decimate everyone. Piglet wasn't even there. That's Baron. Fenix is 6-1-6. He has been immense. GG.

1.0 - Individual play

TL winning the first game gave them the momentum to keep rolling. They're very emotional players and Quas and Fenix are playing their minds out right now.

I can't tell if TL has finally become a powerhouse team or C9 is just really bad at adapting to this meta.

Piglet putting his pride aside allowed them to gain much higher synergy. C9 is still playing okay but TL is just playing like gods.

This may be a really ignorant question, but has Riot ever considered some sort of LAN version of the client for tournaments like this to hopefully reduce the possibility of lag? Or do they already have one and it's just something messed up on their internal network?

This isn't Blizzard (starcraft) it's the tournament realm which is basically LAN.

This is LAN I think.

It's LAN, they don't give it out to other organizations (since an offline mode of their f2p game getting out could kill the game).

I stand corrected. I wonder what the lag was caused by then.

It's hard to say. If they're emulating a server then it's possible the server and client just got out of sync and caused the minion issue.

This meta specifically, sure. But they haven't been the all dominating C9 all season - they now have the misfortune of playing a team who are coming online at the right time.
