It would be my #1 recommended game for anyone who is looking to buy a Wii U, and in my opinion, it's a reason to go out and buy the console now. It's a TRUE video game.

Aquamarine - you have hit it right on the head. I was at the store today and got a call from my wife who saw the commercial for it and wanted it. I told her it was on the new Wii U system so she said we should get it.

As of today I am now the proud owner of a Wii U Deluxe and have Lego City Undercover.

My god it is really funny. Only completed .5% (completed the first robbery) but I have laughed quite a bit at it. An exceptionally charming game and, here's hoping, the start of an excellent series of LEGO - open world.

Here's hoping for a LEGO Undercover - Space, or Western, or etc. to play in.

So I beat the story mode just now and let me tell you guys that you have no idea what is waiting for you. This goes from 80's cop movie to (massive end game spoilers ahead, you've been warned)
incredible space adventure complete with a freefall through the atmosphere and a final confrontation on a falling station.
Holy crap this was goddamn amazing, my jaw was to the floor for the entire final sections. Nintendo, lock these guys down. You would be fools not too. This game needs a sequel so bad. I never saw this coming, I never dreamed it would get so epic.

EDIT: Please god let there be a newgame+

I beat the game earlier today and really enjoyed the games humor amd story. My favorite character has to be Frank Honey. It would be awesome if they made DLC involving Frank. Now I am working to get all the collectibles. I am up to 60 percent right now. I wasn't really going to get the 3ds version but now I plan to.

This game is awesome. So many corny jokes, all delivered by such good voice actors. Each mission has been a delight. The city design is just outstanding too; maybe the best in any GTA clone. I've spent hours goofing around and I've been finding optional paths, jumps, bricks, easter eggs, and mini-missions every few minutes. I especially love the free run missions, which are like little slices of platforming joy. My only complaints are the long loading times and the overly sensitive steering, but these are minor quibbles in the face of such a charming and well made game.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I had to stop reading the thread in fear of spoilers. Do we know if the eShop version has better load times than retail or is it about the same? Thanks!

The more I play this game, the higher up the list of "favorite open world games" this game rises. This game is really incredible. Just unlocked time trials, so fun. I can't believe I am saying this, but this game has a real chance of unseating San Andreas for me.

Does anyone that went to PAX have impressions from the 3DS version? If this game is as fun as everyone is leading on, I'll definitely be interested in The Chase Begins.

I'm 15 hours in and at exactly 24%.

I finished and I was at 27%. I had been doing super builds and getting collectibles all throughout my play through. It's shocking how huge this game is, it's bigger than I thought it would be. Heck it's bigger than I thought it was while I was playing it.

We have no real comparisons in video form yet, but people have been mentioning faster loading times compared to their buddies retail copy. I think someone said something like 20% faster but they might have been imagining it.
It probably is faster but we don't know by how much yet.

Quotes like these amaze me and male the wait till the end of the week even more unbearable!

Most bliss I've felt in a game this year, a year that includes heavy contenders like Dishonored and Xenogears. Amazingly balanced and packed game. The exploration in this game should be the new bar for open world games.
Edit: Xenoblades.... Xenogears I played last year :p

As was said before, the last mission is just awesome. Overall a good game, despite a slow beginning. It's really amazing to see how much content the game is packing. Even after finishing the story, I have dozens and dozens of things to find and do, and I still need to start all missions again in order to get every gold bricks. I think I miss like 350 gold bricks out of 450 after more that 15 hours.

BTW, does anyone know where you get the upgrade that allows to pull those large and heavy containers you have everywhere ?

Finally got to play this game this weekend. My son and I are having an absolute blast with it. It is by far the most entertaining Lego game I've ever played, and it is huge in scope and in content. It looks fantastic, image quality is very high and any aliasing issues are extremely minor -- essentially unnoticeable for me. Highly, highly recommended.

It's great to finally have some awesome new content for the Wii U, which proves its worth to me with every new exclusive game like this one.

