LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

Now for the important question: Will it be Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice or the animated series version?

Everything else has been the movies so far, like the Slimer we got is the movie one and doesn't actually talk or anything.

But we'll have to wait and see. I'd expect movie.

As amazing as that list is, it makes me a little sad knowing we'll never see "real" Lego sets for most of it.

I'm pretty sure most of it DOES have real lego sets, I know I've seen sets for Doctor Who & Scooby Doo sets quite recently.

You just know somewhere, some game executive is like "people don't want to play with Legos on their desks in front of their PCs" to which I say, I already have Legos on my desk, and how is being on my desk worse than the floor in front of a TV?

Also, the
A-Team
set just confirms that season two is all in as Lego 80s Nostalgia: The Game.

It pains me to say that you're probably right on the PC thing.

But I also suspect they believe people would hack the figures in and render the "gotta buy 'em all" thing moot.

Do you have any idea if I buy season 2, do I get season 1's content on the disc?

The way they have designed Lego Dimensions, you will never, ever, even 10 years from now, need to buy any other physical game than the Starter Pack. Everything else that they've planned builds on top of that.

So it can be 2019 and we're on Series 5 and you will still only need to walk into the store and buy the same Starter Pack that came out in the fall of 2015 and you will be good to go with everything else they've made. There is no "Lego Dimensions 2/3/4/5" it's just Lego Dimensions and then endless expansion packs.

At least, that's how they've described what their goal with it is. Who knows if it'll even be around still in 2019 but they've said they already have at least 3 years worth of content planned so assuming it continues to make them money, I imagine they'll continue to make expansion packs.

Goddamn one of the Lego Dimensions execs is a serious 80's kid!!

Clever move, I buy half the lego sets for me (Knight Rider, BTTF, Goonies etc) and the other half for my kid (Adventure Time, Lego Movie, Powerpuff Girls etc)

Holy shit at the list of season 2 stuff. Man this game. THIS game. Shit why did I buy a house and take on a mortgage.

So you can take out 2nd mortgage (no please don't do that).

The game is fun but the puzzle are not as good as regular LEGO game and character power requirement to open up area can get really annoying especially if you are OCD.

Now I've thought of a second thing: Cyborg is already in the game under DC Universe. Will he be able to unlock the Teen Titans Go adventure world, or would they make another Cyborg minifig more in the style of the show?

I figure this is the best place to ask but:

As i try to finish up Lego Dimensions Series 1, i was trying to find the cheapest path to accessing all of the content and being able to 100% the game. However, i never found a guide that wasn't made early on in the game's release. Anyone have a good list?

Here's a really good Google Sheets tracker that helps you keep track of your collection and also gives you tips of what you need to buy for cheapest 100%!

Considering how both Cyborgs are quite different (I would imagine the Teen Titans Go version would be more 'wacky' considering the show), I could see a situation where they have the DCU version of the character not access the TT Go Adventure World.

But I honestly doubt that we will get the full cast for TT Go in the game anyway (likely just Starfire & Robin in a Team Pack and Raven & Beastboy in another Team Pack).

Well there were two TTG packs in the leak, and two team packs seems possible. We know Beast Boy and Raven will both be around at least. I can't imagine they'd leave out Robin or Starfire but they might not want to double up on Cyborgs.

As much as I prefer TTG Cyborg's voice actor and design and would love to have him in Lego form, if he doesn't get in I won't be surprised.

Unless there's two team packs and then a Story pack, or whatever those Connectable things are, which could cover 5 characters total.

If one of the TTG members doesn't make it into Dimensions they'll probably just release an actual set with them at some point in the future. Lego loves splitting team members up among multiple sets/waves, gotta buy 'em all of you want those Minifigs!

I can see the following be part of the game regarding Teen Titans Go Content:
-Team Pack A: Raven & Beast Boy (Characters) / Cyborg's Car & Titans Couch
-Team Pack B: Robin & Starfire (Characters) / Robins Bike and A Joke Item (from one of the episodes of Go; A Giant Bottle, Cyborg's Motocyle from the 40%/40%/20% episode that plays that song in the background, or a plate of waffles.......scratch the last one)

I can easily picture this. Maybe even having a special bundle like you say releasing in the summer having all five Titans, Portal Attachment and some items.

