Searched and didn't see a dedicated thread for this game, but lock if old.
It looks amazing. I guess I haven't been paying attention lately, but this came out of nowhere for me and it looks like they're going above and beyond to make sure this is a really fun and enjoyable Lego game. You can play as Superman! Isn't that crazy??!

I think it's really cool that Lego is making these open world games. It's a great direction to take.

This looks far better than it probably has any business being lol. I can't believe I'm actually somewhat excited for a lego game.

Okay, all of that looks ace even if I wasn't such a fan of superheroes.

Exploring a city, sandbox, full levels, same in and out playing that made the past games fun, worthwhile Superman flying in a game, the best Batmobile driving (sorry Batman returns) , variation in missions, and reference gags. I love it.

Handheld versions are just level-based. No open world.

Sucks. The Vita trailers on Gametrailers looks pretty good though and you can still play as the other superheroes. I have it locked in at Amazon for $30 and it now comes with a $10 future amazon credit so i may still pick it up.

I'm bummed to hear that the Vita version is a portable-only version. It's probably made by TT Fusion then. The PSP version of Lego Batman 1 is still an incredible thing, they put the entire console version on PSP. Not sure why they moved away from doing that and onto building portable-only versions. Probably a budget thing.

I keep hoping that they'll port console versions of these to 3DS/Vita, and then I keep being disappointed.

As long as it's better than the first lego batman as that was the worst of all the lego games.

Seems to be. Though I've only seen this 20 minute gameplay, and only played the demo for the first Lego Batman.

Honestly I'm hoping they make a legit Lego Spiderman and Marvel Super Heroes.
I'm getting this on PC though. My nephew is gonna love it.

Will never happen. It's true that Lego is making Marvel stuff now, but for the games, Warner owns TT and publishes Lego games. Disney would have to give Warner a cut for that to happen.

In movie terms, we'll get that when we get Roger Rabbit 2.

edit: It's also crazy how good the water looks in LEGO games.

Sad face.
And yeah, I agree.

I wouldn't rule the possibility out completely. Licensing would be through LEGO rather than Disney (assuming video game rights are included with the toy license), and the only company that LEGO loathes is Hasbro. Also, Traveller's Tales isn't the sole LEGO game developer (though certainly the best).

Would love that, but it doesn't seem like that's high on their list of priorities.

The Lego games are always Wii lead console. Guarantee you that all of them past Lord of the Rings will have online play due to Wii being defunct.

Looks great. Now TT Games please add the damn online co-op!

Someone lost the online code down the back of their sofa after Complete Saga.

It's really weird how they left online co-op out of so many of the games after that.

They've led on HD twins since Star Wars III with a new graphics engine.

Star Wars TCS had online co-op of sorts so I don't see why not.

I imagine TCS was them testing it out and realizing Lego games sell best on the Wii where hardly anyone uses the online, so it was a waste of their time. It's possible WiiU gets huge and the same thing persists, but I doubt it'll happen in the first year, so I see them adding back in online since they obviously know how to do it.

It's probably more a case of the LEGO games being aimed at children who probably can't play online. It's just not worth the effort to build online co-op when their target audience is going to be sitting in the same room with the people they are going to be playing with. TT did spend a lot of effort creating the best split screen I've ever seen though.

The Robin coloured Batmobile is the greatest thing ever. I would buy that set.

Like I said in the Lego City thread, I think these open world Lego games, especially something original like undercover, would be the one game I'd be okay with billboards having ads for Lego sets.

but at the same time, i love fake advertisements

In for Vita version. Disappointed it isn't open world but it's still a steal at the amazon early-pre-order price of $29.99 (with $10 credit too).

I'll get the PC version too so I can see it the way it's truly meant to be, though I think the Vita version will get more play out of me.

Finished 3DS demo version. I figure the Vita version is probably exactly the same, only without the 3D and perhaps a tad better visuals. Was pretty fun. Still going to miss that open world.

no 3Ds demo in the UK and no open world? whats the game like on the handhelds?

Just played the 3DS demo. I liked it. Not sure which version I'll get though. I plan on getting Lego City Undercover on the Wii U so that should take care of the open world itch. It's not like the Vita and 3DS couldn't handle the open world nature. At least I would think they'd be able to unless they just went crazy with it in the console versions. Just that those versions would need to be better suited to pick up and play, even if you are playing them at home or on the go.

Outside of open world vs levels are the versions suppose to be the same in terms of missions?

Played the 3DS demo last night and thought it was awful. Looking at footage of the console version gives me hope though.

Just watched the Vita demo from gametrailers. Looks to be identical to the 3DS demo I played except for much better graphics.

Based on the other portable LEGO games, they'll be roughly the same theme (ie museum), but the actual levels will be completely different. They are completely different games that pretty much just share cutscenes.

You can go watch YouTube videos of the difference between the DS/PSP version of Pirates of the Caribbean and the Wii/360/PS3 one. Thus far, the 3DS/Vita versions of the LEGO games have been up-ported versions of the DS games, so temper your expectations accordingly.

The Superman theme plays when Supes flies around. I'll buy this on the strength of that alone.

And Aquaman is in?! So bought.
