LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

You just know somewhere, some game executive is like "people don't want to play with Legos on their desks in front of their PCs" to which I say, I already have Legos on my desk, and how is being on my desk worse than the floor in front of a TV?

Also, the
A-Team
set just confirms that season two is all in as Lego 80s Nostalgia: The Game.

HOLD THE PHONE!
The new franchise packs also mention that, along with unlocking a new adventure world, there also seem to be something called
battle areas!!!
.

This seem to indicate that we are getting somesort of
multiplayer battle mode!!!
.

This game keeps mocking me from my bedroom floor. I opened it and installed the disc in October, but have yet to open the figures or set them up. I've been turned off by the idea of building things -- although I found out here that you don't need to -- and just haven't been in the mood for a new LEGO game.

That said, I really need to get on it this summer and play through it.

Just a heads up, if you haven't updated since October you may need to download another huge update... unless you haven't bought anything past wave 1 in that case, you could skip it I suppose/

Debating between tracking down the first Starter Pack on the cheap or just wait out for the new one. Figured I'd have something new to follow since Disney Infinity is shutting down.

Apparently you should be good all this is a second year of content using the same starter set.

I'm not sure they are going to release a new starter pack, and even if they are, everything that has been released so far indicatew that all the new content will be patched in (the biggest tell, I think is that the new leaked packs don't have any indicators of Sequel or similar).

Plus, depending on your platform, it seem that (at least the 360) starter packs are at ~$60 (the lowest I've seen the packs go was around ~$50 (but that was with Best Buy's GCU).

I am having heart palpitations right now holy shit I'm so amped

same

Plus, we still have a trailer(?) to look forward to tomorrow.

...Wait, I just had a thought, since
battle modes
seem to be thing. Maybe they might be
making the combat a bit more complex
. 'Cause the
new mode
seems to focus on a aspect of previous Lego games (from what I've seen at least) that felt a little under-cooked.

I'm hoping at the very least for some new powers and move sets and puzzles to keep things fresh.

Well... from what has been seen so far, for new powers
wall climbing (M:I's Ethan) & Shape Shift (AT's Jake) (although this could be just a variation on Gamer Kid's shirts)
seem to be a thing.

As for puzzles, well... we can only hope.

Just to point out we have had team packs, fun packs, level packs .... And now with year 2
story packs which includes new design to be attached to the base see Amazon leaks

Quick question. Do you need to control the camera with the right stick in this game?

My 3.5 year old daughter loves skylanders. We finished the series and i got her infinity yesterday.
She didnt like it. I think its the camera control...
Planning to get the dimensions set if its easier to control.

Thanks.

Yes, there is camera control, but as I recall you only get direct control in the adventure worlds (the open world for a franchise). In the main story and level packs the camera can't be changed much as the story scenes are more linear (well, you can move slightly with the Right Stick). The camera is a bit different than INfinity, though.

I'd say it should be fine, but you may want to look at some gameplay or test it out before hand (if you can).

Spoiler tagging the release date? Come on.

I suppose that was a little much, removed.

I'm not sure if it automatically updated, but I haven't bought anything. Perhaps I could skip it? Then again, it probably won't let me and will require me to download before playing.

As long as you got the day one patch you should able to play the main story just fine (it fixed some major bugs).

I like that from the leaked images,
it looks like they all have gold bases instead of the blue ones. Good way to quickly distinguish Year 1 and Year 2 sets.

Can anyone point me to the leaks? Tks.

There it is right below this

Brick Inquirer has just a posted a leak from Amazon Spain of some of the upcoming packs.

I'm not posting images incase you want to avoid further spoilers.

EDIT: Page has been updated with higher quality images & descriptions of each pack and a potiential release date of September 27th[

Huh,
didn't even notice. Thought it was just for Ethan Hunt, for some reason.

Beetlejuice is coming guys!

LEGO Dimensions packs based on 16 new entertainment properties will begin launching on September 27, 2016 with the Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission: Impossible Level Packs, Harry Potter and Adventure Time Team Packs, and The A-Team Fun Pack. Additional expansion packs based on other highly anticipated films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The LEGO® Batman Movie and wildly popular properties The Goonies, Sonic The Hedgehog, Teen Titans Go!, LEGO® City Undercover, Knight Rider, The Powerpuff Girls, Gremlins, Beetlejuice and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released in product waves stretching into summer of next year. All expansion packs provide players with continued compatibility to use everything from waves 1-9 interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game. And no new starter pack is required, as all new packs will simply enhance the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack game and work with the existing LEGO Toy Pad.