I guess I just don’t understand how season 2 will be implemented as part of the overall game.

I mean with the season 1 characters, they were designed to open up areas in the starter disc game. But doesn’t the season 1 figures allow you to open up all the locations during the game?

Will there be a new story?

I couldn't help myself. I bought the Back to the Future Level Pack from Best Buy, because it's so cheap there, before buying the actual game.

Question: Does Best Buy do a price match, with say Amazon, and then apply your Gamers Club discount? Or is it one or the other?

ALL the season 2 franchises unlock their own Adventure World to explore (which will be added via an update).

Based on what has been announced so far, there will be no new main campaign. Each of the new Story Packs seem to be at least half
the lengh of the main campaign (6 to the main's 14 + epilogue).

I have no experience with this myself, but from what I heard they DO price match. But getting your GCU discount seems to be up to whoever is ringing you up.

There will very likely be an extremely large patch just before Season 2 sets go on sale to implement the new areas into the game, as they've done before each Wave of Season 1 packs. The main storyline itself will continue through the Story Pack expansion sets. We know Ghostbusters '16 and Fantastic Beasts will have them but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Lego Batman Movie get one as well as maybe one more (bringing the total campaign levels for Season 2 to at least 18, if each one is 6 levels, VS Season 1's 14 campaign levels).

I wouldn't mind seeing Lego City Undercover get a Story Pack to be honest. LCU takes place in the "main" Lego universe and I don't think we've seen anything from that yet, so it could be a good way to not only make a semi-sequel to LCU but also a good way to continue the main Dimensions story.

Wait, did you really mean ‘each’ of the story packs will be at least half the length of the season 1 campaign? Or all of them together?

If it was each Story Pack, that would be HUGE. I mean we would be talking about 3 main campaigns worth in length.

That’s a little disappointing we won’t get a new, main campaign. I would be willing to pay another $40 for another starter disc with a fresh campaign. Although I guess it depends on how well the story packs are handled.

In the end, though, we really don’t play the LEGO games for the story or plot, but they can still be well written on humor, so it can be fun to watch/play through a new campaign.

Yes, I had assumed we would need more patches with each of the expansions released. Although this does sound a bit different in that if you want to play through the new overall ‘story’, you need to buy the new story packs instead of having a starter disc. I am guessing because of that the story won’t be linked, but self-contained in each story pack. A little disappointing, but still will purchase.

The Story Packs are the new expansions to the main campaign. There's gonna be 4 new Waves in Season 2 (6, 7, 8, & 9) and it wouldn't surprise me to see each Wave get a Story Pack.

What PikaED means by Adventure Worlds is this:

In Lego Dimensions there are multiple kinds of levels. They are...

Main Campaign: This is the main storyline to Lego Dimensions. It's on the disc in the Starter Pack and will continue in Story Packs.

Adventure World: This is a big open-world hub area. Every franchise in Lego Dimensions has an Adventure World that can only be unlocked by a character from said franchise. Once unlocked any character can play in them.

Level Pack: Certain franchises get their own mini Lego game within Dimensions. They are only one level but they vary in length, from short (BttF, Simpsons) to quite long (Dr Who, Portal).

Battle Arena: Each franchise from Season 2 opens up a new area that sounds like it's a Powerstone-esque 4-player fighting game.

Story Pack: Starting in Season 2 these will be used to continue the story of the Main Campaign. The first one will be a 6-level Ghostbusters 2016 game. There's speculation Lego might use this to either replace normal Lego games or to give certain franchises that wouldn't necessarily get their own standalone game a more fleshed out experience. With GB16 and assumedly Fantastic Beasts, the campaign of the Story Packs will cover the entirety of the movie they're from as well as weaving in Lego Dimensions plot threads with new gameplay elements.

Each story pack, ie the ghostbusters reboot, will have ties with the main villain and will add 6 levels.

