I'm currently debating on whether I should get a PS4 for Christmas or several lego modular building sets.

PS4 will get cheaper eventually. And with more storage. And the games will get cheaper and more plentiful.
So get modulars.
I'd wait until the Black Friday deals to decide. Should be some good bundles for PS4. The Brick Friday sales on LEGO will be pretty weak based on last year.

Question - how would you go about selling a non-original cafe corner? I collected the parts from bricklink over some time, and one of the colours was switched for one more readily available (I think the roof)

Another amazing OT. Love how Wetwired's Ghostbusters photo shoot appeared twice in the OT.
Popped into TRU this morning. Hoped to find the Smaug set so I could tempt myself into buying it in order to get a free Bricktober Pizza Palace (Hey, $20 value vs. double VIP, I'll take the Palace!), sadly nothing...
Even worse, all of the bricktober sets I saw Saturday were totally gone, not a single one anywhere. And they had at least 60 or 70 of them.

Probably wont have very many opportunities left. That set goes for over $600+ in the aftermarket now. Who knew it would be so valuable.

That's actually fairly "cheap" (lol) compared to UCS Falcon relative to both MSRP's! Ridiculous regardless.

Oh, and I think I'm definitely going to get the Winter Village Market now. I think it'll add a lot more variety to the village in terms of mixing all the stands together. The Santa Workshop is actually has less playability in this respect since I feel like that set is more of a stand-alone and doesn't mix into the village as well.

Whoo, OT! I just cleared the top of my cabinets from game LE's and other assorted junk that has gathered there over the years, so now I have another 1,5 m of shelf space to continue the modular street. Looking forward to Detective Agency obviously but I think I might build another MOC before then... this one I'm making has been a lot of fun so far.

Ok, so it's the 15th and no Hobbit sets yet. Aren't we getting them until November in Europe, or is S@H just slow to update as usual?
The page for The Lonely Mountain set has said Oct. 15 for a while now. But it is still the 14th here in the States... should be up on S@H in about 5 hours?
Also, the Minecraft set review video that was linked near the end of the previous thread, I had completely missed the fact that Lego was now making 16x16 Plates. Looks like they started in 2011? I just happened to not pick up any of the sets it has appeared in I guess. And yet I have wanted a couple of those sets... silly me for passing them up and showing restraint when it comes to Lego!

Probably not, I may have something lined up which may me no MOCs at all for some time, I have a mountain of lego from the last expo to dismantle and sort too.
As for the Simpsons house itself, the build experience is kinda dull. A lot of repetition with the walls and tiled floors. Funnily enough by the time you get a piece of furniture or something to break it up it feels more like an annoyance than a respite. I really don't know how that could be resolved though, not every set can be fun to put together.

The best parts were the furniture. Mainly because of the cool techniques used. But yeah, the main building did get dull after a bit.

I assume you mean the garage?
I tried to connect it last night and the wall of the garage pushed in/collapsed. Fixed it up but it took some effort to attach.
A quick question. When you order something from S@H and there's a promotion for free extra sets going on (like the current holiday bonus Toy Workshop) is the extra set added on checkout?
Because the promotion is apparently active in Europe now and I've added more than enough sets in the cart to qualify, yet the Toy Workshop hasn't been added to the cart.

The main draw would be the figs so you don't have to pick up a couple other previous sets (unless you want Radagast, which I still kinda do). It's to bad you have to get Attack of the Wargs for Azog's white warg.
An idea I had for that set was because that bridge and tower matches the Council of Elrond so well I was thinking of combining them to make a bigger Council of Elrond/Rivendell scene.
Any time I've ordered during a promo it was always automatically added to my cart when I met the purchase requirements.
Weird. I guess I'll just scrap the entire order and start again from scratch to see if that helps.
Edit: Didn't help. I'm stumped. Is S@H usually this confusing/broken?
One item is probably glitched. It happened in the US when we were trying to add Friends Animals Series 6. Try adding a single expensive item like one of the modulars that will get you the promo. After the promo shows up with that, slowly add each item until the promo disappears. You'll then know which item is glitched.

It normally adds it into the cart for you. Unfortunately it's not working in Australia either but normally they do ship correctly anyway.
Odd. I did check after each item was added (starting with the Winter Village Market) but it didn't pop up at all. I'll try one more time and if nothing changes I guess I'll just put in the order regardless and hope for the best. I don't dare to wait much longer before I buy the Market since it might be gone forever soon.

Yeah, that was my problem. Any idea why? It felt like the Technic pins were ever so slightly off the mark, contributing the poorly constructed garage wall collapsing.

I wish they made a giant smaug set where he was made of a bunch of lego instead of a big plastic mold.
well something to do with the way the hinges work on the house means it's never as perfectly aligned as it would be if it was a solid wall. Having 4 pins too makes it twice as difficult to line up. I don't really have a solution to be honest, less pins means you couldn't pick it up together in one whole mass without the garage falling off. You COULD only have 2 pins on one side but which would benefit from being able to open the house with the garage attached, however picking it up and moving it runs the risk of the back swinging open.
I think perhaps you could attach it via 2 pins on the front and come up with some sort of sliding pin mechansim for the back half instead.
To be honest though mine won't stay together long, sets only last a month or 2 max in my house before I pull them down for parts. The Tumbler may be an exception when it eventually arrives.