Great game that I think it a must have if you have a wii u. If all you play is the story mode its worth it as it will take a good bit of time to do and enjoyable. Once you complete it if you like collect a thons you will have your hands full for some time. The city feels alive most things can be destroyed and most building can be entered in some fashion.

The load times are there but I felt less bothered with them then say playing skyrim on 360. The game does has slow downs at times. Doing the story mode my wii u locked up twice but this has happened with most other games also and I wish they could find and fix this issue. The game is easy of course but what do you expect in a lego game?

The open world and the wii u pad work so well with the map there. I must say they did a great job with that. Would love to see some dlc for this game maybe some Honey missions. I hope the 3ds version turns out good as the story alone will make me end up buying it.

After playing this all weekend I can pretty much say that this is the most densely packed and fun GTA-style open world in a game yet. It seems like every time I get out of a car to start a mission, I get distracted by seeing some blue climb-able studs in the distance and end up spending the next half hour or more climbing, exploring, and jumping from building to building. This is a huge contrast to typical GTA-style exploration system where you basically just go into alleyways and maybe climb a ladder to a rooftop every now and then for a hidden package equivalent. The missions are also infinitely better. Everything involves fun puzzles, exploration, and platforming. By contrast again, 90% of GTA-style game missions are either "go here, kill this guy, and escape," "deliver this from point A to point B," or "follow this car."

I seriously can't say enough about this game. Without a doubt the best game I've played since at least Sleeping Dogs, and its probably better. The only negative is the load times, but the big ones only hit every once in a while. I just have GAF open on my phone and read a few posts when this happens.

This game is worth buying a Wii U for, and I highly doubt that the PS4/720 will have a game to match it in their launch windows. For me, this is the game of the new generation until something comes along and unseats it. GTA V will sell ten times more, but I highly doubt it will be half as much fun.

Change your criminal disguise to Rex Fury and pull on the handles.

Left off right before the final mission last night. The difficulty definitely spikes pretty high during the last few penultimate missions. Can't wait to finish it up later today, and then I can finally get around to collecting everything in the whole city.

I get a Crackdown deja vu feeling from this game whenever I see the blue studs.

So far my son loves to play one mission at a time (with my assistance) and then he just want to run around and do "crazy stuff" (his words). We have both liked the game quite a bit after one weekend of play, and the loading while somewhat annoying hasn't bothered us too much.

Fun little series of events for me...

I was in the forest and fell/jumped into the river after fishing. Swam down the river towards the waterfall. Went over the waterfall into this little lake surrounded by mountains. Saw a bridge in the distance and swam towards that. Finally jumped out of the lake, climbed up the smaller mountain, and headed towards bridge. Climbed up the ladder and checked out the bridge, then saw a boat close by. I wondered if I could control the boat so I jump off the bridge and start swimming towards the boat. I get really close to the boat
and then all of the sudden a shark jumps out of the water and eats me. The music and randomness of it scared the shit out of me, but it was so awesome.
I love this game.

Hijacking a train and driving it around is probably one of the best quasi-easter eggs I've ever seen. They put so much detail into the rail system and the trains.

The only thing that would have been better, is if driving a train had unlocked a mini-game where you actually had to stop and pick up passengers with tickets. Then deliver them to their destination in a timely manner.

Game keeps surprising me with how fun it is and how much there is to do. I've never been into Lego Games but I'm thoroughly enjoying every min with this game. I hope it's successful and that we see it become a Franchise.

This game is very good, but the graphics do leave something to be desired (and yes, I am nearly finished with the story mode). It seems like there is an almost total lack of anti-aliasing.

Honestly, however, the graphics could be absolutely awful and I would still recommend this game. It is sooooooooo good.

Its really a shame that this game is getting incorrectly labeled as "just another Lego game" in some corners of the gaming press. I have never had this much fun in an open world game. I am completely blown away, guys.