Each level pack will give you just that a level, ie mission impossible and adventure time.

Any character from that world will give you access to those worlds and battle bits which is new.

Ok, that sounds reasonable. I am guessing you will need characters from other franchises to get ‘everything’ within the story packs (or even level packs).

I wonder how many story packs there will be.

Most likely, yes. There's a new gameplay feature where you apparently "rip the world apart" with portals or something to find pieces of Lord Vortex's power or mask or something? And like any Lego game I'm sure there's lots of little secrets and areas you can't reach without using different character and abilities.

What I'm curious about is, will the Story Packs and Adventure Worlds and Level Packs from Season 2 have any content for the Season 1 characters, or will they be sort of left in the dust for Season 2 stuff? I guess if you reach an area that needs a drill you can probably use any character, Season 1 or 2, to get it... I just hate it when a new "version" of a TTL game comes out and dismisses everything that came before it. Like how sure you can use your Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 figures in DI 3.0 but there's no actual new content for them.

This time only Ghostbusters 2016 and Fantastic Beasts have been confirmed so far.

Fixed that for you. There are 4 new Waves coming for Season 2, it's entirely possible that each Wave will get a Story Pack. We don't have that information yet so it's way too early to call if there's just the two. GB16 is this fall in Wave 6 and Fantastic Beasts will likely be with Wave 7 around Christmas or the start of next year. No reason to assume that those are the ONLY ones, especially when Lego has a huge movie coming out next year that would perfectly coincide with new Dimensions content like a Story Pack (Lego Batman Movie) especially considering the main character of said movie is one of the 3 main characters of the Dimensions Main Campaign.

Or, more succinctly, will the year 1 toys get harder to find soon.

Since Lego Dimensions has only been around for 1 year we don't really know, we have no pattern to look to. But if Disney Infinity and Skylanders are any indication, Season 1 content will be easy to come by for a while still (especially, I'd say, the Level Packs). And now that Disney Infinity is over, there will be even more shelf space for Dimensions.

Have you tried online? Both Amazon.co.uk and Lego's website have everything still. Or did you mean specifically in stores?

I meant mainly in stores, yeah - though I think Unikitty is now only on Amazon and a few other sites (overpriced) but I couldn't spot it on Lego's site. We've had a lot less luck in terms of the sales that kept seeming to pop up in the US threads for buying multiple in one go. Still, I've got plenty, not holding it against the game.

Unikitty is still at a good price on Amazon. I'm only seeing $13.80, which is not even $2 over retail.

Oh yeah, and I'm all sorted for it now, but thought it was worth throwing out there that in other countries it may be worth being a little quicker on the fun packs if there's anything people want.

The reddit spreadsheet that was linked to a while back states wonder woman and cyborg are required to 100% the Simpsons world and Midway arcade world. Is this true?
? Don't you just need heat vision & laser deflection for those? The Scooby Fire Snack upgrade for the Scooby snack should cover the heat vision & Wonder Woman's laser deflection is also shared by the Companion Cube's Deflector Cube upgrade. I 100%'d the game without Cyborg. I only have Wonder Woman because she's basicly a flying Batman.

EDIT: Wait, I think you might acually need Cyborg for that one Brick in the Midway Arcade adventure world. I only remember getting it because I used the Hire-a-Hero to rent Cyborg. I'm fairly positive that you can complete the Simpsons Adventure world with just The Laser Deflection cube and a flying vehicle (for example, the TARDIS)

Cool thanks. I basically stopped playing the game in December as I was moving house and cause I'm still in the processes of doing up the house and haven't had chance to play. I should have been picking up the packs though cause some of them are over RRP now.

Jumping on in. How much content is there specific to the extra fun packs you can buy?

P.S. If anybody is interested, in the UK ToysRUs online are offering a starter pack with two free fun packs.

5% cashback also available via Top Cashback.

Every franchise that has at least a Hub World that's a big open level to explore. So the only way to get every Hub World is to buy at least one character from that franchise, which means if you're ONLY buying Fun Packs, you'll miss out on Portal 2, Jurassic World, and Atari Arcade.