Thanks, I found the source in Amazon Mexico too.

I need this!

And it seems that Ghostbusters is the only story pack? Is it working like a starter pack? Odd choise of property, Harry would have worked much better.

Yup if they had done a harry potter & fantastic beasts combined set that would have been a huge hit. Not sure why they went with GB16 instead. Since these things take a very long time to plan out and develop, maybe they were expecting it to have more fan support than it seems to be having right now.

Harry Potter's already had two retail games in the past. I imagine TT thought a third would be redundant, though there's still Fantastic Beasts.

Fantastic Beasts will get a Story Pack

Well, there you go. XD

I figure this is the best place to ask but:

As i try to finish up Lego Dimensions Series 1, i was trying to find the cheapest path to accessing all of the content and being able to 100% the game. However, i never found a guide that wasn't made early on in the game's release. Anyone have a good list?

Sure no problem
  • Starter Pack - obviously
  • Every Level Pack: Back to the Future, The Simpsons, Portal 2, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, & Midway Arcade - To Unlock every Level and Adventure world not covered by the remaining packs
  • Team Packs: Scooby Doo & Jurassic World - To unlock their respective adventure world
  • Wicked Witch - to unlock the Wizard of Oz adventure world (and is basically Gandulf+)
  • Any Ninjago character - to unlock the Ninjago adventure world and to use Sipinjitsu (I'd recommend Sensei Wu, as he has the pole vault ability)
  • Cragger - to get to the Chima adventure world & is the only Chima character who can use chi underwater
  • Cyberman - They are one of two characters with the drone ability. You need Cyberman because they can hack underwater.
  • Unikitty - is the only character that can interact with Rainbow LEGO bricks
  • Aquaman - ability to use the Atlantis spots
  • Emmett or Bane - both have the Drill ability (Emmett can drill Without his vehicle, however)
  • Slimer - The only character who can go through ghosts and use sonar smash under water

Any abilities not covered by a character in the list are coved by the included vehicles.

Also, they added the Hire-a-Hero option in game that let's you rent a character with an need ability for 30 secs. This is not the easiest way to collect everything, as the studs need to rent doubles every time you use it

Just for easier viewing, here's all the IPs now in the game.

Season 1

Midway Arcade
Ghostbusters
Doctor Who
Portal
The Simpsons
Back to the Future
Jurassic World
LEGO Ninjago
Scooby-Doo
The LEGO Movie
Lord of the Rings
Wizard of Oz
Chima
DC Super Heroes

Season 2

Ghostbusters
Adventure Time
Mission Impossible
Harry Potter
A-Team
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
LEGO Batman Movie
The Goonies
Sonic the Hedgehog
Teen Titans Go!
LEGO City Undercover
Knight Rider
The Powerpuff Girls
Gremlins
Beetlejuice
E.T.

As amazing as that list is, it makes me a little sad knowing we'll never see "real" Lego sets for most of it.

Insider Lego people have said that they're using Lego Dimensions as a testbed for a number of properties to see if there's enough interest to do proper Lego sets for them. So if there's something you want to see get a full, proper Lego set from these properties, just hope they sell well enough to make it worthwhile I guess.

Do you have any idea if I buy season 2, do I get season 1's content on the disc?

So i bought Lego Dimensions back in december but still haven't played it. I want to start on it soon though, but i was curious about something. I found a shop where you can just buy the base for a character. Is that all i need to play as/unlock that character in the game? If so then it might save me quite a bit of money since i dont really care about having actual figures.

It's my understanding that a good chunk of it is on the disc. The rest of it is patched since a lot of stuff came after launch. The base game will be the same game used for both Season 1 and Season 2. All of Season's 2 content will be patched in. All the patching is free. The way to get the content is to buy the packs which has an ID tag in the base of the LEGO that allows you to access the content in the game. Does that answer your question?

Yep, everything is in the base, and then they have ones that are rewriteable for the vehicles and stuff that come with the figures.

Sweet, much appreciated! I just got the Best Buy deal on the BttF level pack and i'm going to pick it up, and i'd like to at least own all the figures needed to 100% the game.
